I watched this movie on a class trip in theaters when it came out. During the fight scene all I remember hearing is "F**K HER UP BEY!!" I gave Beyonce the benefit of the doubt cuz it seems like no matter what role she's in people will only see her as Beyonce. I gotta watch it again with 2022 eyes.
imo it was too light for the f*cking up to be as big of a deal as it was. She didn't even hurt the baby. The husband didn't even lose his job. Beyonce didn't suffer any damage from it other than being suspicious for a little bit and then scared for her baby for a few minutes. There was no tension. There were no stakes. Girl literally tried to kill HERSELF, which was the most dramatic thing that happened. I wish something more had occurred when he got roofied but nope. There wasn't even a message of "don't think being carelessly flirty is okay", nothing. Where's the ONE movie where the baby actually dies and there's real drama?
This movie made me realize how terrifying & undermining it is that people just automatically believe a man cheated/slept with a woman because she's pretty and said so and if he said it didn't happen he /must/ be lying. Like you telling someone the truth but everyone's just like, "She's a beautiful woman I don't believe you said no, why would you say no??" 🙄
Exactly. It also make you question the whole 'beauty' thing. Just because someone thinks a woman is beautiful, doesn't mean the guy thinks shes beautiful or vice versa. I've seen plenty of dudes that girls think are attractive and I'm like, nah I'll pass!
Exactly i once had a conversation with a man that said to me i would never get r word because i alway want free sex and so do a lot of men, i think he is sexist af and cant understands the world isn't like he is and so do all the sexist men, they are the center of their own universe and everything outside their experience or opinions is not valid or do not exist
I think it's the toxic male mentality which things that men will sleep with any woman who is willing and that men don't say 'no'. I've known guys who will have sex with girls who they have no respect nor liking for because the opportunity to have sex was there. I view both parties to have some degree of trauma issues when it comes to sex and need therapy...serious therapy. But that frat boy mentality is out there 'she's hot, you can't be serious you don't want to tap that'. I'm glad to see that SH and SA of men is starting to be taken seriously in society or at least social media. However, if schools taught comprehensive sex education, including consent, SA and rape would go down exponentially.

She is not meant for to be actress, tbh. Beyonce is a terrible actress but a phenomenal singer she was bad at voice acting in the lion king as well. I still love the soundtrack and of course brown skin girl is my favorite but doesn't change that she cannot even simply voice act as well.

I've known too many men who were turned away and laughed at by the police when they tried to make a report about being abused by their wife or girlfriend. Rough times
Ali Larter made this movie interesting in my opinion. I have always loved her acting. For some reason she plays mentally unstable and distraught very well 🤔 Final Destination 1 and 2… Heroes…
I love that this is one of the very few movies where they don’t pretend men are completely incapable of turning down the sexual advances of an attractive woman.
I actually thought the same as every one about the whole "Beyonce is just beyonce when she's acting" but then i thought "Its it that she can't get into character? Or is it that the idea, image, and persona of Beyonce is so ingrained in what we know of her that when she tries to break away we can't get that image out of our head. Bc tbh Beyonce character wasn't really all that compelling or interesting. She seemed like a regular degular wife and mother. Thats all we knew of the character, wasn't much personality. So really Beyonce didn't have much to work with to begin with. So thought "Maybe is not that her acting in the movie is bad, perhaps the character is just boring enough where all we see is the persona of Beyonce attached to an already pretty bland character."
I remember watching the Lemomade film and chuckling occasionally because in between the singing, poetry and posing, there’s moments where Beyoncé has to act again and you get a little glimpse of this 2000s goodness.

Which Birdcage: the French original, La Cage aux Folles, or the American remake? No one talks about the original and both are worth it. And then there is the musical. This would make for a great More Butter production episode.
If you love a thriller that has lost it's mind then Hand that Rocks' the Cradle is amazing. It's from the nineties so there are some problematic elements. But it wears it's crazy on it's sleeve and I can't help but love it.

