Hello, been watching you since forever, been doing this as a hobby now too off and on when I need stuff, so far fixed two joycons one with drift one with a faulty bumper button fixed a few xbox one controllers with broken buttons and sticks and I fixed a dead xbox one x, a steamdeck I'm loving it. Been really getting into it. Thanks dude.
Love your videos so much. I hope I can find my original ps1 that I got for Christmas as a kid and possibly have you fix it. My sister Ashley spilled koolaid on it by accident, she is no longer with us so it would be bittersweet to have it fixed
Most repair shops don't like fixing HDMI ports. My local shop does not do them. They claim that it cannot be done because it will cause the board to be overheated.
It's because they are inexperienced and don't want to destroy peoples consoles...There are too many "repair shops" that claim to be able to fix them and then end up mangled HDMI ports...I would rather them just say they don't work on that part
That just means that they don't do know how to do them and don't want to learn. It's 100% safe to replace HDMI ports on these boards if you know what you're doing. On top of that this repair is quite profitable. You could probably run a good profitable business just replacing HDMI ports.
I think repair shops should have mandatory training on how motherboards of all types are actually made. (like watching that TLC SHOW "How It's Made". 10x more repairs will be done weekly.
Why’d they go through that much work to fix those traces, just to not have the joints soldered to the board correctly, which they could have done much easier than the traces being fixed? And then allegedly steal a part off of it?
Oh man, I was getting frustrated just watching you struggle with that chip and especially that passive. I wouldn't have been able to get through it if it were me doing the work.
Once again your beautiful solder work it’s like magic. What brand and types is you iron and hot air I don’t t know good equipment yet and yours appears superior
I went through a similar situation, the shop basically used my Xbox for parts. They replaced the power supply for a bad one, it was missing the wifi/bluetooth card, it was a different black housing for the entire system chassis. It only needed the power & eject ribbon cable replaced and they tried to screw me over. I took it back and told him to replace it with good working console and he agreed to his mistakes.
At this rate they should just send everything to you guys at Fix it so many bad repair shops ripping people off it’s just sad and why I’m learning to repair for myself.
I worked briefly in a cellphone repair shop. The kids that worked there before me would basically take in anything and promise to fix it. Problem being they had no real experience in soldering and were comically inept at obtaining parts. I think some people see videos like yours and don't realize that you put a lot time and effort into developing your skillset...and even you don't have a 100% success rate. This is difficult stuff.
Need help 😫 I have an authentic copy of Pokemon Gold that doesn’t save after a battery swap. Tested battery, it’s good. Battery installed +\+ -\-. Pins on SRAM and other chips appear solid. No corrosion detected. I have no idea what else to do. Any suggestions?
I have a xbox elite series 2 controller and the right bumper keeps going out. Ive taken it apart multiple time and cleaned the switch and use air pump to blow out dust. Still broken. Are you able to replace the switch
From the previous owner's description (expedited fee, declared unfixable) and the repair shop's work, it almost looks like this was a NorthridgeFix job. But why they would take the retimer chip, I don't know.
I has question, how do you keep the tip of your soldering iron so clean? Mine keeps oxidizing and I use Tinning as wel as good quality solder. I also use copper to clean the tip. PS love your videos and you have inspired me to start working on getting better at soldering as well. :) Thank yous
Looks like almost all those consoles have problems with the HDMI port. I wonder if the manufacturers shouldn't create a more robust mechanical connection for those ports.
I’m on the side of that sellers story, shady repair shop charged them a no fix fee, stole his retimer and probably said “you sent it to us broken anyway why would we put it back” happens all the time.
That happened to me with a ps3 that needed a wifi/Bluetooth chip replace and I waited for 3 months and nothing and I got my ps3 back only to open it and see some broken connectors and missing screws
Ugh i still need to replace that hdmi chip. My first attempt melted through the encapsulation of the ic. Thank god i was wearing a mask and had ventilation going. The second attempt took out some traces. Ill have to attempt this one again at some point.
I posted xbox 360 on ebay for 19.99, no power, i really wanted to open it but wasn’t confident enough to do so, i would love to see you try and fix it, send offer as well if you like !! Cheers
Yeah, this would be a no fix in my shop as I don't have sufficient experience in re-laying traces. But unlike the shop this guy took it to, I have a no fix no charge policy.
I had to replace the hdmi port on my series X and the repair shop had it for over a month before I finally got it back. TLDR: learn to fix your own stuff
Yeah, typically you are better off just biting the bullet and having Microsoft fix it. It's $300 for a Series X, and that includes shipping. Sure it is a bit steep, but Microsoft isn't going to designate it "unfixable" and keep your money unless it is from obvious abuse (and then in worst case they will just keep the shipping cost and send it back). They just send you a new one if it is something that can't be repaired. An independent shop can just keep your money, and in some cases like this strip parts and then tell you it can't be fixed.
SO.... the seller has the time/tools/skill to repair an hdmi and its traces... but needed to send it out to a repair place... sure. Not sure whats more entertaining, the repairs or the nonsense stories people come up with.
There's plenty of things I have the skills to do but would still rather pay a shop to do for me so I can spend my time doing something else. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the seller's story.
@mjc0961 are you missing the part where the seller still did the repair themselves after the initial failed shop repair... but still didn't repair it, despite initiating a repairing themselves.. so sent it out again. That's the problem with the story, not the idea of paying someone to free up your own time. I'm sure that's how you free up your time; Have someone cut your grass poorly, then go out and re-cut it yourself, but only 99% of it, then hire a new company to come back and cut it again to finish that last bit of grass that you decided you wouldn't because you wanted to do something else with that last 20 seconds.
Gonna be honest, buddie, that was painful to watch. You really need to clear the unleaded solder first before you replace that chip. That's why you were struggling, dude.
Easy to forget how tiny some of those components are until the GIANT cotton bud appears! 😮
Lol. I wouldn't be able to work on them without the microscope for sure
That's exactly what I was thinking at that part :)
*Cue Battle Music

