I still have a bit of that ikea fabric from a few years back when I bought it, I recognized the pattern right away haha! And great video, thank you for such a good explanation

Thank you SO much for this. Any suggestions on how to fell down the corner/to move along to the other side of the lining?

Glad you liked it :) I personally would do fell stitch to the corner, making sure I come up with the needle right in the corner of the lining, then I'd probably do a small whip stitch to connect the corner of the lining to the fabric beneath, and then just carry on doing the fell stitch along the next edge. I don't know if that's the proper way to do it, but that's what I'd do!

When you made this video, did you suspect you might save a Dutch woman's favourite winter coat three and a half years down the line? Because you did. Ripped out the old, torn and degraded lining, traced it on some fabric scraps (off cuts from my curtains), and now finally ready to put it back together. First sewing project in over a decade and had no idea what stitch to use. All the other videos were blurry, unhelpful, hyper/shouty with loud music, or all of the above. Yours is perfect. Thank you so much!

Does the top fabric need to be folded?

If you mean the lining then yes unless it's a fabric that isn't prone to fraying :)