I gave Beyonce the benefit of the doubt cuz it seems like no matter what role she's in people will only see her as Beyonce.
Y’all watched this on a school trip??? Lol that’s a progressive school!
"Patriarchy doesn't help nobody"
This is the kind of commentary that makes me come back to you over and over again
Agreed I think people are attractive, but i would never do anything if I had the chance. Like that’s freaking weird.
@@cheriremily9360 or if people stop with the gender rolls since it’s dumb, and stupid. Just let there be straight femboys and straight tomboys as well as gay muscular men and lesbians girly girls. No stereotypes of males and females or sexuality. Like that would be nice for once. Although a lot of judgmental people assuming people are a certain way because they act like the stereotype.
She didn't get away with Obsessed. She gotta way with Cadillac Records. obsessed is ICONIC.
We got
"YOU TOUCHED MY CHILD"
''She does a great, Beyonce job'' I am losing it. Kennie is my favorite comedian.
Cadillac records and dreamgirls we're Beyonce's best movie roles and I believe that has something to do with the fact that she was singing in those films I wouldn't mind seeing Beyonce in another musical
Have you seen The Fighting Temptations with her a Cuba Gooding Jr? That soundtrack was amazing.
Those movies were also garbage
@@kaylao.3326 I like them especially Beyonce's performance in them but I respect that opinion
You should watch Dismissed, with Dylan Sprouse. He's like a crazy teen that gets an A in every class by any means necessary lol
Lolz that's a great choice for this series! 😄 😂
Lmao that sounds great!
Yes! I would love to hear her take on it.
Oh, I remember that movie!
It was . . . very anticlimactic.
I definitely like the stalker movies where the people involved are faithful, they're just being harassed by an insane person. I know that seems weird because they deserve it less but I can never really sympathize with the characters that cheat then they're all "No, leave me alone, crazy"
as a Beyoncé fan I will defend this movie with my life
however….
I agree
Why not just let this trash go?
Lol i agree 😆
lol
Whenever Beyonce is in ANY movie, I already know what its hittin for since Carmen: A Hip Hopera. Thank you 2001 MTV 😂😂😂
That was a good movie lol 🤣 don't debate me
I loved that movie as a kid!! I randomly look up the music every purple moon
Ooh, that's a throwback. The scene where she gets the tarot card reading by Wyclef Jean is one of my highlights from that movie.
@@LisaFrank39 Never spoke on the movie only on Beyonce 😂
yesss exactly what i thought of 😂😂 i feel like she acts better when she singing 😩😩
I remember this movie. It was a hot mess and I loved it. It was just really fun. I like that Idris Elba's character didn't cheat.
Imagine if this movie choose to not let him be at the Christmas Party. Like maybe he's all like, "Nah, I don't really feel like it.", calls in sick just to spend time with his wife...
@@osmanyousif7849 The movie would've been a lot shorter, tbh. And we wouldn't have had to deal with that woman being such a creep with him.
@@heatherduke5410 , Honestly, the day someone makes a thriller like that, but somehow manage to make trouble arrive for a protagonist in different ways, would be hands down the greatest movie of the year.
@@osmanyousif7849 That’d actually be a really interesting premise! I’d totally watch it.
When Beyoncé was screaming and Kennie started playing backing vocals I was dying laughing. I bet I sounded like a damn hyena😂
Edit: I’m rewatching this video and thought I’d add a time stamp. 23:00
I just got to that part! 🤣 Kennie, MY LUNGS! 🤣💀🤣
Thank you for the time stamp ❤
Like I've seen other people mention, this just wasnt Beyonce's best acting. However, I still liked this movie because drama is fun and they amped it up, especially the fight scene.
Some good points are made...she does act like she's about to sing! Other movies she did she actually does end up singing!
Yeah same like she acts good enough to blend in and not notice
She is not meant for to be actress, tbh. Beyonce is a terrible actress but a phenomenal singer she was bad at voice acting in the lion king as well. I still love the soundtrack and of course brown skin girl is my favorite but doesn't change that she cannot even simply voice act as well.
@@ShanyShannon I thought I was the only one who said “she’s even bad at voice acting…..how?!” lol
@@simoneturner88 What do you mean 'how'? Like that's an easy skill. If it was, they would just get any for their films. Would looove to hear YOU voice act. Since you got so much to say.
@@spongebob8157 considering I’m a theater kid with voice acting credits you can easily look up my credentials so 🤷🏽♀️. But I’m sure she appreciates you defending her honor 👍🏽

