I knew Milan was going to rule European football for the coming decade when Ancelotti brought him together with Pirlo in a team. It is amazing how Ancelotti merged the two midfield masters in the same squad without any conflicts at all. The result is sea amount of assistance to the legendary forwards - Inazaghi and Shevchenko.
It did help Milan dominate but for him individually, I think a move to England or Spain would of been best at the end of the 90s. Can only imagine the player he would of been in the Prem with a team like United instead of Verón
This Portuguese squad played so well, Rui Costa, Luís Figo, João Pinto, Sá Pinto, Nuno Gomes... They had that same flair Barcelona had in their best years, most players were very similar, knew how to play with the ball, made good passes, great runs. With a bit more experience they would reach finals and win cups more often for sure. The rest was all there, talent and how they could cover most positions instead of the current way of playing which is flanking, flanking, flanking without any midfield game.

If Portugal had a guy like Henry during the 90s and early/mid 2000s, we could have had a strong chance to win World Cup and Euro. Rui Costa and Figo had no one to pass to. Nuno Gomes and Pauleta were good, but were not elite level to complement our strong midfield
Rui was better playmaker than Zizou.. His vision & killer pass were unreal.. He’s not only as decisive & goalscorer like zizou.. But Rui was one technically gifted & genius.. Also his trademark gliding dribble were joy to watched..

Rui was as good as Zizu in terms of football skill but Zizu edges on Trophies....
Zizu was more goalscorer and decisive. Rui Costa was more of a playmaker and facilitator. Both great in their own ways.
