Shearer played in an era with Jaap Stam, Ferdinand, Terry, Vidic, Adams, Sol Campbell etc., at a time when defenders could kick seven shades of green into you.
I think he'd happily take on the likes of Stones, Maguire, Holding etc. in an era where defenders can barely touch you.

He was the first choice right back for England for a time, unlike Sherwood and Lee, who were nowhere near being in the England team at any point.

Had many seasons where Newcastle were doing mid and Blackburn would have been the same If it wasn't for his goals. Put berkamp rvp behind him and hes easily in the 300+ prem goal record. Put a 20 year old shearer in the Man city squad and he's chalking goal after goal. People forget, Alan usually would get 1 or 2 chances at max to score a goal and he would Normally take it. Not like today.
This is the best thing ever, Rob Lee and Tim were quality but love the genuineness from Micah.
These are genuine a match made in heaven. Top tier entertainment

Yeah that's one of the worst decisions in the history of Football if that quote is true but at the time, signing overseas players was seen as a risk and was easier to play it safe with the British players, this was before Arsenal and specifically Wenger changed the narrative when they won the Double in '98

Although Chelsea between 97-03 is underrated, Arsenal got to the League with this which is more impactful. It's like when Mourinho played 1 up front with a attacking midfielder behind, yes there were other teams doing it but it was the success of Chelsea why all the top teams followed in the mid 00s
Alan Shearer was the best player in most of his teams and by some distance. Micah had played with much better players being at Man City just after the takeover.

This is actually a decent comparison, you have Micah Richards who was a decent player with superstars, and you have Alan Shearer, who let’s be honest was usually head and shoulders above his team mates.
Makes he's goal scoring record so much more impressive especially with Blackburn who he literally steered to the title only world class player they had was astounding around average teammates.... really was so good at Ewood Park
@@colmfolan9397 Tim Sherwood was some player back in the day. David Batty was decent as well, they would supply Shearer. Colin Hendry at the back, and Flowers in goal, you can’t really call that Blackburn side a one man team but he did out-perform them most of the time.

I’m a man united fan since the 90’s but rob lee was an absolutely brilliant player. He used to give united so much trouble in the 90’s. Not so sure about sherwood, I would have picked lee and speed.
Pretty sure Roy Keane picked out Rob Lee as one of his toughest opponents, so that really is saying something. I'm a Newcastle fan and I loved Rob Lee, one of my all time favourite players.

He had some great seasons with City, even before the team as a whole was doing well.
@@WanderingWriter91and people are forgetting before alan got his injury at 26 and one later on that could of ended his career, he was a goal scoring machine, good pace, cross a ball, header a ball, take the ball into the box and shoot, just everything you want from a proper CF. Prime shearer playing in united or arsenal would be scary. If it wasn't for those injuries he would have had 300+ prem goals playing for Blackburn and Newcastle 😂
