Great videos Sir and it's always a pleasure to watch big farm equipment .No music, just pure raw sounds of the turbos and the big fans moving. Cheers from Canada !
Thank you for explaining things about the equipment so we better understand how they work. Much better the just watching equipment working. I enjoy you channel.
One of your best, if not the best videos and that's a pretty high bar . I liked the farmer interview. Not everyone wants to talk I'm sure but he did well
The gearinghoff head sure is interesting and looks to be a good investment in the way it breaks down the stalks making for quicker breakdown and making it easier and faster to see in the winter wheat!😀
Thanks for the great video. My neighbor uses the same set up, he tries to make all planting, tillage, and harvest a 40ft swath so he runs the 24 row 20 inch. He runs a case rowtrac with a grainstorm auger cart. It is one cool operation to see.
I have to agree with my fellow viewers, this was a great video as always and this one was great also for giving us a lot of knowledge about cornheaders and work processes in the field. Looking forward for coming videos!
We've had a Case 8120 since 2010 with a 12 Geringhoff head. Does stock chopping but the 1 foot of stalk it leaves needs to be stomped or chews up tires
Always been leery of no till but this year with a number of our own pastures looking like they could do with a top up with clover and grasses as well as being asked to improve the grasses of a pair of fields we have just started renting we decided to get a secondhand direct drill and so far we have been really pleased with the job to the point of doing double the acres we were going to do. Looking at that head it really does do a good job and I could see the benefits for those who would still want to till as it would be a lot easier to incorporate the residue into the soil
Our one is only 3m but is rated at 80hp for the tractor and weighs about a ton but it digs in really well due to the times, a little too well in one spot in the last field
I realize that this video was on corn heads my question is how do the samples look with that massive amounts of product going through the combine I noticed with the case that the stalks were standing straight up as the header travel through and cut the stalks clean and pulled it through was there less butt shelling once again a great educational video thanks great photography
My dad has the toy collectable of the case combine, also i do believe that's the combine we have on Farming Simulator 17, possibly 19, but as you were talking about tracks, it makes the vehicle look badass too, lol. But my dad worked on a farm back in the day, he drove them big 4x4 tractor, he said if your not paying attention, you could drive through a house without knowing it, that right there tells you how much serious power is under that hood, but awesome video my friend, keep them coming.
These machines offer allot of power. The 9240 combine has as much horse power as the third largest Steiger 4wd. The 9240 is being replaced by the 9250 in 2019. I would like FS19 will have a 9250.
That's why i love farming vehicles, just the amount of power and everything in between, its crazy, back when the first gas powered engines were put into those tractors, power like that wasn't heard of, but when the big 4x4 tractors were introduced, power like that was needed to turn those big wheels, its remarkable how far farming vehicles has become. But as to fs19, we should have a full garage by next month or end of next month. But whatever happens, happens.
I have had producers tell me the biggest bottleneck they have is being able to get the corn moved away fast enough. 3 big combines can require as many as 15 semis to keep the combines working.
Another great video I wonder if there is a fuel penalty on the combine running that but I am sure they more than make up for it with no till and thanks for throwing a little of the radio chatter in this one that was so much a part of the experience on the dairy back in the day
Having used both a Geringhoff and a John Deere chopping head, the Geringhoff used much less horspower and did a better job of chopping.Went back to JD because we could not get the Geringhoff to work in wet, downed corn. Now they say just take the stationary knife off in bad conditions.
i run a geringhoff PZ (today its caller PCA) witch is an earlier version of this slicing-up-tecnic alongside the stalks. the problem is, it is a single-roller version with firmly mounted knives, so the roller has to push the stalks trough the knives. the consequence is, that after a while, when the roller-comb and the knives becomes outworn, it kills the gear or the roller-shaft. the turning blade-roller of the rota-disc prevent this problems, but its heavier and more expensive...
Hey Big Tracter - Got a question When these 40 ft corn heads are opening up a field thats 1/2 mile + long how are they emptying the hopper on the combine /. Will the unloading auger work at say 1/3 of its full radius of extension
I can make a video on this some time. When they open up a section and the combine fills up and there is no where to unload they stop a few feet before they are completely full. They back up and move over and cut another swath along side the first pass. Then the grain cart can pull up and the combine can unload. Then the cart backs up and the combine returns to the original pass.
In 1967 my dad bought a brand new John Deere 4400 combine with a 2 row head for 9500.00 .... I don't think you could even buy the up keep parts for that head for that today lol. I wonder how much will change in the next 40 years?
Great video!!! Love the big equipment! I am very interested in how the no-till their wheat into the corn residue. Which planters do they run? Would love to see some footage of the planting process.
