    The only pine I would never paint is an old, mellowed pine floor in the South; otherwise, paint to your heart’s desire! AND that chandler is so cliche, out the front door back to the wild! Can’t wait to see this project in the works and completed!

  • @christijennings9064

    I grew up with lots of cherry wood and mahogany so when I came out west the pine seemed so light. This would have seemed light to me many years ago, but after seeing the finished product, I see how the paint really brightens the space. I like that you kept some of the heritage pine in the ceiling. Good choices!

  • @christijennings9064
    @christijennings9064 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It looks better with the paint, but I am an environmentalist and I think I would have just kept the pine but moved out the furniture. I look your color schemes though too. It is really beautiful. I think it was smart to change the bathrooms so as to better incorporate that beam. It is very smart Sarah. I feel like I am learning from a college professor when I watch these videos. You really offer so much value to us on TH-cam for free. We thank you!

    I LOVE watching designers space plan! You folks come up with things I'd never think of, and I really learn stuff. My votes are for don't paint the ceiling -- paint anything else you want EXCEPT I think I like the antler (shed?) chandelier natural. Gives it a little touch of the rustic that I think this place needs. Ha -- I didn't notice before that the cowboy boot fabric covered ottoman was ripped. Yeah, no need to even say that it goes!

    Sand the beams to take out the yellow in the main room, but leave some natural and paint the ceiling! Where to really paint that pine is in the bathroom. Nix the carpet, it's a cabin. Change out the horizontal wood banister and railings for something more contemporary. Hard to say about the antlers, perhaps just removing the mini lampshades and updating the hardware would help. Maybe some skylights too.

  • @EEN63

    Paint everything! But then knotty pine is not my favourite by far.
    The chandelier - this might be out there but reindeers have extremely short fur on their antlers - like flocking, so maybe flock parts of it and paint a mix of light grey & white. But the flocking might be enough of a texture to soften them a bit. But if they are hunters they might be offended by such.
    I’m excited to see what you do!

    I think Steve is right, if you are going to paint the ceiling than you should spray so you can cover the knots. But spraying means also spraying the beams unless you are going to cover them up to leave them natural. So, cost wise, spraying the whole ceiling will make sense. Flip a coin on that one. Keeping the vertical beams more natural or with a darker stain with light walls would really open up the space. If the client is looking for more modern, then I don't think the antler chandler is going to work there, just my opinion. I love demolition and putting things back together, looking forward to seeing the Sarah touches on this.

    I'd paint everything diagonal white, and leave everything vertical or horizontal a wood finish of some kind. You're probably going to have some kind of wood floor I would imagine, so just to keep from feeling like you're in a pine box, you need to have some large swathes of white to brighten the space and give the architecture some distinction. Right now you don't really focus on all those cool huge beams, because everything is the same finish. If the pitched ceilings go to white, then their contribution is more about the overall shape of the space, which is what makes them cool, and the beams are more about how cool the wood is, their key feature.
