Yes, you can SLICK DOWN THICK 4C NATURAL HAIR, but it's ALL about the methods and products used! Since Style Factor dropped the new Edge Booster Strong Hold Styling Gel, I had to pick it up from my beauty supply store! Does it really work on 4c hair?!

Yesss!!! 5XYZ!!! I inserted a caption on my WORKOUT results. As much product as I used, my hair was able to maintain its shape/hold, but it doesn't look as fresh/sleek as when I first styled it, right after an intense workout. I have to keep my hair tied in a scarf during a workout or it will puff/frizz! To keep this style in for a few days, more gel is required 😩😩😩 I'm washing my hair ASAP to get this stuff out!

Imagine forcing my 5xyz struggle naps into submission and probably using the whole jar only for the style to last a day! If I’m doing that much work and putting my hair under that much duress I need atleast 5 days wear! I also work out so this ain’t gone cut it but thanks so much for experimenting for us! You slayed!

Guuuuyssss! Get the water based pomade instead of the gel it holds waay better than the actual styling gel I promise! I have 4c hair too I know the struggle
Spritzing your hair with water and oil before you manipulate or lay it down would have helped tremendously. I never dry comb my hair...that’s breakage 101.

She had already detangled her hair so no this wouldn’t cause breakage
How long can you wear it like this?
I have thick long 4c and when I tell you that no gel or edge control lays my edges down. I’ve tried on numerous occasions and it has been a big fail. Long story short I let my edges be free because clearly they’re not meant to be “layed” and I’m fine with that. Great results thou 😍
I came to that conclusion for a while, but I have a new job now and...

Try Keracare edge control/wax - it works wonders on my hair.

Yes you have always looked extremely young without makeup and weave/wigs. I love the peekaboo green eye-shadow! I don't have that kind of time or skill for makeup. Lipstick and occasionally foundation and mascara.

Huuuunty you laid that hair DOWN. I love the pony tails, but that have to be worn the least because it causes so much breakage on our 4c and above hair. This style really looks nice on you and very detailed. Tfs
I hardly ever do ponytails and honestly, my scalp is sooo sensitive to tension, so I barely do styles that require a scrunchie. You're so right about the breakage! But having a cute switch up right before wash day is everything ! Thanks for tuning in!

Nice changeup Pink and it looks great on you! My go to hairstyle but, the breakage is real if worn too often. I love the Ponytail because of the convenience and various ways you can style it with little effort.

The key to slicking the hair down is to use a very soft brush for finishing. It smoothies every little price out.

For 4c hair a great combination for gel is a edge booster strong hold water-based mini pomade with olive oil eco styler gel. It really slicks the hair down also don't forget to use a scarf to hold the hair down.

I am not sure what texture my hair is, however sad to say a pony tail ( professionally styled] really did a number on my hair. Definitely too much tension, products after a take down and fresh wash. Glad to hear your suggestions on how to safely install. You definitely look like a teenager with out hair & makeup!
As a base I recommend aunt Jackie’s dont shrink flaxseed will get your 4C into a pointyail very quickly and then go over the top with something for frizz
Loving the hairstyle and your honesty.
You right not all 4c is the same...some 4c hair is fizzy and some is not hence why some have curls..some 4c is thin and some is thick.. I have thick semi frizzy 4a/b hair. I’ve learned to tame my frizz by keeping my cuticles down. Meaning when I shampoo I use my tangle teezer to brush the shampoo down my hair ...I don’t pile my hair on top and scrub anymore.

I'm tired of people putting 4c in their video and I'm like girl please stop 😂 loved the results and yes i can attest to the struggles of those water based gels that will completely revert out hair back!!!!!! Great tips about adding the oil over the pomade cause hunny I've used it because and had that crazy white residue left.. lol i had to cover it up with black eye shadow. But I will be trying this look over again with these tips. Xoxo

ok so it does get white you just have to do, like all others, put a oil/moisturizer over it to keep that away.

Use water all the way through then gel on top. Then wrap. Im 5E lol and it works. Love ponytails.
