- My old 1979 Kenworth w900A long hood dropping into Idaho off lookout pass.
Truck specs:
1979 Kenworth w900A
BC3 400hp
13 speed
3.55 gears
Pete air leaf
8” pipes with picket elbows and a small resonator
Long hood A’s are one of my favorite trucks
Same here!
Those dual round headlights flat mounted in the fenders are beautiful to me
@@mattleonard5268have you seen the early fiberglass hoods 61-63 about. Those are the best.
Wonderful sound of a good looking truck engine doing what it does best.
Couldn't agree more!
That is such a beautiful sound. Those ol big cam Cummins make music
She has a good bark! First mechanical Cummins I’ve owned. I do enjoy the crackle she puts out.
I love the way the dash looks on that thing
Thanks!
Wish I'd gone and saved for one of these a few years ago, always liked KW over others despite having a lot of favorite trucks. And that's some beautiful scenery, never got tired of going over Lookout Pass or the rest of the PNW.
I do like the old A’s. I’m from western Montana and I still never get tired of the views
Love your set up & drove the same through the hills out of Denver. Sweet machine!!
Eastbound and down
Loaded up and truckin
We gonna do it they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
Im eastbound just watch ole Bandit run
Those dash panels look awesome!
Thanks!
Thank you for the sound, I luv it!!
Glad you like it!
Brings back memories!
No bad memories in a A model!
that machine jeweled dash is really nice
Man that sounds good!
Thanks I appreciate it!
Music 🎼 to my ears 👂 ❤
Who needs working gauges when your truck sounds a beautiful as that 🤣🤣🤣
Gauges take up power and show ya down. It’s already slow enough lol
I like the trim piece on the hood that the early fiberglass hoods had until about 1965. Idk why they made it smooth.
Prachtige sound en hele mooie wagen groeten uit nederland
Thanks brother!
There's some music😍
I like how the spot lights are mounted in the lower corners of the windshield
Those trucks are gorgeous 😍
That they are!
Enjoyed the ride! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like the west side of Lookout/4th of July passes from Montana into Idaho...
That’s correct!
@@Pissjugproductions9579 went over that road when it wasn't even a freeway yet. Midnight, middle of winter, one lane track of mud and boulders weaving up and down the other side of both passes at *maybe* 10mph...
Wow thats sounds awesome !!!
Thank you!
Those were the moments
Sound good and I thought that looked like Lookout Pass, I've always felt like my Jakes have been the loudest on lookout
They hit different coming off lookout
Love your videos btw!
That stretch looks familiar. Is it the east bound downside from Monteagle on I-40? I wouldn’t wanna come down that grossed out without a 3 stage Jake. Red hot brakes and tire fires…
Lookout pass west bound dropping into Mullan, ID.
I would try to keep this Ol School…RELIABLE NON ELD, DEF…Big cam Cummins …as long as you can. The newer trucks today and the intrusive nature of ELD’s, DEF fluid, for ward and rearward cameras, speed sensors, etc….well….try to never lose this gold mine …Bryan z Maxwell..O/O since 1984…🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Pulls the hill good😊😊
She does okay!
And there goes the first car to fly by 🤔
I guess?
Very nice!
Thank you!
I didn’t know that you could continuously run Jake Brakes that long.
I hope that’s a hands free one touch camera!
Head mounted GoPro
Im jealous 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thats a nice kenny
How do you see the traffic lights with the blind visor? Also, awesome truck dude
I'm assuming he sits alot lower on the seat and maybe the camera is mounted a bit higher? Not sure entirely
The glare off the hood. Usually I sit lower but the seats sit higher than my other trucks.
Nice bro 👍
Thanks brother
If you don’t mind me asking what are those panels made out of. They look amazing. Any glare off them from the sun?
Turned aluminum. Na the glare isn’t that bad.
Amazing truck, where was this filmed
Lookout pass Montana/Idaho border
You were goin uphill no?
Na down
Cat guy myself, but she sounds good. How does she do going up the hill?
Cat guy myself. It holds it own for being what it is. 4 mile long 6% grade it’ll do about 32mph loaded to 82,000. No where close to my emodel or c-15 acert. Makes a guy really appreciate modern power plants!
I have three acerts and one b model. Acerts sure run good. But seems like I’m always going for that old b
B’s were the best 3406 ever!
👍👍👍
Does sustained jake brake usage like that cause any problems down the road, so to speak? Just curious.
Nope...offsets it...brake wear...clutch...power train...just nice smooth control if done right
Yes over the long period it does , top of injector adjusting screws , wears down cracked jake housings , the oil being hydrauied in the jake housing gets hot the heat compromise the jake housing & cracks between the jake hold down bolt & the slave piston ( jake housing is thin)!!
Also rearend pattern is set up more for pulling than reveres torgue .
Both of yall full of shit...if that's the case....why have them....??.
Run the overhead more often...geez
Wat rpms are u doing
1700
Bet fuel mileage not good but that thing is a chugging sounds good.
Never runs enough to get a accurate calculation on it but I’d guess 5mpg
É muita melodia
Uma pena que a lei Brasileira e as estradas não permitem o caminhoneiro comprar um desse
I’ve never heard that before. That is a shame!
Jake
Brake
Does the jake beake ever out out on you
Not this truck but I’ve had a wire come off on the Jake housing on a e model and one set of jakes wasn’t working. Easy fix though.
Let'r rip 👍
Belle musique
5 6 sectao bajando caja 15 8 bajando
She'll whoa up good it looks like. Just got a start off slower. Bet your ears are bleedin at the bottom. 🤣
WHAT? Type louder, I can’t hear you!
Tesla got nothing on this 😆
Exhaust diverter
You saved a lot of cash on breaks
I go up and down the same speed. Rain, snow, or shine. My old man always told me you can go down any grade too slow for as long as you live, but you can only go once too fast.
Took a long trip from NY to Texas. Sadly, Hardly saw any long hood trucks at all. Mostly the newer, ugly to me, short streamlined hoods.
Everyone’s worried about fuel economy and the bottom dollar at the end of the year which I completely understand. But that style of truck just isn’t for me. I’ll take a little loss of money for a lot of class.
Don’t have to be in a cat’s ass like that to pull a hill
Ha! that’s great but I’m going downhill
Those were the moments
