- Swami Sarvapriyananda has been appointed as Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.
Prior to this, he served as assistant minister of the Vedanta Society of Southern California for 13 months, beginning on December 3, 2015.
Swami joined the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in 1994 and received Sannyas in 2004. Before being posted to the VSSC’s Hollywood Temple, Swami served as an acharya (teacher) of the monastic probationers’ training center at Belur Math. He has served the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in various capacities including being the Vice Principal of the Deoghar Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Principal of the Shikshana Mandira Teacher Education College at Belur Math, and the first Registrar of the Vivekananda University at Belur Math.

@@Kommitanz knowledge is to know.. experience is to live the knowledge. knowledge is real even without your subjective experience. "Flame is hot" is knowledge, putting your finger in it and experiencing this truth just reinforces this knowledge.
@@k1ngp1n90 To have the thought "flame is hot" is also an experience. Thinking and sense perception like physical pain are differend kinds of experiences but they are both experiences.

Enlightenment is a type of knowledge but this knowledge becomes higher experience than anything.

Knowledge helps you reach there, but it is not a knowledge, It's like tendencies, which continues from one life to another like karma. These tendencies helps you neutralize your karma. You are on a path with these tendencies. When you reach the destination, your karma gets neutral, and you get moksha, freed from the cycle of life & death. 🙏

I was waiting for words like "it's removal of illusion". It's not knowledge is what enlightened being Ranjit maharaj said. His videos are on TH-cam. He said knowledge is something you forget. And in absolute state brahman is not even aware of itself.

Meditation is the key to see life as it is.
There is no key. Just be.
It is an experienced knowledge of sorts... yes clarity, yes someone turned up the vibrancy, yes everything is new, yes you understand that you are watching and playing the game, yes you realize that the "gateless gate" is also an illusion, yes you have to stop yourself from smiling at people too much, yes sometimes when you walk if feels like you float, and yes there are days when only silence will do... but all that is experience... and you know it while experiencing it.... you experience stuff in the know.

Yes you're right. This one time experience would transform one's views about himself/herself. One would never confine himself/herself within the limitations of body and mind anymore and would realize his/her ever-free, divine nature. That would be permanent.

Experience is within time and hence NOT enlightenment. The issue is ignorance which is cleared with knowledge. This enlightenment is 'pRathyabhinja', re-cognition of the TRUTH that you were, are, and ever will be BRAHMAN. Rest everything is nothing but a chimera, which is experience. So the right way to understand vedantha is to DROP looking for moksha, experience etc and instead learn the prasthanathrayam from a Guru who is both a shrotriya and brahmanishta.

I don't know whether Swamiji does that or not. But monks of Ramakrishna Mission generally do that. SRI RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHAMSA himself did that.

Eating fish fundamentally goes against the teachings of paramhansa Ramakrishna and Vivekananda's.
I think in this age rkm monks must abstain from fish and live on a pure vegan diet.
A vegan diet is scientifically, healthwise and spiritually better option.

Ramakrishna order does not face any problem realizing God whether eating fish or veg.They proved in real life and others like you only making comments.They does not face any obstacle in enlightened experience and others like you only making comments not able to get enlightenment experience.So stop arguing do some thing realizing God.Otherwise these are mere comments nothing to do with enlightenment .

@@csdaw1636 ji just do sadhana rather than engage in mere argument.U have seen closely in my life many people waste valuable time of life in that kind of argument on the other hand I have seen monks calmly did sadhana irrespective of any argument and live winderful life.One thing as long as you live you do hingsa in many ways only eating non veg not falls in that catagory even eating veg alsoEven when you kill bacteria or viruses for survival those also himsa.Even if anybody wants anybody's loss, death ,bad thing or any kind of loss mentally those also himsa.First learn proper knowledge about himsa .Partial knowledge is dangerous.Gather knowledge rather than making cimment on partial knowledge.

jiddu went under intense spiritual awakening. there is a video were he even talks about his enlightenment experience but he didn't call it enlightenment for obvious reasons.
