Thanks April. You aspire to a challenging task. Truth is, it's not easy to pull off a timeless home. I think the key is to know your style and stray from trends... because they ALWAYS pass. I have to say, with 30 years of projects under my belt, I recognize and appreciate looking back and feeling good about my design choices when I think to myself... wow, that still looks good today! Sometimes I achieve that... and sometimes I don't.
Good luck with your home. Stay true to the Design Principals I always try to convey to you.
If you are not a member of The Design Sessions, might I recommend you consider joining? There should be a link in the description box below this video. THAT'S WHERE THE REALLY GOOD STUFF IS! :-) RR

@@rebeccarobeson1 I think there’s a difference between a trend and a style. In that executive’s home, I noted that there’s medium color wood (avoiding the extremes of the light & dark wood trend pendulum) - an a “nod” to what was contemporary at that time, which was wrought iron and Italianate style. I see the influence of a trend - used with restraint - but even now that the trend has passed, it still feels comfortable rather than outdated.
It can be very difficult to decorate in moderation when all you see in the stores is what’s trendy!!!

I utilize the empty space under the stairs with drawers for storing Christmas Decorations. My fine-finishing carpenter disguised the fronts with panels. You'd never know it was there. I saw this idea years ago in some magazine. He will do something different with the other stairs, maybe a "panic room". ha ha. You, my dear, are an inspiration. I hope you are happy in Tulsa.

The under the stairs dog crate plus the behind the panel luggage storage that had the objects earthquake proof stuck on it are both ingenious. Also one of the things I like about Rebecca is her clever use of lighting. My favorite was probably the fireplace panel that had become a stairway to heaven. The after pictures of that space (without the red furniture) is amazing. But I also like the very long sectional. Mostly because it looked comfortable and custom.

@Tracy Atkins - I think it’s plastic surgery. I just asked the question above about this. Something is different about the way her mouth moves, her expressions and everything seem changed. The texture of her face versus her neck and chest doesn’t match up. I’m just wondering if anyone knows if it’s true and she’s had work done or not? There’s no shame in it, a lot of people do it… I just wondered if that’s why she isn’t looking as natural as she used to. Do you know?

Cleaning your home especially when there are multiple animals in the home. I refrain to visit friends because of the dander/hair and smell. That might be a topic to discuss too! If you dare. But, anyway I loved the last transformed room with the 20f panel ceiling omg! Amazing, beautiful and luxurious!!!! Also, the hidden spaces thinking outside the box was so smart ! In the home we built over 10 years ago, the stairs, that go down to my husband's man cave, go down 6 stairs to a landing and then go down 10 more. Since our granddaughters were young, I decided to put a play area in there for them, complete with table and chairs. All the baby dolls, crafts and coloring stuff were tucked out of sight. If they brought anything out, they knew where to put it back. We now have 2 more younger grand children who love playing in there.

Another great video. I would love to know what’s the smallest, largest and most common budget you’ve worked with for a client (not a friend). The room you showed that looked like a gentleman’s country club looked very posh and like they spent $100k. The transformation was stunning, like not even the same room. When I remodeled my upstairs bath, I found behind my builders' grade tub and surround they had walled up a space 5 feet by 1.5 feet with absolutely nothing in it. Well, that's not totally the case. It had trash ( drink cans, pieces of 2 by 4, sheetrock scraps, etc.) in it, but no duct or electrical! So I had the tub drain and toilet moved, which made a crowded looking bathroom look way larger!

I was surprised to see that those faux-plaster paint finishes are popular in the UK again, they call them “textured”, but I don’t think there is any physical texture added as in some finishes, it’s just a paint effect. Trying to make every house look like a Mediterranean villa seems a bit silly, especially in those Olde English-style modern ones. Flash back to the 90s!

Love your channel. Your not letting us see the spaces long enough. Before and after. It such a flash then back to talking. It just got annoying. . But love the concept.

My husband was able to build in floor -to -ceiling storage shelves in some dead space at the end of the guest bathroom bathtub but opening to the bedroom. I’d share photos, but don’t see how to attach any here. I love the extra storage, as we sized down from a 4 bedroom home to a 2 bedroom.

I have to repeat your videos 2-3 times in a day. You make it so fun and feeling free like just regularly chatting, but making sure you give all information and great ideas you have. ❤️ very admirable 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My living room has chair rail, 1/3 up with wall painted "brown paper bag" color below and beige above the chair rail. I don't like it at all. I'm more boho, minimal. Trying to find videos on how to change - I'm renting - from my mom and she designed this room that is long and narrow with a fireplace in the weirdest place. You should do a show at my house..lol. Thanks for any suggestions!

Loved the make overs. I have a big house but don’t know how to get extra storage. I am somewhat a pack rat. I got some ideals tonight.
