Secret to drying pillows is to use tennis balls in the dryer to fluff them up. Also, I agreed that vinegar and baking soda are a must to add to your laundry plus laundry detergent.

I use 8 laundry wool balls from New Zealand. No static cling on any clothes, no wrinkles, and no film on the towels that Bounce leaves. Reusable, you lose one to a pj drawer once in awhile lol which is why I need 8. And of course they work great for the pillows!! 😀

I was suprised to see your laundry machines are not installed properly, I guess someone else takes care of your clothes. And that’s ok because everything else you touch is fabulous and look magical. So it means your a normal person with an extra positive attitude, I thank you for that. I like watching your makeover room and especially your Christmas decoration. It makes me feel good and dream a lot.

We've always washed down...pillows, jackets, sleeping bags,,,wash temp usually determined by color. I would always use hot for white and kill germs. Try throwing tennis balls, wool balls, even a clean tennis shoe, in the dryer to break up the feathers.

Laundry ProTip: Use White Vinegar and Baking Soda instead of toxic chemicals that also come with massive plastic waste. The active ingredient in OxyClean is Baking Soda. Put the baking soda in the powder container, and the vinegar in the softener. Your clothes will be cleaned better than ever and the washer is also clean. You can use this process for stains, put on the vinegar shake BS over the top it bubbles and cleans the stains, cooktops, bathtub, anything!

I now need those lutron shades!
In your utility pantry, I might suggest putting those heavy kitchen appliances at counter top level so they are easier to move. After someone I knew broke their jaw when a large peanut butter fell on them in their pantry, I also put only light weight items on higher shelves.
    Take care!

My favorite pillow was a feather pillow, I used it until it was as flat as a pancake! I read that if you can fold your pillow in half it’s time to toss it, well I folded it in half, then fourths, and then eights! My heart broke as I threw it out. And for the first time for as long as I can remember, I have no junk drawer! 🤗

FYI you should never use laundry soap to wash down. Soap will strip the oils from the down. There are special cleaners you use to clean them and help keep the down fluffy. If you have stains on the fabric spray well with peroxide. Then use a small strainer to sprinkle baking soda; rub into the peroxide to make a paste, if necessary stry more peroxide, and let dry overnight. Hope that helps! I live what you do!

Other enzyme-based products marketed for pet stains work well, too. Thank you for your channel and your elegant but down to earth content! ❤

I use a tip you shared when you helped decorate your son's condo a few years ago. I have a decorative box on a shelf on a coat rack near my door that has small tools like a screwdriver, measuring tape, box cutters, etc. I do have a toolbox I keep elsewhere, but for the small repairs, I can quickly find most items I need there. TY.

I'm 73 & have just recovered from a 2 1/2 yr illness! (during that time we had a water leak & had a Construction Crew in here off & on for about 8mos!) After we redecorated, once the Construction was done & I continued to recover from my illness, I became aware that I needed a "Sense of Purpose" in Life! Since our Sons & their Families are in another State & my Husband & I can only take so many Limited Mobility walks on the River Walk or Nat Forest, I've gotten into the Home Organization/"Swedish Death Cleaning"! I am going thru Every Room, Bathroom & Closet in my House & Trashing, Selling, Donating all of the Things we once thought we "Needed" or Wanted to Keep! Including LOTS of Clothes,(I'm 63lbs smaller, too) Jewelry & Shoes went with the Clothes! There is ALOT! (we've lived here 22yrs) I'm making use of Amazon to get all my Pretty Containers! Since we're not Traveling right now, we're using that Money to Purchase the Right & Serviceable Items that we Need for Today's Needs & Life Style! Every Month I'm purchasing the Well Planned Out Items I need for the Projects we'll do for the Month! My Husband is Inspired! Our Oldest Son purchased a Nice Sized Shed for us for Christmas & helped to put it Together for us, so Hubby is out there Sawing & Making Shelves & Work Bench for the Inside! Rebecca,
I once saw in the newspaper that daughter Heloise said if you have a ring around the collar to use shampoo. The reasoning is it cuts body oils. That might be worth a try. A spray bottle with shampoo, enough water to allow her to spray.
When I need to use it, I just wet the item and scrub shampoo into it.

When you were making the totes for your items - hammers, hangers, ties- I was thinking…”and then I took the tote out and it got tipped over and everything spilled everywhere. Or, I took it with me in the car and then it tipped over on the floor and everything spilled out. “
So I would make my totes ( assuming they need to be portable) in zip top or Velcro topped totes .
Also, I have a duck down feather pillow, covered in heavy tickung. It was made from feathers from ducks my grandfather hunted in the 1920’s. I washed and dried it and it is lovely.

I would love a video going over everything you have connected to an Alexa and how you did it. When your battery operated shades worked I thought you must be a magician!

Great job, as always, Rebecca! Very inspiring/motivating for spring cleaning season.
Also, I feel like an interior design pro now that I know what the electrical innards of a Lutron automatic shade look like. Fascinating! Lol
And side note, the Pentel Energels are my favorite pens too!

Yes, I wash our sleeping pillows every 3 months or so and once a year the throw pillows that we actually rest on. I use Borax in my wash, it’s a natural deodorizer along with baking soda and vinegar in the rinse. The pillows come out very clean and fresh smelling. My mom would partially dry them in the dryer and then hang them up on the wash line. I still remember the smell. 😁

For a quicker drying get the “tennis balls” they come in three you put them in the dryer with the pillow they will fluff it as it dries . They are originally used for drying winter coats they contain feathers . Only a Canadian knows what I am talking about

p.s. ABOUT THE PILLOWS: for the first 30 minutes, put some dryer balls in with the pillow. The kind with the little "spikes" on them is best. Then after 30 minutes, take out the pillow and fluff/redistribute the feathers. Then do another 15 minutes and then fluff again. Then do a last 30 minutes (or however long you still need) but DO NOT use dryer balls, just let it fluff itself in the dryer. Should come out good as new! I have a down QUILT, and it just takes time and patience to get everything re-fluffed up again, that's all! 😁👍

I draped mine outside over the patio table and chairs. The sun will whiten places the washing machine didn't. Refluff and turn over from time to time. @@szee8588

I don't have a kitchen closet, so I maximized my cabinet space by putting inside my cabinets wire shelves where I can stack things. Your closet looks great!

This video is so spot on. Who doesn't have that drawer or closet that we hope that no one but ourself ever sees? I have been going through cabinets and drawers and this video gave me that extra spark of inspiration to get the job completed. Yes please, a bedroom organizing video will be fabulous and I can't wait to see what you do there!

I call it my utility drawer and I put what I use often then, I have a container I put extra stuff in, and if it clutters up I weed it out into the extra container. Works for me!

I had a junk drawer but now I have two junk jars. Large Mason jars I can see through them and everything in it. I keep them in the bottom cupboard and it gave me a whole other large drawer to organize my kitchen tools in.

Wash my down comforter when you put it in the dryer put your somewhat clean tennis shoes or some new tennis balls into a clean white sock, zip it closed, at least two shoes and they will beat up, move around the feathers (inside) to dry easier (and shorter time) and plump up the pillow or comforter Learned that a long time ago hope it helps someone! Oh my got to edit here! My electrician told me NOT TO USE extension cords but to get a good STRIP with multiple plugs because they will stop any fire and TRIP to stop the electricity. Another tip, because I know please do not ask! :) ha ha Edit duck tape all tapes fit nicely on a paper towel holder you know the one with the pole in the center! Love mine less room!
