Can you try to holp the horseshoe button to see if it has a second fuction Iron Bias related? As the image shown in my last comment below? I'm curious about it since it seems to have a double function according to it. Thank you Paul!
As a beginner without a pin pointer, was a good showing as to reality of difficulty without one. As far as the machine goes, seems to be on the better side of, above average, I'd say. Thanks Paul for showing us the machine in the field. GL&HH
Great video Paul You show the real world of digging First we have the detector Then the pinpointer 😀 Then we begin with a small shovel en with the years pass it Get bigger en bigger and stonger and heavy But like you show us its the detector that must do it Thanks for the great info you gave us Mine is on preorder 👍
You could have used the pin pointer feature on your metal detector as you were trying to locate the target around the hole. Also, you had a bracelet with metal that probably was making your detector go off as you were swiping the dirt clods across the coil. That detector looks like a cross between a Whites Coin master/Prism and a Garrett Ace 250, but with extra buttons on the sides.
To his credit he did say he didn't bring his pinpointer, sometimes those things do happen especially if you know the gear is always in the detector bag and such. I've gone without a pinpointer several times some knowingly leaving it and ithert times just plain old forgetting. Here's a free idea for those in r&d for metal detecting that will get you your bonus, ready? So for the next future model of Whites,Minelab,Garret or other makers. Have an additional small pinpointer that slides in and out of the detectors lcd panel or an attached shaft sheath to hold the micro pinpointer in the event you drop your target like this chap did. You would simply slide out the micropinpointer look for it and bingo!,done. It has to be small enough to be discreet and blend into the design of the MD, battery efficient of course one on par or better with current external models, rechargable. There's been guys in the hobby that have external pinpointers but are massive and just plain ol U-G-L-Y. I'm an aesthetics guy and I would pay for a little PP to always be onboard with my outings. What you think?
I bought my first detector and went out to the beach on Saturday, 10 hours later my wife and brother and mother were all calling me thinking I'd died 😂, next day I wish I had, every muscle in my body hurts, and I now know I need a pin pointer too😁
🤔 that review didn't sell it to me. I'm wanting to upgrade from a Teknetics Eurotek Pro.....I think this may be a downgrade really. It looks to Garrett Ace like for my liking.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to show us the all new Vanquish. Interesting to see it working on the field and would be equally interesting to see it working on wet/dry sand. In your opinion how does it compare with the equinox ? Cheers in advance Paul 👍 HH Tony
P.s. thank God minelab makes metal detectors that actually make appealing noises. God my old Whites mxt raped my ears every time I used it. Thank you minelab for not violating my ear holes.
Interesting detector very similar to the nox but I did pick up a few subtle differences which would be useful for my type of detecting .Can you get different size coils ? Thanks for the video.
Looks good for the money, beach test will be the clincher Paul , but best camouflage it from Buster. Did I hear rumour of a new download for the nox coming soon.
@@HoppingHedges Thanks! I was toying with getting one for my bride. But, I may buy an Excalibur for water hunting and let her use my 800. If I buy the 540 I probably wouldn't use it if she decides it's not all glam and treasure😁 it's a little different when I show up and say "look what I found". And she says, "that's mine" LOL 😁
Well.. Haven't use it yet but if I look at the image showing all button's functions, we can see that on the 540, the All metal button serves also for Iron Bias. Can you try it out and confirm it with me?
Pull off that gold necklace and show what that reads.Frankly speaking:I'm sticking with the Nox 800.Not a lot more money and waterproof. Here in Washington State(think rainy ol' England type of weather) you really do need a waterproof machine as it seems to get a lot of rain.I have older detectors that I had to hunt with a bag over the controls and that isn't always effective to keep out the water.Nothing like waiting to see if the controls are any good after a couple days in the rice, lol.
Every comment “should have a shovel and a pin pointer” you don’t need a pin pointer, mark out where it is dig with knife and run handfuls over coil......old school with the claret Garrett lol Ps it’s an oval coil which throws accuracy off and it’s a prototype
There is going to be alot of hate from the community when this detector comes out. All the people who spent hundreds more on Garrett whites makro ect are going to be talking shit because these inexpensive detectors outperform their much pricier machines. Going to get alot of salty people saying they prefer their Ace 250....
Man minelab must be cringing that you made this video without a pinpointer. Reminds me of when I got my first machine, a whites mxt. .....no pi pinpointer. Didn't know I needed one. I sat at the first few holes for hours trying to find the target. Didnt go out again till a pinpointer came in the mail.
Paul I appreciate the attempt you made on this review, however it was painful to watch. Please, please, next time come prepared, pouch, pinpointer, shovel, and remove jewelry from both wrists.

