    I had a few amateur rounds back in the 70s, I can tell you there were so many Samoan fighters, Afakasi, Su’a, Laavasa, Monty, Tuna Scanlan the schusters, Opetaia, Vili & so many more. As a Cook island I was always proud to see the Samoan boys fight knowing they represent for polynesian boxing. NZ boxing I wish there was some kind of recognition to all these Samoan & Polynesian fighters who I believe made NZ boxing famous in those days. -Latu

    It's this sort of history, that people never hear about, or know about in NZ history, I'm sure there are hundreds of stories like this in NZ , but they are almost never told or known, because Island culture is ignored in NZ, God bless you Ali ❤️

    I remember him working as a roaming security guard at Mangere Town Centre (South Auckland), in the mid-to-late 1990's. He looked stocky and match fit even then in his 40's..