Here is a video I made last October showing no-till wheat seeding into corn stalks th-cam.com/video/tMEEWUxaMCY/w-d-xo.html I just filmed the growing wheat in the and field and will show it being harvested in June.
Keep learning about corn heads and it's great. That's the largest grain cart I've seen watching ag videos. A advantage goes to aftermarket non oem company for efficiency stalk possessing and volume per minute. Like going to ag school
Case IH makes a good head. In this case CIH does not offer a 24 row 20 inch head that this requires. I just filmed a pair of Case IH 16 row heads. Stay tuned.
what the difference in weight between 24 20 and 16 30 header? Is there enough lifting capacity in modern combine (stock) to use such headers or other preparations are needed? Lexion 770 is good for 24 20?
I will have to check a brochure on weight. A Class 8 or 9 combine can run a 16 row. I just filmed a Case IH 8240 on a 16 row. A Claas 770 could run a 24 row 20 no problem.
Because soybeans are planted right behind the wheat combine. Wheat fields make two crops in one year with wheat in June and soybeans in October. As a result corn always follows beans. So if your farm is 2,000 acres it produces 3,000 acres of crops a year.
It's the width of the corn head that matters...200bu corn per acre is the same...doesn't matter if you have 20 inch or 30 inch corn rows, they are both 40 foot wide.
What is the yield per acre on the 20” row? Those are just awesome machines I would love to run one of those combines or the quad track tractor someday 😎. Thanks for the great videos I love watching harvest time in the field across or nation. Everyone harvesting be safe and god bless. Thanks again, Jeffrey Misch
@bigtractorpower how many rows do you think a class nine combine can handle? Do You think on 24 rows the clean grain elevator and the fountain auger are overloaded?
Otis Smith Combines that have rear wheel assist will have the tread facing backwards so that the rear wheels can help pull the combine out of any mud when we try to back out of a muddy spot in a field.
Thanks for the video. Being following your videos for a while and they have being quite inspiring especially for those of us here in Nigeria. Anyone got any suggestions of an affordable combine we could buy to boost our productivity for the next season? Thanks once for the video and many others you've posted.
You should blow people away. But telling how many semi truck loads per day. It takes to keep up with that one combine. Or Total semi Truck loads. As most that have not been around farming or trucks. Would be in shock as to how many Semi truck loads that is. Keep up the great Videos.
bigtractorpower oh well the guy that I work for the combine doesn’t go very fast on road he only goes like 16 so going from one end of the county to the other is like a road trip
Great videos Sir and it's always a pleasure to watch big farm equipment .No music, just pure raw sounds of the turbos and the big fans moving. Cheers from Canada !
For me, as a person who never got up close front with one of these heads, this was very informative! Thank you.
Thank you for watching. I am glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you BTP. Nice Looking header and it does a very good job at making the trash smaller. That combine is a beast.
It sure is.
I'd love to see how these heads work when combined with some devastators or something similar.
Thank you for explaining things about the equipment so we better understand how they work. Much better the just watching equipment working.
I enjoy you channel.
Your welcome. Glad you enjoy it. Thank you for watching.
One of your best, if not the best videos and that's a pretty high bar . I liked the farmer interview. Not everyone wants to talk I'm sure but he did well
Glad you enjoyed it. I will have more interviews.
Those Class 9 combines are awesome. Love the video
They can cover some ground.
Amazing operation all around. Great viewing. The comparison of the headers was really informative.
Thank you for watching.
I'm just glad to see someone that does not overload a self supported trailer!
Controlled traffic farming is beneficial. I film at a farm that runs everything on 40ft. Corn, wheat, canola and soybeans.
Great video awesome header
I have to agree with my fellow viewers, this was a great video as always and this one was great also for giving us a lot of knowledge about cornheaders and work processes in the field. Looking forward for coming videos!
Thank you for watching. More videos on the way.
That BLOWS MY MIND WOW
Another extraordinary video from BTP, thanks you very much, this was special
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching.
Love watching the big boys impress of 👍👍
Thank you for watching.
Thanks, BTP for another fine video. I appreciate the Heard Farms as well for giving you access.
Your welcome. It’s a great farm.
Yes, everything about it was great!
I am really glad that I found your channel. You have a great job, filming and riding in the big machines. Wow. I will be watching for more.
Glad you found the channel. Thank you for watching. Many more videos on the way.
We've had a Case 8120 since 2010 with a 12 Geringhoff head. Does stock chopping but the 1 foot of stalk it leaves needs to be stomped or chews up tires
The speed is what amazes me!?!?
Always been leery of no till but this year with a number of our own pastures looking like they could do with a top up with clover and grasses as well as being asked to improve the grasses of a pair of fields we have just started renting we decided to get a secondhand direct drill and so far we have been really pleased with the job to the point of doing double the acres we were going to do.
