It's a shame about the external damage and scratching of the boat, and not forgetting the demise of your port navigational light, but I think you will you need them (port and Starboard lights) when your next on a River. Well done for patching up the outside of your boat and repainting same. Chris you did an amazing paint job. I loved the mock edit, placing Becca in charge of the boat when it hit the bridge. All things considered I think the most annoying bit of damage must have been your nice new cratch cover, your paint touching up looks pretty acceptable and certainly looks better than dabs of red oxide , basically the main thing is you are both ok and lived to create more entertaining vlogs, take care both of you.

Best bit of DIY you have done Chris, looks great. If you want to go all posh look at car filler for the cratch cover corner. Keep that bit of the bridge as ballast, it might bring you luck and in years to come you will look at it an laugh about that time you were newbies and hit a bridge. Remember experienced boaters have trouble on rivers so neither of you did anything wrong and neither of you were to blame it's just part of boating.

You have the best channel, warts and all. My heart sank 😢 when you crashed so it’s good to see the repairs worked well. The sooner you get on a CANAL with your CANAL boat the better as the river flow really got the better of you. I loved the reworking of the video blaming Becks for the crash 😂 then to add insult to injury the red nose jokes came. She is an angel, but I think you know that already.

I thought there would be damage internally. I didn’t realize how these things were constructed. A bit of cosmetic damage really,and luckily the chimney didn’t get knocked off. Good to see you chuffed with your repairs too Chris. Keep truckin
these things are made of steel, there so strong, the cover and the light seam to be the main issues so a small setback, cheers Dave one she all ready you'll have to come say hi

Your getting better at your colour matching Chris , got job . The cratch cover could be repaired by stitching a patch of fabric in but i think thats for the experts . The more little trips you guys do the better at handling your narrowboat will improve :-)
practice makes perfect, im slowly getting better , were hoping the lady that made the cover may be able to fix it for us, it had been a while since last taking throat out so yes I think with a bit more practice weekly we won't run into these sort of problems
The most damage caused was to your pride, wood and steel can easily be repaired. NarrowboatWill coined it when he said narrow boating is a contact sport. Anyway you both look a bit shaken but your spirit and humour will see you through looking forward to the next vlog guys take care of each other 😊

The damage isn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought, fine for me to say that when I don’t have to fix it or pay for it to be fixed but still you were lucky as hell. The cracth cover not so cheap to fix and something that can’t be ignored as leaks could be a problem and big winds may rip it even more. I’m so sorry this happened to you I honestly am but look at the bright side it could have been much worse and that bit of the bridge you can turn into a wall feature. Good luck guys. If you go to car boot sale, look for a vintage singer sewing machine. Very good for repairing heavy duty material. See if you can get a patch fer the cover
I was actually just saying to Bex if we could put a sort of patch on it, it may actually make it look a bit fun, plus when the next one comes along it won't look out of place :)
Could your cover be repaired by the lady who made it? Seems like she might be able to just replace the damaged panel? Love how you remixed the tape but looking close you were driving in that video too. The painting did cover well. When it does come time to repaint the entire boat you will be an expert paint mixer and color matching. Susan
yes I think thats was hopefully the idea, maybe just get that side bit redone if we can, will be a lot cheaper, Thanks Susan...see it was Bex all along haha when we come to paint the boat fully in the future it will all tie in anyway but not a bad little cover up if you ask me for now
The blue canvas cover, just sow by hand and melt candlewax on the seem.(s) Little cloth at the inside would be wise i think. Great editing again!! and music. And right on the money with the color. You really cant see.
Damage wasn't as bad as I thought it might have been. You did really well with the paint touch ups and there are a few companies that do canopy repairs so hopefully they can help with that. I think the sun did more damage to you guys than that nasty bridge did 😂
no I was quite surprised, the cover was heartbreaking but nothing that cant be fixed, we are actually going to see if the lady that made it could possibly fix it, as if 'getting hit by the bridge' wasn't enough...the sun thought would have a go too
What is slightly disconcerting at 3:33 is that the chipped paint should reveal bare(-ish) metal not thick rust!...just saying. PS send that piece of the bridge back to Natioanl Heritage in an annonymous jiffy bag.
it wouldn't surprise me with the luck we have had but in this incident I believe its part of that poor historic bridge... bridge dust...we are in a way a portable Jiffy bag travelling...with just a slightly thicker lining

