There's a few thoughts on what causes varnish to frost, but I favour the "moisture" line of reasoning. Might have been an issue with the oil not having fully dried, but it's been especially cold and damp in the UK of late so might just have been an atmospheric issue that you can't do much about. All that said, we're always our own worst critic and I could barely see any issue with the finished model. My only thought is it could have been pinker! When you have the opportunity to do an audacious pink terminator I think you should really go for it.
Extremely high humidity will cause aerosol varnishes to frost. If humidity is high spray varnish onto any dark colored object. If the clear coat frosts then don't varnish your models. I've never had issues with brush on/airbrush clears. I live in an area where most summer days are 70%+ humidity
The speckling on the shoulder pad give it an almost nebular look to the paint job, have you ever considered pushing that effect further in your paint schemas well staying within a look of a standard faction?

Elven gold is perfect for emperor's children in the 41st millennium but for the 31st millenium I feel like decayed gold is perfect for Fulgrim's kids
