She's so methodical and slow with her rolls and transitions like a female version of Gordon Ryan. That closed guard sweep to mount to arm triangle at 5:30 was so clean

Her parents have to be the most supportive parents I've seen in a long time. Definitely a huge reason for her success at such a young age!
She just came to our city and did a seminar, and then looks like she went to Denver and gave that same seminar. She carries herself beyond her years in poise, calmness, presence, knowledge, athleticism. She is the most ready to influence a game since Tiger Woods IMO...She is that good...

She is a household name at my place. My girls love her and my son respects her talent. I as an adult respect her modesty in what she wears even in a professional weigh-in. It's nice to have someone my girls can look up to for skill and character that as a parent you can trust her content.

That arm triangle finish was very clean, never let up the pressure and just smooth adjustments. I always lose those as they turn away.
The Key for me for the Finish, and Helena does it the Same way is plaicing Ur knee on their hipbone and pressure in while chocking and Pulling the head into the opposite direction. Massively increases the strain in the neck

no way she's a blue belt IRL- shes probably a brown belt and they are sandbagging the comp to hype her up
Blue belt is a 16 year old's belt by IBJJF standards if competing in juvenile divisions. If her coaches are following that standard, she'll be purple by the time she turns 17 if she goes to adult divisions. There is a progression of belts, minimum ages, and time in grade standard. Phenoms like Helena are going to go up in belt color very quickly.
@@documentthedrama8279 See previous statement. It's because she is in juvenile divisions. A competitor cannot have a brown or black belt at that age. There won't be any proud parents of an 11 year old black belt in BJJ like some martial arts.
Give it twenty years and there will be more mcdojos. There are already ones that give adults promos they don't deserve. Lots of belts are given up at the gyms I went to.

Since her coaches are very skilled takedown artsists, I'd assume so. But since you don't win with a takedown, it's more energy efficient to pull guard and work from there, often from an advantage, without spending the energy on wrestling/throwing someone who may also be good at takedown defense, and then just put their guard up when they're on the ground. This isn't Judo where you only have to worry about 30 seconds of ground work, or get instant wins from a throw.

It's not sandbagging, there are age and time in rank standards in bjj. She competes in juvenile, where there are no brown or black belts.

@@hashslingingslasher9232 Can you not read what I wrote or look up the rules on your own? It's about age levels. Some people are phenoms in a sport, like high school kids going straight to NBA. Helena will get her belts quickly, with a minimum amount of time at each color. Padded record? She beats juveniles at the highest belt a juvenile can hold, and happens to be better than most adult females.

It’s great BJJ is getting more mainstream. It also kinda sucks because your starting to get these big sport gyms that are just gonna dominate every competition. If you aren’t from a new wave, or ATOS type gym. You most likely aren’t winning against them.
No still all on the athletes, yes there are top teams but still such a wide range of talent.

And with that comes a select few very high level gyms that will churn out champions

It is an ADCC Open, on the same level as like a local Naga or a Grappling Industries. Not taking anything away from her, she is quite good. Just that the talent pool is not going to be super high level at these, when she is training with literally the best in the world.
