Each of those cedar trees suck up 30 gallons of water a day , if the place was cleared and returned to pasture the spring would probably began to provide fresh water again.

On the backside of my Dad & Mom's 58 acre property was a creek that had what we called a Spring Box in it . It was made from wood, set right in the middle of the spring. It basically allowed water to come up from underneath to allow for easy water dipping. The person who bought that 13 acres got an awesome piece of land ~ wow ! I LOVE old barns , too !

Thanks for the info on the "Spring Box" on your Dad and Mom's property! It really does sound like the same setup as the one in the creek bed behind the barn on this tract. I bet the wooden one on your parent's place was built from cedar, or some other water resistant wood...very cool!
Yes, it was like petrified wood. At one time it had been an old homestead there.
This is really cool land I was just in the Ozarks last year beautiful area.
It really is beautiful out here in the Ozarks. We have four distinct seasons, mild winters (generally) and plenty of outdoor activities.
My aunt and uncle who lived deep in the Ozarks had a homestead that my Uncle built. Three story cabin, and a beautiful old red barn in the Missouri Ozarks.

My grandparents used a cement cooler in the creek to keep milk cool in the metal milk cans. The milk man came out three times a week to pick up from the dairy.

You know folks forget that there are people in nursing homes in that area that may have been on that property at one time or another . Back in the old days neighbors used to get together & shell corn or thrash wheat / oats or they had barn dances where the whole neighbor hood would show up to have fun. There are square water tanks just like these concrete ones on your video 6 miles east of Wayne Nebraska along highway 35 .This barn was set up just like our cattle shed back home with a place for hay right in the middle that steel track and pulleys above brought the hay in and dumped it in a pile to be stacked up.

Leaving the videos on here is one thing
but how about you remove the properties that are sold from the on line website..I go to look at one of the area's and there are 13 properties listed but 9 are sold. .that isn't real helpful and it makes you look lazy ..
Yup, things have been selling quickly for the past several months. We always leave the sold properties on the site for a while so that our recent buyers don't have to hunt for them.

I think at least one of the concrete structures( close to the barn), if not both, were outside watering trough for life stock. I was raised on a farm in an Amish community and we had one just like that.

That's not stucco, it poured cement.
The home-made stucco has been applied over the exterior of the poured cement (hard to see in the video).

Okay man. I'm a resident of the 0zarks in Douglas County (AKA Booger County....Google it), and I got something to say. My family has lived on the same land here in the 0zarks for nearly 200 years. With that said, anyone who is born and bred in a city somewhere needs to know a few things about trying to move to the 0zarks. First, if you do buy some land in the back woods, you had better respect property lines. Don't go down in the woods tripping around and end up trespassing where your ass don't belong. It's a good way to get dog bit, arms broke, or shot, or some combination. We don't take kindly to city slickers throwing trash outta car windows (Good way to get chased down by a big pissed off country boy in a pickup truck who has a deer rifle ), or setting the woods on fire by flipping cigarettes around.
Respect. Don't forget it or else you will be taught a lesson.

Interesting comment. All of the things you mention are definitely annoyances but I have never heard of "city slickers" doing any of them. More like local teenagers.

Just walk off into the bush. I think there is a provision to people who want to homestead but I believe it's under a different term. Could be under use of crown lands. I want out of Saskatchewan. Too bad these guys keep the price of the properties a secret. I am searching many sites and don't have time to play games. You don't have a price, I don't want to deal with you. I do like the videos though. I can see the kind of properties that I will probably buy from someone who is more up front.

Creek beds usually have water in them, don't they?
Year around creek beds would normally have water in them year around. This creek bed does not have water in it year around (it is a "seasonal" or "wet weather creek").
Clearing the land caused the water table to drop. Trees are like straws. They kept the water "drawn up" better. Removing all on them cause the mechanism to the water to be removed eventually. Then sediment from that removal cause the water source to be covered up. A person can figure out where the source was when it is in wet weather stage and possibly dig it back out in some cases. Have the same thing going on my own Ozark mountain property.

No problem. If you are talking to me. Planting small patches of bamboo around such areas can help bring the water back up closer to the ground. Different ways to help bring the water back. Thing is, snakes like hiding in bamboo cane patches too. If you believe in water divining you can find where the spring source is better as well. That, or an underground hole. There really is nothing bad about witching water anyone can do it. It is basic magnetism between the person and the ground that already exists. You just tapped into it. However, I have never believed those witchers that say they can identify certain minerals specifically underground.
Franklin Taylor Interesting about the bamboo. Last time I visited our family's old cemetery in SW Mississippi someone had planted a big patch of bamboo all along the edge of the cemetery. One of the most beautiful things I've seen. I'd like to see more of this planted.

My Dad's best friend had hit one on the highway, he had put it in the back of his pickup, and was showing it to a game warden, and some lookie lou hit his parked vehicle on the side of the highway, and nearly crippled him for life. In the video it doesn't say or I missed it. How about properties with a few acres? Just curious. Anything for older people in to old to manage large properties? Not being critical just interested.
Howdy, we sell raw acreage (mainly for recreational use). Hunting, camping, fishing...pretty much everything we sell is buildable, though. The only time we have a structure is when we bought raw acreage that happened to have a structure on it.

Remember,,,,the more acres you have,,,,,,the more property taxes you pay,,,,EVERY YEAR.
In the Ozarks the property taxes are VERY low. An average 40 acre tract with no structures will run you about $30-$50 a year in property taxes in most of the counties in which we operate.
I'm on 8 acres in Florida, not close to water or anything in a small town, and I pay 1,000 dollars a year in property taxes

Stanley Vo: Arkansas I believe. The Ozark Mountains are mainly in Arkansas, and he said that the Missouri border wasn't too far away so that would make it northern Arkansas.
Its Missouri. He said it's of 76 in Douglas County. That's just south of me.