Clean shaven Idris is a depowered Idris. Shaving is like punching someone out of super saiyan
I would say that Beyonce does a lot better when she just voices a character. I actually liked the way that she portrayed the Queen in Epic.
Dude I forgot that was Beyoncé
I love that movie, half of the reason is because she was in it. Otherwise it's a great movie, I also love the song she sang in the credits. I think it's called rise up.
@@kimberleywilliams7802 Yessss!! That song is amazing!
Got that movie for my birthday,it was pretty great ^^
i lovee when she voices characters. i remember she did a wow wow wubbzy character and that just brings back so many memories 😭
I think other similar movies that star Black actors will make a great series: The Perfect Guy, When the Bough Breaks, The Intruder, No Good Deed, etc.
All of these
omg I need No Good Deed on her radar immediately!!
Yes! I recommended something similar as an idea for BHM, but this is even better. Basically a Screen Gems series b/c they love putting out entertaining garbage.
I feel so seen. I remember ALL those films.
When the Bough Breaks is the worst of all of these 🤣 like, bad, but not in a fun way, just BAD. No matter that the lead is utterly gorgeous(the one sent racist comments for dating Riker lynch's brother?) she still couldn't save it.
This movie was iconic for the beat down she gave that white girl. The only thing we all remember vividly from this movie. Don’t lie. You know you did.
I love how the hive just collectively gave this movie a pass😂 that scene where she drags the mistress will forever be legendary lol
That scene with Bey bopping tf out of that chick with the wooden beam has lived rent free in my head for over a decade 😂
“The Bey Hive always wants to come for somebody. But Obsessed was garbage and if you care for Beyoncé so much, what happened to dereon?……..Exactly.” -Kennie 2019 or 2020. I’m not sure of the date but I love this quote.
Omg as soon as I saw the thumbnail yesterday, I had that quote in my head😂😂😂
First quote that popped in my head.
I swear I hear someone say something along the lines of this
It’s 2022
Girl we’re in 2022
Honestly, I loved Beyonce in Austin Powers' Goldmember, but I've never seen anything else she's acted in, so I didn't really have anything else to compare her performance in it to.
She's done dream girls, fighting temptations and a few more after that.
I think dream girls and cadillac records was her best work, maybe because those were music based movies. In pink panther as well, she played a pop star.
@@ayannabranchcomb7535 right. She does amazing in movies where……she is playing a singer lol. Because the majority of her scenes are singing 😂 I liked her in goldmember but Austin powers in itself is satirical and not to be taken seriously.
@@simoneturner88 yeah. Comedies and musicals I think are her best bet. This wasn’t offensively bad to me because as a kid I aint know good or bad acting 😂 and now I’m more invested in Idris story, she’s a side character to me. Also all of her acting sins can be forgiven for the absolute gold she gave us beating that woman’s ass from the back of the house to the front okay?????
Dreamgirls and Cadillac records was good honestly anything that shes singing in is good but her acting isn't good
That movie kind of scared me when I was younger but rewatching it again... I can tell why I was scared 😭
I remember my sister and I rented this from the library and kept watching the fight scene at the end, in different languages with English subtitles, so we could learn international fighting words🤣😹
This is hilarious 🤣
Big brain moment, lmao! 😂
I love this, lol!😂
Oh my gawd, ya'll are wild. 🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
I used to watch this movie on repeat as a kid, I was so scared of it but we had it on dvd and we ain’t have no cable 😓
I felt that
"the patriarchy benefits no one" 😂 thank you for explaining that to me. I was also very confused by that
It's the *2009* trigger warning for me 😭😂🤦🏾♀️
I stand by my opinion that she BODIED Dreamgirls! Deena Jones was everything.
@Day PERIOD! she was excellent
She was excellent in dreamgirls and Cadillac records but if it's not a music biography movie she's not a good actress
You want another bad Beyoncé movie? Try “Carmen: A Hip Hopera.” It’s a hip hop musical based on the opera, Carmen, obviously. I think Mekhi Phifer is also in it. I haven’t seen it since 2008, but I’d be willing to revisit it if Kennie will walk me through it!
The tarot card scene was pretty brilliant. Everything else felt like it was part of a different movie or even a sitcom until a scene/song pops up to make it obvious it’s a Carmen adaptation XD
All I remember is Beyoncé getting shot in the end.
She was great in Heroes!
Omg, I knew she looked familiar! I never realized she was in the first two Final Destinations 🤦🏽♀️😂
AGREED! She did well. I loved her as the stepmom in Legally Blonde too!
too bad she racist. I liked her until I heard about how nasty she was to her costar husband in heroes, she even tried to get him fired.
@@kimberleywilliams7802 same!
I love that this is one of the very few movies where they don’t pretend men are completely incapable of turning down the sexual advances of an attractive woman.
If Beyoncé was a good actress that would just be unfair 🤣
You right 🤷🏾♀️
…and God knew that and acted accordingly.
Valid points!
I rewatched this movie recently on HBO. It reads like Lifetime movie. I also I did see this movie when it came in theaters when I was 8.
I remember watching the Lemomade film and chuckling occasionally because in between the singing, poetry and posing, there’s moments where Beyoncé has to act again and you get a little glimpse of this 2000s goodness.
Ooooh this upload is right on time Kennie. Okay, the fight scene at the end PURE COMEDY because Beyonce acting is so bad that it's good😂 oooh good movies and a glam suggestion THE BIRDCAGE, you'll love it. It's everything🥰🙌🏿
Yes that fight scene was hilarious!!!
@@packnetadaija She was making me mad too like girl don't let Ali get the best of you😂
Which Birdcage: the French original, La Cage aux Folles, or the American remake? No one talks about the original and both are worth it. And then there is the musical. This would make for a great More Butter production episode.
Was so close to finishing the ultimatum vid 😭😭
There's so many good points about the social concepts this would bring up! We need to bring this movie back into the mainstream to talk!!!
Okay, movie review aside, this eye look on Kennie is STUNNING!!!😍So ethereal and floral, it’s giving me spring goddess and I’m here for it 💅🏽
If you love a thriller that has lost it's mind then Hand that Rocks' the Cradle is amazing. It's from the nineties so there are some problematic elements. But it wears it's crazy on it's sleeve and I can't help but love it.
23:00 the building music and whispered words were incredible tysm
“You touched my child??” made me laugh so hard lol
Beyoncé’s acting aside, I used to LOVE this movie as a kid. It was the one “adult” movie that my mom let me watch and I used to watch it over and over. Plus the plot and story was great
It's a good thing Beyonce is a talented performer and singer because her acting skills.......not everyone needs to be an actor.
Tbf she was much better in Dreamgirls
@@ross8093 I feel like musicals are her thing because she sings and because in musicals you can be over the top and campy , so she fits right in. She definitely should do more musicals if she decides to act some more.
@@yugen8195 I was also thinking that the character centred around being kinda more reserved and then being emotional in songs even more than other characters in the movie so it relaly suits her but tbh not the worst actress around I think shes just one who needs to be written for not placed in a role
"I've never seen a man who looked better after shaving" KENNIE have you never seen someone with a neckbeard? Have you never seen someone who grows facial hair in patches? What about people who can grow a beard but no moustache? I would say these are examples of ppl who look better shaven.
The only exceptions
Nah, even neckbeards look better with tailored facial hair. Just shave the neck and you're good.