Simple to use & has the Minelab reputation. I like it. I'd like it better with a PP & bigger shovel.
I would of liked a pinpointer to find those dang dinky bits 🙈

Full marks for great British determination and spirit mate 👍
Multi IQ makes this a great machine for the money.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Happy Hunting.

Its a junior version of the equinox tony obviously not as deep etc but still multi iq..
who goes without a shovel and a pinpointer!
Me for one and plenty of others
@@paulcee Yeah I very done that too....Doh

It would be good if the vanquish coils would fit equinox considering they are based on the same technology
Interesting detector very similar to the nox but I did pick up a few subtle differences which would be useful for my type of detecting .Can you get different size coils ? Thanks for the video.
Yes there are alternative coils the 12" is the largest
What’s the best batteries for these machines pal?
RNB Innovations for about 30hrs on a single charge ▶ th-cam.com/video/QawZym8r0CM/w-d-xo.html
Hi Paul, how does the custom search mode work - are you able to change any settings like recovery speed or is it only a custom notch filter?
It does do the job 👍
Awesome vid brother!
Fast forward six months...........would love to hear your comments.
Looks good for the money, beach test will be the clincher Paul , but best camouflage it from Buster. Did I hear rumour of a new download for the nox coming soon.
Hes already tried it..😢 yes it should be out in a couple of weeks
Please remove metal object from your left wrist as well! Pretty good depth! I wish you would have done the test with correct side of coil though....
Think I would have stopped the review, headed back, got pinpointer & shovel, resumed the review, that looked too hard work :-)
Will the wireless headphones that came with my Nox 800 link to this detector?
Yes on the 540 model martin
@@paulcee Thanks!
Any wireless headphones work with the Equinox and will probably also work with the Vanquish.

You have a pinpointer lol. The machine! This is the problem of relying on a pinpointer and not having learnt how to recover a target without one.
Cool video Paul mate what kind of price will the top model be ? ....next time spade i think lol 😀👌
Derek the range is 340-£229, 440-£299, 540-£399, 540pro-£499
The ground was rock solid and still too much for a spade in places derek
What about the Iron bias feature?
Pre set same as recovery speeds per programme
@@paulcee no its engaged by the same button as the All metal one. You can switch from high bias to low bias. Look at it.

It does not look like it can compete with my TEKNETICS T2+ so I will keep what I have and be happy.
Zde je vidět proč je dobré míti dohledávačku 😀
vaše není špatné
It’s ok ,not going get to excited about the release
You got to get a pin pointer mate
3:03 , 3:07 , 4:21 min. empty hand signal ???
Nope

waterproof up to the control box same multi iq used in equinox so will work wet sand

I apologize for being so critical, I know making videos isn't easy. GL, HH
Where is your shovel and pinpointer omg
Tacky looking to be honest
Sound and ID is equinox just not water proof. Try it on shallow salt water Paul
its a baby equinox thats all, will going on the beach yes
Do not take a knife to a gunfight lol.

Who goes out in a field without a spade and a pinpointer what a joke
Buy made in the USA
No need to be so offended, I'm just patriotic.
It's hard not to use/buy imported when our politicians destroyed manufacturing in America. We finally voted in a real leader
@Finders-Keepers politicians got us into this through regulation and bureaucratic red tape, getting rid of that really helps
Pinpoints about as good as an Equinox 800 - Crappy!
