When a car manufacturer sells faulty/dangerous vehicles they have to do a recall and remedy all those affected at their own cost. Don’t see how there can’t be legislation to force the same outcome on developers.

All this in plain sight of a government that has no interest in holding corporate developers to account. Why are company executives being allowed to avoid responsibility for their deliberate actions to undermine building safety and quality. They look like the real things from a distance. But once you get closer and actually look, you realise that it isn't. Brits pay full price for a building, but the build quality, fit & finish is absolutely terrible.

    • @111Econ

I have lived in the... Slums of Birmingham as a student to living in a completely newly built house. The standards are shockingly bad regardless. Were talking standards like you would see in Poland and some ex soviet countries.
When I was back to living in the UK for 2016-2018, I lived in the extremely expensive, super posh villages around the Thames, and its the same story all over again. British housing standards are just incredibly low. But try to tell them that... Almost impossible. They live in the idea that they are better than other countries.
Probably due to being slightly better than southern countries. But they don't have to deal with the British weather, do they.

Hahaha no. There is nobody else to blame this on. The EU has restrictions and regulations. Far tighter than the UK has. Or... There are plenty of those in the UK too. But it doesn't look like they are followed.
Or houses are built to JUST squeak by the rules. I really don't know. But the quality of life in the UK is truly amazingly low compared to countries that you would think it was safe to compare with.
But I know, I know... Telling Brits this is very difficult. But Im also 100% sure I could find rot and mold in your house. And that's not normal.

I've been pulled off several projects because I held builders to the specifications that they were to be paid for. I was deemed "a troublemaker", "difficult to work with", and anything else to deflect from best practice. As a consequence, my career and financial well-being suffered when all I wanted to do was act with integrity and see that the end user got the best possible dwelling for their money.
Towards the end of the 1990's, I was aware that the pending changes to the 'Landlord & Tenants Act' was going to lean towards the Landlord's interest. I left the city in which I was born and raised to avoid becoming a leaseholder.
Grenfell tower fire hit me hard because when I was studying "means of escape", I had sleepless nights for the fear of fire hung heavy on my mind.
It's all so sad, especially as the industry would consider my views as naive.
As far as I can remember ('70s) only Lord McAlpine came from a construction background into government. Many more are required, but they would need to have integrity. I won't hold my breath.

All a revolution does is kill a lot of civilians, break a great deal of infrastructure, and plunge a country into uncertain dictatorship which eventually becomes that they had come to destroy. And with a combination of First Past the Post voting, heavy control on opposition election spending, a press which is paid for by the government, ever greater gerrymandering, and a lack of interest in honesty when a good lie will do and no one will credibly care, this government will be in power for a very very long time.

I saw one video on the cladding scandal where they said many of the flat owners bought flats because they couldn't afford houses.
One person paid 230k for a flat! That's city living for you. I live in a small town where the jobs are rubbish and wages poor but I bought my 3bed 50s built semi detached house with the freehold for 70k. So in some areas houses are a lot cheaper than flats. I managed to get a single person mortgage where my monthly payment is only 1/7th of my monthly net wage though my wage is only the UK average.
So there's plenty of good deals out there. You just have to be savvy and have property knowledge, never ever (as I was taught by my parents when I was a teenager some 30 years ago), have anything to do with the scam that is leasehold property. What you see in this video is the consequences of that scam which are totally unfair to the leaseholder but under archaic laws, the leaseholder can be made to pay.

This would include dividing the mortgage into 10 too. Once Mortgage is paid, put home up instantly for sale (maybe even before), and divide profits into 10 and just get the heck out of there. Could be a chance to help someone make money in the future who would never be able to buy a home too. 3 months of missed mortgage payments, means they would only be entitled to 10,000 back and 2% of profit when house is sold.

Now, people who had NOTHING to do with the unsafe development of buildings and other things are told THEY'RE responsible for the costs of fixing things?? That's completely F*¢ked up.

So we thought anyway, because shortly after the council said we couldn't live in it without paying them 40k to conduct repairs. So we ended up losing the house and back to renting. The funny thing is, we would still be living in it and the council would have footed the 40k repair bill if the right to buy scheme didn't exist. In our case, it was more like the my mom was given the right to lose our family home.

Advice, Avoid all new builds until the construction companies stop the pat on the back mentality and look other way to planning and quality checks ethos, not only for safety, but for lack of genuine quality built homes.
Also, this could become a money making scheme for all construction companies who will look to make more profit from their errors and will aim to increase the dangerous materials list ever more to get people and the government/Tax payers to pay for the removel of these poor materials. The number one thing to get in a new build is a quality fire alarm and have regular services and maintenance in flats.

And then there’s all the Brexit induced crises like the supply chain collapse, the induction of checks, the loss of staff for most industries. And on top of that is the lazy response to Afghanistan, the abandonment of key manifesto pledges, the mismanagement of immigration…
The list goes on. There are far too many issues to address directly to the government, and Labour need to focus on the ones that will win them the most seats.

To be sincerely speaking in my humble opinion without being sentimental and of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my opinion but rather looking into this serious matter with perspective distinction and without condemning anyone's point of view, i honestly think and believe that i have nothing to say.

