have you tried silver clay? It litterally is silver that molds like clay and then you center it with a torch and it becomes completely solid. I feel like with that you could form and design it on the mold and then center it and just clean and polish it?
Thats a good suggestion! I have tried it with silver clay but its surprisingly frustrating to work with. I have big respect for people that use silver clay and make it look easy! Besides that I borrowed a small kiln to try it out and have since given it back so its off the table for now anyways haha
I saw you use some sort of painters tape to get the exact shape of the nail to use as a stencil of sorts to trace when sawing the metal to the correct shape before forming.
Are you using like acrylic nail sets to get the correct shape in this video? In guessing the tape method doesnt work as well on the hand molds?

@ hey thanks! editing always makes stuff look easy right? I stopped using tape because it really doesn't work that well. Also with the plastic nail templates I can keep them on file with the cast to speed up future orders.

The nails are amazing! I feel like these type of videos are asmr adjacent because it’s very relaxing watching your process and hearing all the fun cutting noises and stuff. Personally I could watch a video of this that’s like three times as long, so maybe try making a longer video where you explain your process a bit more and maybe edit around some of the more intense drilling noises. Personally my ears were not a big fan of those. 🤷🏻♀️🫶🏼

you'll find your happy medium of not too long, not too short. But yes we deff want them a little longer! It'd also be neat to see like a running clock or something showing just how many hours each set takes!

Of course I dont mind! I use 20 gauge sterling from Rio Grande. It thins out a tiny but after its worked and leaves plenty of thickness for engraving or faceting! 🫶

@@StonedMetalwhat hardness do you choose when picking the material? When i go on rio all the sheet silver is advertised with different hardness. Cant wait to make a set for myself