Once again nice repair steve❤
Thank you!
the shinny effect on the perfect amount of thermal paste isnt there ahahah
Yeah i was expecting it
Really glad I saw this warning message first, I'd have been so shocked if I was not warned prior.
Because it's not the perfect amount.
The perfect amount is a small dallop and then spread across the surface.
Love your videos so much. I hope I can find my original ps1 that I got for Christmas as a kid and possibly have you fix it. My sister Ashley spilled koolaid on it by accident, she is no longer with us so it would be bittersweet to have it fixed
Nice to see you looking better❤
The bubbles in that flux was beautiful
Why is that so satisfying? I love it for some reason...
Now its at a real professional repair company 💪
Steve, thanks for tour videos and im very happy to see/read you're getting better! Admire your work and passion for such things!

Funny Because they all promoted that they can fix it.
Crazy, that's like 90% of the fixes I do.

You’re looking so good! What a beast
Excellent work as usual.
Hey thanks!
You are an amazing dude😂😂i love your videos

Another great job :) loved it.
Well done once again Steve
Size matters! Keep the big long ones coming @Tronicslongs ftw!

After all the trace fixes you would think they could have done the chip? Great work, another one saved.
What is the small iron you use? the tip looks amazing
Repair shop told me that my tablet not fixablle, when get it back from them screen was cracked.
Sounds about right...

I did not really appreciate the scale of things up until the Gigantic Q-tip came into the Microscope view.
Your flux is very nice
The Master at work.
Other shop - It can't be fixed
Steve - Hold my soldering iron
From the previous owner's description (expedited fee, declared unfixable) and the repair shop's work, it almost looks like this was a NorthridgeFix job. But why they would take the retimer chip, I don't know.
May I ask what liquidation site you use?

Do you use leaded solder?
@@maxflute7893 I am using Lead Free solder.
Green tuff thermal paste? Looking like thermal goop.
Looks like almost all those consoles have problems with the HDMI port. I wonder if the manufacturers shouldn't create a more robust mechanical connection for those ports.
Nice work Steve
On a side note Steve in the uk the “L” is not silent in solder
What flux is that, Steve?
I use Kester Flux it look like that
Kingbo
I’m on the side of that sellers story, shady repair shop charged them a no fix fee, stole his retimer and probably said “you sent it to us broken anyway why would we put it back” happens all the time.
steve please upload a short with an update about your health condition
Hairs are growing back so I guess he's done with chemo and looks better and better! I hope he will post some positive news soon.
He is in remission now so all good currently and hopefully it stays that way
I've been posting my most recent health updates to our website here: tronicsfix.com/pages/steves-health
Esse cara é fod*!!!
That shop owner would be coming back to a shop with a brick through its windows if they did me that dirty.... Wtf
You and me both.
Then again we don't have the shops side of the story . That's if the seller took it to a shop...🤔
I need an mmc drive put in my Xbox how hard is it to do myself
That happened to me with a ps3 that needed a wifi/Bluetooth chip replace and I waited for 3 months and nothing and I got my ps3 back only to open it and see some broken connectors and missing screws

Show me how to replace pads. That's my biggest worry working on these
Good job my guy!
Thanks Steve.
I posted xbox 360 on ebay for 19.99, no power, i really wanted to open it but wasn’t confident enough to do so, i would love to see you try and fix it, send offer as well if you like !! Cheers
will you ever share this channel on your main channel
Yeah, at some point I will.
I hope the original owner reported that shop to the BBB.
Can you do a video about ps2 slim?
Nice video
Glad you liked it!
Yeah, this would be a no fix in my shop as I don't have sufficient experience in re-laying traces. But unlike the shop this guy took it to, I have a no fix no charge policy.
What hapened to the 'halo' effect... It's not the perfect amount without that.. 😔
Ha, ha, we leave it out of the long version of these videos.
Another huge Steve W.
They said it was unfixable because they stole the chip and didn't think he'd notice and cut his loses.
Is that thermal paste or TOOTH paste?
They said that cause they aren't you!!!
I think they broke the retimer pad and werent skilled enough to get it back on as well as you so they deemed it unfixable.
I missed the perfect thermal paste sound effects lol
Buen video
I wish I had your skill; the HDMI port on my Series X is busted.
It was not repairable because they jacked the chip out his console 😂
Hello everyone. Good content
I guess when you like taking things apart you put things completely back together.
Come on man you know that repair shop for them over
I had to replace the hdmi port on my series X and the repair shop had it for over a month before I finally got it back. TLDR: learn to fix your own stuff
Wow, that's a long time!
New flux?
Repair shops arent really good for consoles or laptops, maybe a battery replacement or screen for Phone and tablet thats it
Yeah, typically you are better off just biting the bullet and having Microsoft fix it. It's $300 for a Series X, and that includes shipping. I wonder how much material you would have to work with if all your audience sent you their failed repair attempts. Probably quite a bit. 🤪
Lol, judging by my email inbox it would be a lot!
My man
i have a consoles that need a fix i lack the skill and knowledge to do it
Master
whats with how rough console gamers are with their stuff lmao
Dude it's all so tiny...

Haven't you heard the xbox series are ripoffs.

Yooo
Some people are scammers

1100 degrees???
Yeah must be Fahranheight but even so that's nearly 600 celsius
Yeah 450c would be the hottest you need to go 500c maximum...
@@Slartifartblast :)
Yep, these boards are really thick and take a ton of heat.
@@TronicsFixLongs So that's in fahrenheit then ? and must be close to maxing out the hot air system ?....cheers :)