Looking at that head it really does do a good job and I could see the benefits for those who would still want to till as it would be a lot easier to incorporate the residue into the soil
No till works well. Today’s heavy hydraulics can push the seed down. Tillage is good too to break down stalks.
Our one is only 3m but is rated at 80hp for the tractor and weighs about a ton but it digs in really well due to the times, a little too well in one spot in the last field
Man that set up is a pretty penny 😎
It earns its keep harvesting a few thousand acres.
Excellent Video!
Thank you for watching.
Another great video thanks again 👍
Thank you for watching.
5000 bushels per hour, that is 5 semi loads per hour to haul away.
That is correct. The combine keeps the trucks rolling.
quick maths lmfao :/
class video right here
Thank you for watching.
j'aime bien toute ses video consernant les tracteurs articuler.
I realize that this video was on corn heads my question is how do the samples look with that massive amounts of product going through the combine I noticed with the case that the stalks were standing straight up as the header travel through and cut the stalks clean and pulled it through was there less butt shelling once again a great educational video thanks great photography

Good match between corn head and combine.
They can collect a bunch of corn.
I have had producers tell me the biggest bottleneck they have is being able to get the corn moved away fast enough. 3 big combines can require as many as 15 semis to keep the combines working.
Very true. This farm has enough trucks to keep rolling on.
Another great video I wonder if there is a fuel penalty on the combine running that but I am sure they more than make up for it with no till and thanks for throwing a little of the radio chatter in this one that was so much a part of the experience on the dairy back in the day
I will have to ask on fuel consumption. I think the speed and width out weigh the fuel cost.

Wow very impressive! How many trucks does it take to keep up with the combine?
It takes several. Most farms I film with 40ft heads wether a 16 30 or 24 20 run 7 to 10 trucks.
Great video. This is my neighbor. Eric is a jamb up guy.
Very cool.
Hey Big Tracter -

Awesome video
Thank you for watching.

Combines are big $$$. A new class 9 base price is well over $500,000. They more they do the more money.
They need a front mounted crimper roller on a tractor to roll down the stalks so as to reduce the amount of tire wear
I'm fairly sure I saw a 12-row 30" version of this at the Farm Progress Show early last week. Impressive, to say the least.
They make lots of sizes up to 18 30. I just filmed a Geringhoff 16 30 on an 8240.
Massive machines now days
They just keep getting bigger and having more harvesting ability.
With having 20 inch rows, does that reduce the yield of their corn or do they supply more fertilizer to the corn throughout the season?
It normally increases yield a bit.
Very impressive farm
They have a nice operation.
Great video!!! Love the big equipment! I am very interested in how the no-till their wheat into the corn residue. Which planters do they run? Would love to see some footage of the planting process.

bigtractorpower Thanks for sharing! I actually have seen this video! Forgot about it. Great work
It would be great to hear about yield in tons too !!
Keep learning about corn heads and it's great. That's the largest grain cart I've seen watching ag videos. A advantage goes to aftermarket non oem company for efficiency stalk possessing and volume per minute. Like going to ag school
I hope to film a Kinze 1500 this fall.
About how many gallons per hour of fuel does one of these combines require on average to operate with this headers set up on 200 bushel per acre corn?
Probably too much,I feel it`s pedal to the metal
About 19 gallons.
Nice stuff.
Thank you for watching.
Nice video
Thank you for watching and commenting.
It seems that most CIH combines have a different company’s head on them. Is the CIH heads inferior to the rest
Case IH makes a good head. In this case CIH does not offer a 24 row 20 inch head that this requires. I just filmed a pair of Case IH 16 row heads. Stay tuned.
Engine in the 9240 is 973 cid.Is the Geringhoff head patented?
Not sure on the patent. The Case IH website lists the 9240 engine as C16. Thank you for listing the cubic inches.
what the difference in weight between 24 20 and 16 30 header? Is there enough lifting capacity in modern combine (stock) to use such headers or other preparations are needed? Lexion 770 is good for 24 20?
I will have to check a brochure on weight. A Class 8 or 9 combine can run a 16 row. I just filmed a Case IH 8240 on a 16 row. A Claas 770 could run a 24 row 20 no problem.
How was it yeilding
wonder how much corn goes out the back end on that john deere
This is a Case IH. Not very much at all.
Very impressive machine, I wonder how much it would cost to buy it
The combine and header probably run around $700,000.
Very cool !
Thank you for watching.
Are there differences in yeild or something else in 20 and 30 inch rows?
It all depends on the year. In drier conditions narrow seems to do better. Narrow is good for corn silage yields. Narrow holds the soul better.
Why do they sow winter wheat into the corn stubble and not no till it into the soybean stubble?