I can't help but have so much nostalgia attached to this movie! I believe I was a freshman & went with a group of friends to see it at the mall. The audience had a lot to say to Ali Larter's character throughout, but that final fight had everyone yelling & cheering on Beyoncé 😂 It was the best!
I feel like thats why we like a lot of bad movies and don't realize their bad b/c of the nostalgia

I'm hoping Kennie will do a video or an episode of In Defense Of for Glitter because nobody can tell me it's a bad movie 👀 purely for nostalgia 😆 & Valarie Pettiford singing 🤩
To be fair, she did okay as Foxxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers Gold Member.
I *loved* her as Foxy Cleopatra. She really fit the character's energy.
That’s a campy movie and she was great
This was just a bad movie for Beyonce. She does good in the movies where she sings. Oh pink panther and gold member were cute too.
Sidenote: I feel you on the facial hair thing. Keep the facial hair 😂

the face kennie makes when she smacks the gavel and screams 'objection' had me rolling @14:57
I remember watching this movie in the discount theatre, and the intro where they set up Idris Elba and Beyonce's life I was like, "ooh something is going to happen with that table". And I was right. And that is ALL I remember about that movie
@5:03 Yea I watched the animated movie Epic and people forget she was in that movie for a smooth 5 minutes.
I almost SCREAMED 😭😭😭 when Kennie said “I’m not entitled to bbc”? Girl be a comedian 🥺 I need new specials to watch besides Fluffly & Dave Chapelle
Dave Chapelle is homophobic
beyonce is one of those celebrities that have such a powerful image and persona that it's super hard for them to shake it off and immerse in a role. i mean greatness is hard to be concealed lol
It's the ominous smiley face for me. 🙂 It just screams crazy when you really think about it. 'I'm fine' energy when we all know you ain't!
I'm wrecked that her latest video was taken down before I could watch it 😭
A bad movie that I unironically love is that one Beautiful Creatures movie that they made in 2013. It's based off the equally as bad books and I wasted an entire evening on it so why not love it, yk? It would be cool if you could do that one sometime

I love how after Beyonce says the "You think you crazy? Try me bitch!" line and hangs up the phone, she has that look of "Yea! I said my line! I GOT that shxt!!" Lmao. 😅😅😅 Beyonce can't act to save her LIFE and I love it!
omg I saw this in theaters, and EVERYONE in the audience was yelling at the screen by the end. so good. i love this movie. eta: you brought up a good point about her acting and how its methodical. you're right, she's used to STAGE acting. she's "bad on film" maybe, but that's because her mindset is about stage movements where you have to be over the top so folks in the cheap seats can see you. that's why musical theater acting is so weird compared to film. i see now what her whole problem is lol
I remember exactly the first time I saw this movie (or the end of it, rather). I was home alone and I was mindlessly changing channels looking for something to watch, and all of a sudden I see Beyoncé beating the fuck out of the woman from Heroes and dragging her all over her house by her hair. I was flabbergasted.
26:04 why was that so good I thought that was really her for a second
re-enacting her getting out the car was literally fucking hilarious
Now Kennie you know it would’ve been a different type of hell for a white woman to be found dead in his bed. At least if she’s alive they can SEE how delusional she was as opposed to blaming her death completely on him
Exactly! Obviously she had plot armor, but, if this was real life, she would have NEEDED to stay alive and make a complete recovery for his sake.
