Ok, before I go to my top 5 need to say that back in the day I couldn't afford the nikes from 2 to 5, so I didn't play in those. Now my top 5: 5. Adidas KB8. Yes, the OG's in black suede with the white stripes. Cushion was awesome, fit too and when I played in those I really was so comfortable. Outsole didn't last too long like the KB8 3. 4. Nike Kobe VIII. Freaking dope shoe, so lightweight and comfortable and the colorway I own also dope, grey and volt. Cushion, fit, and materials are sick, but the outsole is soft (couldn't get the XDR version). The second best lowtops I've played in. 3. Adidas The Kobe. This was a special one, Cushion and Fit was awesome, traction was incredible and the materials dope but the best out of these was that lasted about a year and a half of playing outdoor almost everyday! Got them in the first OG colorway and materials, the whites and the blacks. The Crazy one didn't make justice to them. 2. Nike Zoom Kobe I. The first of the line was an awesome shoe. Zoom and Uptempo Cushiom made them very comfortable, traction was so great back then and the leather was freaking amazing! I love them! Got them in the white, grey and yellow colorway. 1. Nike Zoom Kobe VI. Best lowtop ever! The scales are insane, the fit just perfect and the cushion too! Still got them in the white, black and yellow colorway.
Kobe line changed the game with great performing low tops. 👌🏽 I only played in 4, and if I would rank them V, VI, XI, and X. Wasn't able to play in the VIII and IX, since I was enjoying the Evolution '85 from Jordan those years, and the VII didn't fit and feel right when I tried them at the store.
Personally, the Kobe 9 was the best model for me. To me it signified like a return/comeback and it was a sick ass shoe because of all the different variations from high to low/em. Plus the performance was fucking unbelievable. The HTM Volt colorway was insane !

Kobe 8 is my favorite for sure. I'm kind of at a disadvantage having only owned the 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8, but like you, there's a sentimental value to them. Now I pretty much got the first released colorways of the 1, 6, and 7 because I couldn't wait and it was for the sake of getting a Kobe shoe that year already, and the 5 I got slightly used just for the colorway (Chaos) (They performed alright). The 8 is that one Kobe shoe, that one basketball shoe for that matter, that I diligently waited for this one colorway that Kobe teased at the start of the season, which ended up releasing in May, those Purple Gradients. It's the first Kobe with a soft upper and it worked.
For me the number 1. is the KB 8 man!, dope shoe!, great performer, great traction, and the way that the shoes look, damn!, for me nike has something that another brands do not have and it is the fact that they can convine elite performance shoes with excelent looking shoes, maybe not all of them but most of them

Kobe 10 The Kobe 9's traction is so superb that I would easily rate that as my favorite performance shoe. I recently ID'd a pair of 11's so I will play in those soon. Considering putting the full-length zoom sole in my 9's seeing as how the lunerlon insert of the 9's is tarnished from playing in them so much.

My Kobe rankings personally, the 8's have a special place in my heart and the only model I have bought every single colorway. That will never happen again. The 8's with the superhero colorway insole with the zoom forefoot and heel cushioning set up thrown in any colorway of the Kobe 8 is my go-to set up to ball over anything out there. I would've had the Kobe 4 over the 5 if the 4's forefoot lunar cushion lasted longer. It just bottomed out way too fast but was absolutely amazing while it lasted. The heel zoom in the Kobe 4 is prolly the most responsive and comfortable zoom I've ever felt under my feet. And cause the 5's traction wasn't that great but on a decently clean court they worked great for me and are super comfortable all around. 1) 8 2) 9 elite low and em 3) 6 4) 5 5) 4

I'd take Nightwings list and switch the 9 and the 8 around. I think just everything that the 8 brought into the sneaker game, not to mention it was great on court, really can't be matched by just the 9's traction.
