I am a Porto fan but this guy was amazing, i grew up watching him in the Portugal national team and he was definitely my favorite. Most people loved Figo but Rui costa had more to his game, i feel he controlled the game more especially the midfield, got everyone playing and for me my best ever Portuguese player.

BECAUSE it's so physical and tactical........a lot of the "magic" in players has been coached out of them..........or simply the only kids getting to pro level are the ones with more athleticism to their game.

it's a shame we can't see a player like this in football these days. Football is too fast and full of running machines in the middle of the park thereby reducing the space and time on the ball.
Players like these can excel in any era. Football has been way too robotic and monotonous, Rui Costa would stick out easily in midfield.
