They say, that Carrack captained by Lorn Needa could act as interdictor cruiser... on account of his massive balls. You forgot to mention that during Battle of Coruscant Needa engaged Grievous into a word battle, and dropped mike by basically saying "Boring conversation, eat lasers, LMAO".
It seems to me that the Empire should have used the Carrack Class more extensively but generally, cruiser production was less of a priority to the imperial naval during the Empire's reign. What is your opinion of the Carrack?
@@sword4005 The Lancer has no heavy weapons that can give it a chance against anything other than starfighters and possibly corvette-class ships. It also can't outrun heavier vessels that can overpower it.
I think it's speed and heavy ion armament is the key. Otherwise it is eaten for breakfast by an Accumulator. Particularly in crew efficiency and cargo space. I suspect its comparatively compact size may be due to fitting into a standard type of shipyard. Maybe cross compatible in dimensions with some civvy bulk transports? Major weakness is its lack of shuttles imo.
Yes, finally, coverage of this under appreciated workhorse. Thank you. Probably my favorite ship of the old expanded universe and one I would include in any fleet I would assemble. Long Live the Empire! Now we need a video about the CSA's Marauder-class corvette, another (very) old fav of mine.
Love the video! Bread and butter ships like the Carrick are often forgotten- But also want to mention the numbers at 4:13 don't match what you say. I imagine a common refit must be to pull some of the weapons for a shuttle bay, or simply to save on crew.
Carrack Class Light Cruiser. My favorite light cruiser. Effective when deployed correctly but weak against large capital ships. Very good against other smaller vessels. Sadly it wasn't used as often as it should've like the Lancer.
Pair the two together and most rebels and pirates would be in for a very bad time. Add and escort carrier and you have an excellent hunter/killer flotilla for the early Imperial period.
@@giladpellaeon1691Yeah it’s a shame the Empire didn’t utilize this Cruiser and the Lancer Frigate as much as they should have. They could have instead on focusing on so many ISD’s built more support vessels and worked on cruisers such as the Vindicator.
Lancer was a vicious anti-figther ship in game. Priority #1 when jumping into a fight as a Rebel player. Keep fights far away as the few cruisers fought the lancers then swam ISD1 or 2s with snub fighters
A common misconception is that the Empire overused Star Destroyers against the Rebels but in reality smaller ships like the Carrack and Lancer were far more common than Star Destroyers and most engagements with the rebels were against smaller ships, a Star Destroyer showing up general meant the Rebels gets annihilated if they couldn't run away.
Thrawn used cloaked ones in his strike at Ukio by towing them under the planetary shields with freighters and having C'Baoth to coordinate their turbolaser fire with the orbiting ISDs to make it appear the blasts were penetrating the shields.
I remember having these guys mixed in with my dreadnoughts in Empire at War. they die pretty quickly fighting against other Capital ships, they're decent is flank attack ships though
@@ImperialsExplained i recommend mods of thrawn revenge, or awakening of the rebellion once you beat the tutorial aka the single player campaign, also never use auto resolve you lose half your forces to like single enemy

skip the Carrack and use Lancer-class instead

@@sword4005 The Carrack could actually run down some rebel fighters (Y-wings at least) plus fight off most ships the early Rebellion could field.

How have I not found this channel before? Huge fan of the Empire, especially their ships and equipment.
I remember playing TIE Fighter and going up against a Carrack class without a shielded fighter was almost always a suicide mission.
Four of the anti-fighter version per Star destroyer, would have ruined the rebels entire doctrine.

I second the Marauder Corvette video suggestion.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for pointing the crew numbers. It was a pure editing mistake on my part. It won't happen on the next video 👍
@@ImperialsExplained Really enjoyed the video! Thanks for making it!
4:10 Mistake here, the crew numbers listed verbally are wildly different from the ones shown on screen.
Thanks for pointing out. I will check future content before going out 👍

@@Evan_Adams The ones l said
If Needa was in his old Carrack, the millennium Falcon wouldn't have stood a chance. 😂
I use these ships so much in Republic at War

An excellent video my friend, I look forward to ones on the Gorath Cruiser, Imperial Patrol Frigate, Adz Patrol Destroyer
Thanks 👍 l have noted those three vessels for future videos. Thanks gain 👍
It feels like they wouldn't last too long against an ISD or larger but still a useful fleet vessel against starfighters
Got to love these tough little ships.

This ship design reminds me of Thrawn Katana Fleet that appears in the three books of Thrawn in Star Wars Legends.
Thrawn used cloaked ones in his strike at Ukio by towing them under the planetary shields with freighters and having C'Baoth to coordinate their turbolaser fire with the orbiting ISDs to make it appear the blasts were penetrating the shields.
I personally am more of a dreadnaught-class cruiser fan, but the carrack is still cool. It reminds me a lot of Space 1999

I used to use it as a scout in sw rebellion. Basically had one just visiting every outer rim planet until it found rebel bases lol
I love space bricks. I'll take a rectangle with covered guns and cool engines any day. Great ship. I want one.
I heard a lot of good things about them
have these when playing empire at war ,they never survive a battle
It's not as tough as the Lore makes out, then 😅
I am just starting to play Empire at War, so any tips are welcome 👍

Long Live The Empire!
Where's the gigantic bridge window?
I think this is a variant Carrack, as it appears to have shuttered plates over the windows. It also appears to have extra firepower and turbelasers.
Seems logical
I don't like it without the oversized fake viewport. Fractal goes too far in a lot of place.s
