I can't understand why a building made primarily of steel is demolished by ball and chain when a metal shear on a high reach excavator would be better.
It's a case of "run what you brung." The operator is a good one; I've seen him in person, and he knows what he's doing. He's making good progress on this job. I agree that a high-reach demo excavator with a shear would be a good choice for this steel-framed building, especially for taking out the columns, but, once again, the contractor felt the job could be handled with crane-and-ball.
@@mariotorres6287 maybe sometimes it's also a question of cost. A proven, depreciated machine is so much cheaper per hour than an expensive new excavator that you can take a little longer.