Approached the bridge much too fast, I would of come to nearly a stop, then one person at the front of the boat can then gently push against the bridge brickwork to push the boat away as you gradually stir it through the arch.
yes that would have been a better option, the current was bringing us unfortunately but maybe I should have reversed , quite a few factors at bay...hopefully I learn from it, thanks for your comment

Were going to write to the ea and tell them they need to repair the bumper to the bridge as its been missing for what looks like a long long time and stops boats from hitting into it, it's not fair on the boaters damaging there boats, far to many boats are going into it ( 4 including us in a few hours), it also really needs to be sign posted better it was quite unclear until the last minute , boaters pay alot of money for the river licence these things need to be taken care of really especially if they want to protect there grade 1 bridge,thanks Malcolm

Your getting better at your colour matching Chris , got job . The cratch cover could be repaired by stitching a patch of fabric in but i think thats for the experts . The more little trips you guys do the better at handling your narrowboat will improve :-)

The most damage caused was to your pride, wood and steel can easily be repaired. NarrowboatWill coined it when he said narrow boating is a contact sport. Anyway you both look a bit shaken but your spirit and humour will see you through looking forward to the next vlog guys take care of each other 😊

The damage isn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought, fine for me to say that when I don’t have to fix it or pay for it to be fixed but still you were lucky as hell. The cracth cover not so cheap to fix and something that can’t be ignored as leaks could be a problem and big winds may rip it even more. I’m so sorry this happened to you I honestly am but look at the bright side it could have been much worse and that bit of the bridge you can turn into a wall feature. Good luck guys. If you go to car boot sale, look for a vintage singer sewing machine. Very good for repairing heavy duty material. See if you can get a patch fer the cover

Could your cover be repaired by the lady who made it? Seems like she might be able to just replace the damaged panel? Love how you remixed the tape but looking close you were driving in that video too. The painting did cover well. When it does come time to repaint the entire boat you will be an expert paint mixer and color matching. Susan

The blue canvas cover, just sow by hand and melt candlewax on the seem.(s) Little cloth at the inside would be wise i think.

Damage wasn't as bad as I thought it might have been. You did really well with the paint touch ups and there are a few companies that do canopy repairs so hopefully they can help with that. I think the sun did more damage to you guys than that nasty bridge did 😂
no I was quite surprised, the cover was heartbreaking but nothing that cant be fixed, we are actually going to see if the lady that made it could possibly fix it, as if 'getting hit by the bridge' wasn't enough...the sun thought would have a go too

Red Oxide is porous.....(not a water tight seal) its a primer only so the sooner you get your gloss topcoat on the better.

What is slightly disconcerting at 3:33 is that the chipped paint should reveal bare(-ish) metal not thick rust!...just saying. PS send that piece of the bridge back to Natioanl Heritage in an annonymous jiffy bag.
it wouldn't surprise me with the luck we have had but in this incident I believe its part of that poor historic bridge... bridge dust...we are in a way a portable Jiffy bag travelling...with just a slightly thicker lining

Approached the bridge much too fast, I would of come to nearly a stop, then one person at the front of the boat can then gently push against the bridge brickwork to push the boat away as you gradually stir it through the arch.
yes that would have been a better option, the current was bringing us unfortunately but maybe I should have reversed , quite a few factors at bay...hopefully I learn from it, thanks for your comment

Probably not a easy question but was there any legal flak from bridge damage?
Were going to write to the ea and tell them they need to repair the bumper to the bridge as its been missing for what looks like a long long time and stops boats from hitting into it, it's not fair on the boaters damaging there boats, far to many boats are going into it ( 4 including us in a few hours), it also really needs to be sign posted better it was quite unclear until the last minute , boaters pay alot of money for the river licence these things need to be taken care of really especially if they want to protect there grade 1 bridge,thanks Malcolm
