That was a terrific interview. Sir Peter Jackson is a very genuine person, the antithesis of Hollywood slugs. My thanks to the interviewer and the poster.
I love true stories about people's lives. In this case it's someone whose done some incredible things. Makes it all the more interesting. Peter's persistance in pursuing his dream is the secret to his eventual success.
I used to work with him at Wellington Newspapers along with Terry Potter.....We would be playing cards on our break and Pete would be in my darkroom listening to Beatle songs on my 4 track with head phones on. All we could hear was him yelling......."Its been a hard days night" Ha ha. He couldnt sing for shit but he loved the Beatles. Then he would come and join our "penny" card games at smoko........and take all our money off us.......bastard ;-) Then he said "you wanna be in my movie"..........There was born Frank and Ozzie.
Very interesting interview, he is really living the dream. Braindead is the movie I have seen the most times of any movie, there was a time when me and a friend saw it every day after school, a memories :-)
I love Peter Jackson, he is Santa Claus to me! Every movie is a gift😄 I want to work in the creative industry, but I didn't go to filmschool, I studied Economics because it seemed the rught thing to do at the time. I can't pay for film school so I am going to try and get an internship in my country. Unfortunately our creative industry is really small and not many films are being released on a yearly basis compared to other European countries let alone compared to New Zealand or the US. But I just need to start somewhere and I hope that one day I'll be able to work for one of Peter Jacksons fiction/fantasy movies. That is like my dream!
They reference district 9 so this was recorded in 2009. I've never seen Jackson not fat before, but I see now. He gets fat every time he makes Tolkien films. Because he got the weight back in the 2010s haha!
Lovely Bones was a really touching and well made movie. It was a pretty bold choice to move in that direction after the series of blockbuster films he made and he caught a lot of undeserved shit for it. Shame that he fled back to Hobbit after that which was a major step backwards
2 months ago i was walking in my city and all of a sudden,...boem, Peter Jackson, standing there, right next to me....i was like w t f...should I buy this man a drink???
Rule number one of interviewing: Never ever cut the subject off when they're speaking. This is something this guy does a few too many times: Peter is speaking when he juts in for a comment, Peter is forced to answer the comment, neglecting what he was about to say. It gets annoying.
Since he's just about finished with the Hobbit trilogy and Middle Earth all together, I would love to see him work on a Dragonlance movie/trilogy! If not that, I had a movie idea in mind that was like Peter Pan/Hook, a live-action version of Aladdin, The Thief Lord, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Wizard of Oz, Avatar, and to a certain extent Lord of the Rings rolled into one that I could see him being the director of and James Horner, Danny Elfman, John Williams, or Alan Menken being the composer of!
Its kind of ironic Peter started out as a Shockfilmmaker with blood & guts (Splattermovie) On a low budget, and as the budget gets bigger he has to Pg it down, as the movies gets bigger. I think his ulimate project would be like a NC-17 Splatter Tvseries with zombies/beasts or something. With a lots of practical effects of course. The Remnants (Bad Taste) for music that sounds like an Mad Max postapocalypt sleaze with a heroic touch! or Songs like Power Station - "We Fight For Love" (also known as "Someday, Somehow, Someone's Gotta Pay") Lots of Bladd!, heavy music and an New Zeland humour stuck in there. A lot of wacky characters, Think the paperguy in Waterworld...
This Peter Jackson documentary from the BBC many years ago shows his early film making when he was a kid. Enjoy folks. th-cam.com/video/POXwP4ucPe4/w-d-xo.html
@@niksarass And RonJammin will still receive the reply... What are you trying to say? I have seen original posters responding to comments they posted 10 years after the original comment was posted...
@@niksarass Erm what? He replied to a comment 7 years old, stating "1 year ago" in relation to the 7 year old comment. So........7 years ago+ 1 year=8 years. 8 years ago this video was uploaded. He was not saying it was made in 2019, he was saying 1 year before the 7 year old comment was posted. Really dude, really? Your simple brain couldn't work that out? And that 1 like for the "1 year ago"comment was probably from the same guy that asked 7 years ago. Learn to think, it's not difficult.
everything is fine, it's just the greed of Holywood exec's that don't make 200mil profit, but make let's say 150, and that is a failure in their mind. Cause it's always about more. IMO they should be happy they wake way more than they should anyway. Me for example, i don't go to movies anymore, cause today it's all political or inclusional or diverse, nothing is genuine, or creative, every trailer is the same, it's shot in way to high FPS, a film should be in anamorphic lens and lower fps, to have that movie look.
Peter Jackson never ceases to amaze me... brilliant director and producer, and also a decent guy concerned with other peoples' children.
These interviews are priceless for aspiring filmmakers. Thank you.
His films are revolutionary and his legacy is so professional.

I agree, 8 years later
"The place that turned me down for my first job application, i ended up owning the company" haha great :)
Great work, PJ is just a sweet humble man with PASSION and drive and doesn't give up! Inspiring and THE BEST DIRECTOR in the last 15 yrs PERIOD!

Loved it! He did so much for my imagination and childhood with the Lord of The Rings films.
The guy is so friendly and warm
this man made return of the king....... the greatest film ever made as far as i’m concerned.
what a inspiration, humble and down to earth.
This interview is pure gold.
I think he looks just fine now. Not exhausted or less happy...he looks healthy, about 10 years younger and freaking AWESOM!
I LOVE PETER JACKSON !!!!!!!
This guy is revolutionary . The extent he went to make films.. put their homes in danger for a warehouse
This was very interesting, thanks for posting it
13:36 I think this may be part of why Peter is so good at choosing fantastic scenic locations for his movies, particularly LOTR
He looks so healthy and full of life in here!
Haha! Did not expect to see a Bad Taste reference on this vid.
he looks knackered.

He’s brilliant. Here in this interview he seems so skinny and young 😘

This man makes me wish I was a New Zealander.
Despite being a fantastic director I always thought it was crazy how he went to looking like a new person
hippiecheezburger and then back again.
The man always has a mug to sip.
Welcomed by Our House And family
Peter gets growing better.
Welcome
he seems really exhausted
I believe that was half way through the shooting of The Hobbit, when he got quite ill and had to take a 6 week break.
This is awesome too bad it has so little views :(

locky75 I am everywhere and nowhere. I've walked across the surface of the sun but you... You are just a man.
damn
I didn't, but we shaked hands and i gave him advice on what to visit :)
Some of it's come back, but like a quarter. He's 3/4 Peter right now.
THUMP THUMP at 39:47, freaked me out :^D
If I was Peter Jackson (which im not) I would've retired from film making after LOTR and made an amusement park in Hobbiton .
interesting man
@jcarrig or it's just getting brighter inside!!
Just watched the 2004 Oscar gala, and I wonder where the other half of Peter went!?

No, he should work on ultimate lord of the rings and the hobbit director's cut edition first.
Cant u guys let him have breather!?

Well he aged a bit in 9 years
It's like he makes it a POINT to not discuss Braindead...ever. lol. Except this one book I read once!
When Peter was fat he looked more happier?? Maybe i'm wrong :)
Who conducts these interviews? He's good
he's been filming 3 movies at once
Interviewer talks way too much
Besides the interviewer being horrible, this was great!
So glad Pete was able to overcome the interview.
