    Nice comparison! Thanks for that!
    If I may the only measures missing is the height between the floor and the ceiling (when closed). I agree that’s quite hard to measure☺️😉but it will help me to choose if I would know which conversion has the most room to store bedding….thanks in advance

    • @troopyinafrica
      @troopyinafrica  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed the one dimension we did not take. Only thought afterwards we could have pushed a steel ruler between the two floor boards as measured total height inside .
      AI do now make deeper / higher roof for more bedding, but me personally I don’t think it looks nice.
      Also rumor has it AC are going to update the Hercules soon with more of everything I suspect and possibly bedding as well. So if you not in a rush maybe 🤔 wait 🤷🏻‍♂️🤙

    • @peterpatch7144
      @peterpatch7144 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That stays the best comparison ever!!!😊
      By the way what’s your thoughts about room for bedding (when closed), from your point of view, which is the best?

      @@peterpatch7144 Peter everyone on our @troopysinafrica whatsapp group seem to think they are both the same with looking at the standard. You can get blanket and sleeping bags inside - no pillows. Otherwise the catches will break on bad roads. But again the new AC may have more when it comes.

    I have a Kronos and the one thing I really hate is the bed frame is short , so you cannot lay in bed with hatch open…smaller hatch or a easy mod to extend the main frame would have made all the difference. I’m only 6ft so not a tall guy.
    As for both the latches are useless for here in Australia
    Brilliant video,,,if you were looking between the two this video is for you.

    More to the point… what’s the difference between the roof rails at the tapered end of the Alu innovation so I can fit a solar panel there?

    • @troopyinafrica
      @troopyinafrica  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Remember they tapper to the front. Panels are normally square. Quit a challenge.
      Ok so Back - Outside to outside is about 1220mm Center to center is about 1185mm
      Ok so Front - Outside to outside is about 1165mm Center to center is about 1125mm
      Have you checked out the new Hercules Conversion video? It also has rails to the front now.

      Can’t thank you enough for getting those measurements for me.
      I’m looking for some kind of storage case that will fit comfortably between the rails at the front of the roof.

    Thanks for this detailed review, great job! I will have passengers in the back sitting left and right along the sides of the car and wonder wether they can still sit comfortably in the Troopy after the Kronos conversion? 40mm less headspace sounds a lot comparing it to the Hercules. What is your impression about that?

    • @troopyinafrica
      @troopyinafrica  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I suspect it would depend on the seats you use. The Troopy in the video actually has a Toyota Fortuner rear seat in the back for their 17yr old son. So it does work.

    Thank you, very informative, would be interesting to know the difference in roof height(headroom) from the floor to underside of ceiling above the second row of troopy seats and maximum mattess thickness that can be fitted for comfort purposes

    • @troopyinafrica
      @troopyinafrica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The second row seats should have the same height as we measured at the back 1070mm AC vs 1030mm AI. As we showed you can see the AI sits that 40mm lower on the window head. Check the relationship of the roof to the grab handle in the shot of the gas struts. As for mattresses I do not have an answer, but a number of guys in our @troopysinafrica group have the AI and AC - I will ask on our WhatsApp group later and see what the answers are.

    Well done. An interesting comparison. Personally I'm now leaning towards the Alu Innovation should we ever decide to go roof conversion. A look at the canvas materials would be good, plus lack of light getting in on those sunny early mornings. Blackout is good for us to ensure a lie in on lazy days.
    We have noticed that Alu cab has changed the design of the sealing strip on the front hinge several times due to it being crap..has Alu Innovation solved this problem? Also the sealing strip around the sides and back appear different??
    Cheers.

    • @troopyinafrica
      @troopyinafrica  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our AC is new so wasn’t aware the hinge had been changed many times. But I guess as they where the first in Africa making a Pop Top it comes with the territory of development🤷🏽‍♂️. AI I have also heard nothing as yet, but again we do not have much rain here and loads of guys not traveling keep them under cover. Guys hear seem not to want to admit that on our group 😂. It like you drive a Landrover or you drive a Landrover debate 😂
      As for canvas I would say they are much of a muchness. Both can black out.

      @@troopyinafrica this is the biggest problem when it comes to any super expensive overland item. No one likes to admit that maybe it's not as good as the amount it costs or that it doesn't get used much. The so called "must have" items can trick most of us into spending unnecessary money. Keep the videos coming and feel free to give your opinion....your opinion is valuable 👌

      I have the AluCab and when I had it installed with both the shadow awning and the shower cube I had it weighed and it was 120kg for all three.
      I do not have states for the AI. That said it does apprear to have more aluminum. The cover plates alone down the side might add to the weight.
