    Haven't finished the video, but for the wifi, as someone who does tech support, there is a reason for that.
    External antenna has a better signal. Internal ones, especially in denser/thicker devices, like a printer, would cause a Faraday cage like effect. Essentially, it will turn your wifi into a mess of wifi issues.
    Internal antennae exist in mobile devices, but they are not idea. It's why if you have a device with internal ones, it would get worse signal than a device with external. Additionally mobile devices have minimal metal to prevent said Faraday cage. Printers tend to be metal.
    Basically, it's recommended to use external when able. On large, mostly stationery devices, the larger external ones are used.

      i liked the Mars 4 where they had this under the cover. just a tidier profile. but yeah, I do get more issues without external antennas. but in those cases, I'm not alone and it may be duye to stupid integration methods.

    With regards to the (not) included heater - I live in Australia and have recently received my Saturn 4.
    The problem is, daytime peak temperatures in my garage at the moment are around 16°, which is too cold for resin printing.
    The point is - it gets cold, no matter where in the world you live.
    Eagerly awaiting the release of the (pre-ordered) elegoo heater unit, in August (which is likely too late for winter this year)

    • @RisingApe
      @RisingApe  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think when the printer is running the heat from the components would mean it was fine, but I take your point. I use a band heater when I need a boost but will pick up a heater in due course for sure

    • @Karlosovic77
      @Karlosovic77 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RisingApe it's not. I've tried and had numerous failures that I can only attribute to the temperature

  • @thatblastedsamophlange
    @thatblastedsamophlange 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I live in Canada, we get some very cold winters, and while I understand the desire for built in heaters, I'd honestly rather see it as an optional add-on. It's just not something EVERYONE needs, depending on your setup, and where in the world you are. From a company stand point, putting in a feature that might be only used by a small percentage of the population makes it an unnecessary margin factor for the sales.

    • @RisingApe
      @RisingApe  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Seeing the price point here too, I would rather they kept the cost down and then I can spend it later as needed.

    I got an original mars many moons ago and it still works fine. Don't care for the new build plate for the same reasons you and others stated. I'll be buying one I'm sure but it'll be at least a year form now to see how reliable the tilt mechanism is.

    • @RisingApe
      @RisingApe  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that’s absolutely the right approach, you won’t need to wait a full year but certainly give it a few months

  • @Microarmor007
    @Microarmor007 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Im glad for the following 2 design choices over the current gen competition:
    1. No heater. I absolutely don't need one where I live. Temperatures have hit 50c on rare ocasion. If anything, I need a cooler.
    2. No pumps. I dont want extra crap to deal with regard to cleaning or failing on me.
    Per the potential problems you pointed out, there is still room for improvement in the keeping the thing clean area.
    Ive had a lot of failed prints on my Saturn 2 but the machinery has been solid. I'm hoping this or the S4 ultra are better with the auto zero and tilt vat. My Photon Mono 2 failed within 90 days of purchase with a failed motor / gear. It just makes noises instead of rotating the screw. Hopefully 3rd purchase is a charm.

    Do you have a video (or can you refer me to one) that takes a 3D resin print with the Mars 5 Ultra (or something similar) from the beginning (STL file, adding a base) to the end (UV, IPA washing, etc.)? Good video, btw! I have everything I need but don't want to begin without some knowledge/confidence on how to complete all the steps. Thx!

    I'm so tempted to buy one haha but I'll wait for the sales. My Saturn 3 Ultra is still going strong and that's the same resolution as the Saturn 4 Ultra. It was such a beast to get it to work in the beginning and I'm a little sad that Elegoo just abandoned it with some menu options like the live update not working. (Which then now clearly is available on the Saturn 4 Ultra).
    Feels like last generation really was just some stopgap release for these ones... but I get decent minis out of it so I guess it's not the worst.

    • @RisingApe
      @RisingApe  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeh that sucks but if the 3 isn’t broken don’t try to fix it. And you should look at the Saturn 4 rather than the Mars, going back to a small build plate will be too annoying

      @TashiMortier 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RisingApe That is true, I can print a whole little army on one plate now. :D I was just thinking of getting the cheaper option to get that tilting plate and try it at a cheaper price. For someone who is looking to get his first 3-D printer, is he plate big enough for primarily printing minis for Star Wars Legion? Many on Reddit advise to just buy Saturn 3 for a bigger plate for future proofing.

    • @RisingApe
      @RisingApe  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So my take on that is YES, I used a printer this size for years, and even printed a knight equivalent that stands 14” tall, it just takes a bit longer, you can print something like 6-10 troops on this on one plate in a few hours. It also takes up less room and costs $200 less. BUT having a bigger plate is useful if you use them a lot, so if you know that in the future you will be cranking out multiple armies/ larger pieces regularly then the Saturn is the better shout.

  • @WhiteWulfe
    @WhiteWulfe 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I still don't get why so many of these printers put the power switch at the back. Now that I have my setup in a grow tent, it's a royal pain to turn on and off. Why can't they just put power and USB at the front?!!??! As for that price, the $269 USD is launch only, it'll be higher once the pre-order period has finished.
    I'm glad to see they've brought the tilting mechanism to the cheaper price range, but oof, that build plate is not that great of a setup.

    • @RisingApe

    Be very careful with your purchase. Elegoo may sell replacement parts for the Mars 5 Ultra. They do not sell replacement parts for the Mars 5. One resin leak and you are buying a new printer. There are no replacement LCDs for the Mars 5.

      @@Mikilangelo For many videos I noticed a shot where he was pouring his resin, not into the vat, but on top of the build plate and letting it drizzle down into the vat.
      It seemed odd bu, I'm just a novice and he's the TH-cam expert, right? I've taken chemistry classes and there are some non-obvious procedures for properly transferring materials... maybe it's one of those, I wonder.
      I ask about it and he says it's a "long-running joke". I say it's misleading and he says I shouldn't have looked to him expecting information. Wow. That's a tech reviewer saying that.
      I'm sure his fans will insist on giving him a pass for that one little thing, but... that's the one I've caught so far. How much of the rest of it is BS too but I haven't detected yet because... I'm a novice!
      So, no reason to continue watching Fauxhammer. We have other options, people who are not trying to prank the newbies.
      Truth be told, his videos are already over-bloated with repetitive commentary and ranting. They were already a waste of time on that count even without the hi... larious... jokes.