Get real security into your life. Trust always in the Lord God and live always by the true teaching of Yeshua, better known as Jesus.
Avoid all religions; even that of the pope and Christianity; because religions are all led by the many false prophets that are misleading all their followers. When Jesus had already warned us to beware of them all, almost 2,000 years ago. For he alone (in the name of Immanuel) is the Son of man and the true Prophet who was sent by the Lord God, to be always our one Teacher…
These are the words of the Lord God:
“I will raise up for them a prophet like you [Moses] from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth.” - (at Deuteronomy 18: 18) -
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: A young woman is with child, and she will bear a son, and will call him Immanuel.” [“God is with us”] - (The Prophet Isaiah 7: 14) -
“If you have ears to hear, then hear.” - (Jesus, in the name of Immanuel, the Messiah, at Mark 4: 23) -
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” - (at John 4: 24) -
“In truth I tell you, anyone who gives heed to what I say and puts his trust in him who sent me, has hold of eternal life and does not come up for judgement, but has already passed from death to life.” - (at John 5: 24) -
“Beware of false prophets, men who come to you dressed up as sheep while underneath they are savage wolves. You will recognize them by the fruits they bear.” - (at Matthew 7: 15-16) -
“Do not call any man on earth ‘father’; for you have one Father and he is in heaven. Nor must you be called ‘teacher’; you have one Teacher, the Messiah.” - (Matthew 23: 9-10) -
“Take care that no one misleads you: For many will come claiming my name…” - (Jesus, at Matthew 24: 4) -
“Many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many; and as lawlessness spreads, men’s love for one another will grow cold. But the man who holds out to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the Kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the earth as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come.” - (Matthew 24: 11-14) -
“I am the way; I am the truth and I am life; no one comes to the Father except by me. If you knew me you would know my Father too.” - (John 14: 6-7) -
“When you pray, go into a room by yourself, and shut the door. Pray to your Father who is there in the secret place; and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you.
In your prayers do not go babbling on like the heathen, who imagine that the more they say the more likely they are to be heard.
Do not imitate them. Your Father knows what your needs are before you ask him.
This is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven,
Give us today our daily bread,
Forgive us the wrong we have done, as we have forgiven those who have wronged us.
And do not bring us to the test, but save us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, for ever.
    Amen.
For if you forgive others the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, then the wrongs you have done will not be forgiven by your Father.” - (at Matthew 6: 6-15) -
“Pass no judgement, and you will not be judged. For as you judge others, so you will yourselves be judged, and whatever measure you deal out to others will be dealt back to you.” - (Matthew 7: 1-2) -
“Truly I tell you; if anyone obeys my teaching he shall never know what it is to die.” - (John 8: 51) -
“Always treat others as you would like them to treat you: that is the Law and the Prophets.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.” - (Matthew 7: 12-14) -
“I am the gate; anyone who comes into the fold through me shall be safe. He shall go in and out and shall find pasturage.
The thief comes only to steal, to kill, to destroy; I have come that men may have life, and may have it in all its fullness.” - (John 10: 9-10) -
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” - (Matthew 7: 21) -
“I am the resurrection and I am life. If a man has faith in me, even though he dies, he shall come to life; and anyone who is alive and has faith shall never die.” - (John 11: 25-26) -

“I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world” - (John 12: 47) -
“Whoever will acknowledge me before men, I will acknowledge him before my Father in heaven; and whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” - (Matthew 10: 32-34) -
“Any plant that is not of my heavenly Father’s planting will be rooted up. Leave them alone; they are blind guides, and if one blind man guides another they will both fall into the ditch.” - (Matthew 15: 13-14) -
“The disciples came to Jesus and asked, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?’
He called a child, set him in front of them, and said, ‘I tell you this: unless you turn round and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven.
Let a man humble himself till he is like this child, and he will be the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me. But if a man is a cause of stumbling to one of these little ones who have faith in me, it would be better for him to have a millstone hung round his neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Alas for the world that such causes of stumbling arise! Come they must, but woe betide the man through who they come!’” - (Matthew 18: 1-7) -
“Though many are called, few are chosen.” - (Matthew 22: 14) -

“An expert in the law, [a leading religious Pharisee] tested him with this question: ‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. That is the greatest commandment. It comes first. The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.
Everything in the Law and the Prophets hangs on these two commandments.’” - (Matthew 22: 35-40) -
“There is no greater love than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friends.” - (John 15: 13) -
"Stay awake, and pray that you may be spared the test: The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." - (Matthew 26: 41) -
“However, when he comes who is the Spirit of truth; he will guide you into all the truth.” - (John 16: 13) -
“Teach them to observe all that I have commanded you. And be assured, I am with you always, to the end of time.” - (Matthew 28: 20)
Yours, in true Spirit and in our one given prayer, 2gointruth, on Friday the 3rd of September, 2021: - (Matthew 5: 14-16) - Where every minute (of both day and night) can be a new beginning for any one of us. Let it always be you. Pray to God often, as prescribed above, before it is too late.
