Spring-a-ling-a-ding-dong 💐🌸🌺🌹☀️ I laughed so hard at that part! 😂
Plant Recommend: after you’re done cooking eggs, if you eat eggs, crush the shell and mix it in the soil in the spots you plant your veggies, herbs, flowers, etc. it helps everything grow more rich and helps with the calcium of your garden😁🖤
Same with coffee grinds!
I have no veggie garden tips, but over the past couple of years, I've stopped replanting my house plants directly into the ceramic pot. You're more likely to damage the roots and kill the plant digging it out of the clay pot if you have to repot it. I've learned this the hard way and have had to literally use a hammer to break my $$$ clay pot so my plant would survive. Now I just keep my plants in the plastic pot and slip them into the clay pots. That way, when a plant outgrows the space, i just cut open the plastic and the roots stay nice and healthy. Looks fab, garden tip for your Hostas... slugs love them (well they do in 🇬🇧 anyway) put some copper tape round the rim of your pots to stop them getting in. Also eggs shells on top of the soil. I use a product called “shell on earth” (very sustainable crushed seashells) slugs hate the rough texture

Dill can be very invasive and might strangle the roots of your other herbs! I would recommend putting it in its own pot if you can :)

Maybe the next step might be to get a small greenhouse to grow these types of seedlings and starter plants, and then transfer them into a small backyard “victory garden.”
We got a projector for out door movies - found a great one on Amazon for 80 bucks. 10/10 recommend! So much fun!

Hey, if you don’t already have one, get a compost bin that you can eventually use as feed for your plants! My childhood best friends parents had one and I swear their veg was the best I’ve ever had!

I always look forward to Sunday evenings as it means a new Beech family video! Out of interest, does Josh ever forget to wish his mum a Happy Mothers Day? The reason I ask is that Mothers Day in the UK is in March, & I am guessing that it would be easy to forget the date if you are living in a different country.

Love outdoor living and with a good garden. I'm with Josh about the herbs not erbs, interesting how the English language has changed depending where someone is living.
I've been gardening for a full year now (so not an expert by any means!), but I will say making your own or investing in some good pesticide spray is KEY. There is a LOT you can grow successfully if you have 6-8 hours of sun and weather similar to SoCal. Regular tomatoes and cherry tomatoes are great for Spring/Summer! My garden exploded and gave me over 60 tomatoes from just one plant! Currently my two cherry tomato plants are getting closer to harvesting season and let me tell you girl, I quickly counted and there are already around 40 cherry tomatoes coming! And it keeps flowering til the end of the season (around August, for LA) which is great! Of course, a lot of it has to do with weather and if your plant gets a good amount of sunlight. I advise watering it at least once a day but in the summer in LA, I tend to do twice a day because it's so dry and hot. Arugula and Kale is fantastic pretty much all year around but thrives in the Spring/Summer. Cilantro and basil does best in the Spring and Summer as well. Hostas are fantastic for the shade. They don’t like the sun. Is Bowie enjoying KD as we call it in Canada.I had no idea that in the States they don’t call it KD. How weird.

Looks great. I think some herbs are like weeds and might take over and kill other herbs, definitely mint can do that but not sure about others. I'm just a balcony gardener so not a pro haha

Love the little plant table for your herbs. Did you get that at Home Depot as well?
Your herbs are going to need more space as a person who does a lot of gardening and if you plant vegetables you need lots of space and straw helps to keeps weeds down

I love gardening and it is an activity I love doing with my mom who also loves it. But I just want to share some helpful info. My Mom caught legionnaires disease from potting mix. We never knew that could happen and it nearly killed her she was on a ventilator for 5 days. Thankfully she is all good now but it was scary. We have since learnt that you should be wearing a mask or soak the soil with water as well as wear gloves before tipping or disturbing the soil as it sends up soil dust which is where you get legionnaires from. So please be safe especially as your pregnant right now but even after. Hopefully this doesn’t come across as lecturing but I wish we had known the risks before we had to learn the hard way. Also for the last bit of caution also wash your hands even if wearing gloves. It takes a bit of the fun out of gardening but safety first right. I do believe though once it has been out in the open/outside for a while the microorganisms like legionnaires die off so the risk is then dissipated. Thanks for coming to my TED talk 😂

Next time, should shop local/small biz for your plants rather than big box Home Depot.
Be careful because some herbs can be invasive if they aren’t planted in a separate container, anything in the mint family is known for being particularly invasive, do a quick google search before planting herbs together!

Best gardening tips:
only water when you stick your finger in the soil by the plant and it's really dry
(if your finger comes out completely clean it's very dry, if it comes out completely drenched in mud/dirt you've over watered, need a happy medium)
Mulch really helps with retaining moisture once the heat kicks in this summer be prepared
honestly just a quick google search on things to grow in the summer in Tennessee will help you from making any accidents (no mistakes here just happy accidents and a steep learning curb its just about having fun and learning but it does feel good when you can eat something you helped grow!
