1. Where did this film took place? on the shot that the the 6172 went out of scene and F unit rolls in. 2. Apart of "In case of fire, phone civil fire department to help, pull fuel trip and prepare CO Two system for action, and then if possible stop at road crossing, overpasses or underpasses" (they should stop the train NEAR that crossing in question instead), what else did the 50s RR management practice is considered as 'shit'?
I have this on VHS from the Strasburg PA rail museum.Great seeing the old units, but typical corporate cluelessness."Drive your on fire train to a railroad crossing and call the fire department".No wonder PRR,NYC,NYNH and a million other railroads bit the dust.Yes it was the highways, airlines and no government subsidies.BUT they were run like shit.
Good film!! Thanks for putting it up. Reminds me of the old Navy training films..
Men back then didn't have to breath. Much tougher than we are today.
Great variety of older Diesels. "So remember, Little Jonny, Mr Locomotive man will keep you safe by peeing on the prime mover".
Mr. Locomotive Man is also known as Dirty Uncle Hank.
I used to love this movie when I was a kid. I wanted to watch the Fire Train Movie.
YT's automatic captioning ... hoo boy, it recognized "burnt-up" but interpreted "road delays" as "rope delays." 😂
Thanks for the video Brokkenp.
It looks like a FM H12-44. There's a diagram on the fallenflags website in the Pennsy section. Pennsy called it class FS-12.
