i played the game when it first came out in early access, and it's kinda crazy how much stuff they added in the game (and how high quality it is). nice video.
it uses sprites but it is a 3d game with 3d meshes distorted view with matrix transformations to look like 2d top down. It is a popular technique that Enter the Gungeon used as well. Thats why water effects and such other effects look amazing
I've been playing the game recently and it does have some issues but overall it's a great game if you're into Terraria-like games. The game isn't super hard either but not boringly easy, it's actually nice to progress through the bosses and weapons/armor upgrades. I know they want to work on the combat system in the near future and optimizing the game performance, which is great news. Great review though.
Not yet watched the video, i've just clicked a minute ago, but i'll leave and Edit to my comment right after i've seen it. But my opinion at first: There's so many Stardew Valley-like games i think Core Keeper's success comes from the success and the conception of Stardew Valley. Core Keeper is also reminds me to Undermine, Terraria. It's like a game which fused with other 5 games and created a stronger conception.
It's made in Unity, and they used a lot of cool modern particles and shaders with the classic pixel art~

Love this format, Cakez!
Thank you my brother, we need more wholesome viewers like you here! ❤

does stardew valley also do this? thinking of trying it out but i like the look of core keeper more than stardew at a glance
This game is so cool! Amazing video cakez, keep up the good work!

game is broken on my laptop, everything blinks in time with frame rate
as a early acess player, the game optimization was very bad, they remade the light system two times i think so yeah, 2 years EA were a thing
I can see why, lighting can be difficult to optimize
this game definitely panders to the terraria crowd but it also reminds me of 2D zelda and diablo, an already tried and tested successful game style.
Have you thought getting into politics? It's a skill to use so many words while barely saying anything.
Blabbering
:'v
TOXIC!
Fed up with this generic pixel art and farming games
