    I used snap ring pliers to get my 775a ring to say full on the tightest setting, it probably shifted on yours at some point.

      You're very welcome! I hope yours treats you well. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before another one follows me home. Take care and thanks for the subscription, I greatly appreciate it.

    I suspect Lyman made the choke for Savage, it looks like the Lyman Cutts Compensator with a Poly-Choke on it, all made by Lyman at the time IIRC.

      There's usually a good selection on Ebay depending on the gauge you're looking for. But, like everything else nowadays they're going up in price.

    Just to throw a little shit into the game.....for the J.C. Higgins POWER-PAC choke tubes and similar where the choke is a screw-in insert into the big ventilated tube....all this came along BEFORE the polyethylene wads that everyone uses and buys in factory ammunition these days (and for the last 60 years or so). Back then, high speed photos taken at the muzzle showed the petals of the wads peeling back as soon as the shot column left the muzzle. With the POWER-PAC that happens inside the big tube the choke screws into. Iam told the plastic petals can sometimes rip off and stay there waiting for the next shot. Probably will not hurt the gun but will likely affect the pattern. I have one of the poly-choke type screw-ins that is on the end of the big tube and likely works better, although I have not completely tested it yet. Likely I will just remove all that and mount a genuine poly choke on the end of the actual barrel.

    I have the same one..do you know if steel shot can be used in them?

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd shy away from it. I know people do it, but it's not recommended and probably a good way to hurt yourself lol. Obviously steel doesnt deform like lead and I've heard stories of people blowing up barrels and ripping the polychokes off.

      @Northwoods Noise ya steel is hard however it may be ok with bismuth hhhm

    I HAVE A SHOTGUN WITH A FULL FIXED CHOKE. I CAN INSTALL A POLY-CHOKE.? THE SHOTGUN IS NEW ENGLAND SINGLE SHOT 12ga

      That work at a qualified gunsmith would cost more than the shotgun is worth. But it's possible to be done.

    That poly choke looks jammed, it looks as if it is unscrewing from the compensator, instead of adjusting.

      I originally thought the same thing, but I think that's just how this one works. It's a collet style adjustment that tightens the pattern as you screw it in and loosens as you unscrew it. I originally thought this was incorrect, but it engages at every detent for the different selections and seems to be designed to work that way.