Because soybeans are planted right behind the wheat combine. Wheat fields make two crops in one year with wheat in June and soybeans in October. As a result corn always follows beans. So if your farm is 2,000 acres it produces 3,000 acres of crops a year.
Great Video! Have you seen anything out in the field using the Gehringhoff row independent corn head?
I have not seen the row independent in the field yet.
So you say it’s 40 ft wide same as a 16 row 30in head. But would you say this is bigger because it’s bringing in more rows? Kinda interesting!
It's the width of the corn head that matters...200bu corn per acre is the same...doesn't matter if you have 20 inch or 30 inch corn rows, they are both 40 foot wide.
Scott Heeren true
They are same size. Just more rows on the 24 row to harvest the narrow row corn.
there are just fewer plants per row
What is the yield per acre on the 20” row? Those are just awesome machines I would love to run one of those combines or the quad track tractor someday 😎. Thanks for the great videos I love watching harvest time in the field across or nation. Everyone harvesting be safe and god bless.
Thanks again,
Jeffrey Misch
They were up over 200 bu.
@bigtractorpower how many rows do you think a class nine combine can handle? Do You think on 24 rows the clean grain elevator and the fountain auger are overloaded?
No over loading at all. The 9240 had no issue with this header or grain.
Have you found anyone getting effecticted by the Tar Spot Fungus. It is effecting hard wood near me.
I have not.
Deutsche Wertarbeit :D
Monster corn head!
It covers some ground.
Why are the case combines in your area run tracks and john Deere are wheeled
Id say operators choice. But thats my opinion
Um 616c the c stands for chopping it does chop there bud just a different way
hello, I have a question, are harvesting machine machines also have so many faults as in poland ..?
There are breakdowns. Hopefully not too often.
why are rear wheels/tires installed in a reverse direction on some combines?
Otis Smith Combines that have rear wheel assist will have the tread facing backwards so that the rear wheels can help pull the combine out of any mud when we try to back out of a muddy spot in a field.
Thanks for the info. Makes sense now.
Correct, and it also help with braking efficiency a little.
Thank you!
Very impressive
Thank you for watching.
I enjoyed several of your videos
What size concaves are you using?
How late at night do they work?
On the day this was filmed they worked until about 8 pm when the field was completely harvested.
Why are you always so worried about compaction.....when they turn around and disc it up anyway before planting winter wheat
Compaction goes deeper than you can disc.
Thanks for the video. Being following your videos for a while and they have being quite inspiring especially for those of us here in Nigeria. Anyone got any suggestions of an affordable combine we could buy to boost our productivity for the next season? Thanks once for the video and many others you've posted.
we use 24 row heads here on the 40,000 acreas of corn harvest
Very cool. The biggest crop of corn in my home town is 13,000 acres.
What is the row of corn?
Great vid!
Thank you for watching.
My standard comment, “Sure beats an International 101!”
G The Architect haha you got that right!
Just remember the 101 beat picking corn by hand or one row at a time back in its day.
bigtractorpower Did that also, a 1 row New Idea with a Farmall H, and a 2 row Allis Chalmers Mounted on a WD!
After all this rain were supposed to get i might be in a boat harvesting corn. You can come film us if we do that! 😂#harvest18
Hopefully no boats in corn this fall.
127 metric tonnes per hour ,wow that is impressive.
You should blow people away. But telling how many semi truck loads per day. It takes to keep up with that one combine. Or Total semi Truck loads. As most that have not been around farming or trucks. Would be in shock as to how many Semi truck loads that is.
Keep up the great Videos.
The combine can crank out 5,000 bu. An hour. So that is 5 semi loads an hour.
That’s a corn eating machine!!!!👍👍👍👍
It covers a bunch of acres in a hurry.
Expensive operation for sure
Spacing 45 cm?
It is a narrow row.
Better get her done Gordon coming up tropical storm
Very true. That’s why harvest started on August 13 to get as much in to avoid storm weather.

What city in western ky
This was near Chandlers Chapel, KY
German Power💪🏻
Yeah but you can’t go very fast on tracks on a combine
In the field they run as fast as tires. Some tracked combines like the Claas TT series can run 25 mph on the road.
bigtractorpower oh well the guy that I work for the combine doesn’t go very fast on road he only goes like 16 so going from one end of the county to the other is like a road trip
ike fun no
Or you just don’t know
My dad would kill me if he saw me plow over corn like that lmfao (It was only a few times I saw it and I'm not saying it was everything he did)
Add dirt road what ifs
dirt rd???
20 inch row...... Still big. You better have grain carts and trucks. Otherwise a bunch of sitting and waiting.
It takes allot of coordination.
👍👍👍👍
