A sedan would only work if AMC badged it as an Eagle. Sort of like an off road Suburu. But with the spirit of a Jeep. But i really can't see that. Maybe a hatchback. AMC has great ideas. But to compete with Suburu, either expand the Eagle brand or resurrect the Willys name.
The first few look like Range Rovers. But maybe im seeing things. I feel AMC should have use the straight six from the get go. Would been interesting if AMC would have badged tje SJ Cherokee as the Grand Cherokee. Just like they did the Waggoner.

Interesting cadillac style grill and headlights on that other prototype, looks a lot like the earlier cherokees except for the grill. Would be an interesting face swap aftermarket. Kinda like the wrap around marker light. What strikes me a lot about the cherokees is the similarities to the Volvo station wagons of the time. Those double headlights, marker lights, and grill could also resemble volvo.
I love the 14 slot grill one! Very sleek! Those hood vent/cowl vents may have helped a lot with overheating issues. There is room for those on current hood designs, as there is a big gap between the top of the engine and the hood in that area.
concepts are all right but I'm glad they chose the one they chose cuz I have an 87 Jeep Cherokee you see it here on the page and I like its body style a little bit better those ones seem pretty bland you know boxy and Bland you know Cherokee is already pretty blocky and Bland but has a little bit more curves than detail to it than those Concepts plus the grill just being a solid Grill doesn't say Jeep

I've seen a picture of a concept xj that was 2 door with a trunk like the sedan picture but 2 door, and the back window had more angle.
