We used Chinooks in the Falklands in 1982 to deploy our Radio Relay Detachments, they were affectionately know to us as Whoka Whoka’s due to the distinct sound they made. The Army’s scout helicopters were known as Tinny Winny Airlines, happy days as a young 18 year old soldier
Like watching these mission videos. Really shows off the world engine in a good light for the sim in ways we often miss and forget at high altitudes. Also I think it's a good taste of what we might see to come with the expanded missions and activities that's coming with MSFS2024. Accurate rescue missions etc
It certainly wets the appetite for MSFS 2024 with the missions like you say! I'd like to see more interaction during the mission though like patients being moved to the chopper etc
That "airshow" display - bet the accident victim was thinking "nope, I'll just die here, thanks". 🤣
😂😂 if it was me, I'd have rolled the dice and thought "yeah send me off in that anyway one way or another" 😂
You should be able to slowly raise the collective once the RPMs get down into flight idle to help slow down the rotors. And obviously, if there's a rotor brake, engage that. But by gradually pulling in full collective, you'll see a noticable difference in how fast your rotors stop spinning.
4:40 Just a minor point - you'd normally fly around with the EAPS 'ON' but the doors 'CLOSED'. The doors are bypass doors designed to be opened when the filters are blocked so the engine can keep getting air to run on. However, given the model doesn't even HAVE the EAPS modules fitted, it's all a bit of a moot point anyway...
it's nice, isn't it? I live close to a mil base and see a formation of them flying past from time to time. they make some right noise.
yeah - we get them fly past regularly too and they're awesome.
Great video. I'm going to pick this up and do some flying. Thanks
enjoy! let us know how you find it :) definitely want to check their wiki and set up a custom control profile with your hardware in the sim for it (collective axis etc)
Thanks
Has msfs implemented the tandem rotor physics yet? That update SU25.
Never mind.. just got to the part where you mention it.. when is it due to be released?
Nice one lad
been having a ton of fun in this... knocking off one mission every week or so where I can I think!
Any ideas please on how to update to the latest Chinock release?
I purchase downloaded mine direct from Miltech, but does the latest version does not appear on their website?
Could also really do with a manual but don’t think it’s been released yet?
Thanks in advance… love the missions videos your doing!
It'll be via Contrail.shop and their installer
Hi how do you set the nav to track up my nav shows the aircraft facing down
How do you get flyby shots in msfs2020?
The total lack of interaction with personnel on the ground is disappointing. Not sure if this is a limitation imposed by Asobo or not. The missions are fun but the lack of interactivity does kill off the immersion somewhat.
Yeah I know what you mean - I'd have thought it is a wider issue with MSFS generally but then GSX has people load cargo onto aircraft so in theory I'd imagine you could also load things related to the mission onto the heli perhaps?
So this is Miltech deciding it was not worth the effort to add the required ground actions. That's a shame. Microsoft are complicit in not allowing anything resembling weapons/military action in the sim. Makes missions like the Embassy extraction on pointless. The real world is just that and its not always a nice place but not allowing that kind of content doesn't make reality go away!@@BritishAvgeek
