Great review. I have the PL-200 II and that thing is a beast. Probably one of the most underrated music or video subs out there.
Good review brother thanks I believe be I'll go with the PL 200 II
Right on
Good review I have been reviewing both for a few months now plan on getting the pl2oo to pair with Klipsch RP600'S in a apartment hopefully I don't have any problems with my neighbors also it will be driven with a Onkyo Intergrated Amp that doesn't have subwoofer connections which means that I will have to connect through the B connection on my Amp
Thanks for the review, it was very helpful for me. I am replacing my current sub because it is to boomy. The pl200ii is a no Brainer
Perfect comparison I have been going back and forth on these two for months now You helped me out alot!
Oh man, I feel ur pain... I went through the same issue 😂 glad it helped
@@sazzad_hossain.s hi I have a question? Can i place the PL-200II Behind my Couch? I don't have alot of room to put a Subwoofer up front by my tv as I have my Front Right and left Tower Speakers and my Center Channel Speaker on my tv Stand with My Samsung 4K TV Mounted on the Wall
@@adampruitt9211 Yes! Placing it behind couch will give such great immersion during movies, u will feel all the vibration on ur back, especially if it's close to ur couch ;) my current subwoofer was setup that was until I had to rearrange the living room.. loved it
I have both and they work well together
I can tell you the difference that you're hearing between the two. The F-12 is ported in the back whereas the PL200 is ported in the front. With the port in the back shooting directly at the corner of your wall gives a big boost to midbass and the sound refracts off of the corner and the back wall which gives you the "filling" feeling and also the seemingly less accurate bass. With no ports firing frontwards on the PL200 you will not get nearly as much of a bass boost in the corner. It's a tricky thing because in my experience rear ported subs and even speakers are much more forgiving when it comes to placement when not in the room's ideal seating position. You'll sacrifice some clarity for sure but that is much better than having holes in your bass frequency response due to room cancellations.
This is the PL-200ii and there are actually 2 in the front. I spoke with the engineers who said the difference was for positioning options closer to a wall as well as for accuracy. The PL-200ii is eerily accurate for its price and its generally more well behaved that the F-12. Its literally better in every way from aesthetics to a more musical bass. Please have a listen to my movie and music demos. Nice review 👌
Well said!
Another way to look at it is the F-12 is more for movie enthusiasts and the pl-200 for Music.
Excellent video Sir. my current search for a new sub brought me to BIC and numerous video's seems they have achieved good middle ground between decent quality products & budget conscious prices. Now would just like to see someone do a good video review of the BIC America PL-300 so I can decide between 200 & 300. cheers!
You are taking it out of the Box the enclosure is what the woofer sits in!
Thanks for taking time to do good review
For the F12, if you didnt care about losing a bit of peak volume, would it be more accurate and clear with music if you plugged the port, making it a sealed sub?
I have done this with nearly every subwoofer i have had and found the clarity much improved. I only left a cheap 8" ported because it was a tiny cube and the peak output sealed was just pitiful.
Oh that sounds like a fun experiment, what dyou use to plug the ports?
@@theHeartlessNooB I cut a chunk of dense foam. but or t-shirt will work too. I tried plugging the f12...still not impressive, it was much much quieter and distorted easily. I would not recommend the F12 for music. movies its ok, but not music.
@@rickc2222 I am in the process of replacing my 2 F12's. I want something more musical. Any recommenddations? What about those small RELs? The T/zeros?
@@theHeartlessNooB out of my budget...I like good sound but hate spending $$ on audio gear. I'm building a sealed infinity 12" right now, and will steal the amp from the F12 to power it. ( I like building stuff and have tons of free mdf to work with) If i were to spend some $$ i would probably go with the SVS SB-1000 pro or a diy kit from parts expres.
Very informative video. I´m more of 70 % music and 30 % movies. Which sub would you recommend ? Thanks.
The PL200 will work nicely, only reason to get the F12 is if you want to save $100, bit in my opinion put that extra towards PL200 and call it a day 😁
$450 now, not under $300.
great review!!
Thanks!
Magnetic shielding is pretty irrelevant these days....it was important back when people still used CRT televisions...and even these days if you're putting the sub next to a HTPC...use solid state drives...the magnetic aspect aside...HDDs don't do well with bass for very long...I had to learn the hard way...my sub murdered my 2TB drive...so don't let magnetic shielding be a deciding factor in sub options...it has no effect on modern equipment
While not needed because of CRT tv's, if you have a magnetic hard drive nearby (i.e. Home Theater Media Center), the field could cause issues over time. I used to have a pair of old Polk speakers that would distort my old TV from several feet away so that level of magnetic field would not be good on a magnetic hard drive that might be storing content.
@@midlander3760 That's why I mentioned SSDs...lol
@@chemicallust77 That's a true but but multi-TB SSDs are very expensive compared to magnetic drives.
You do not want shielded it cuts down on the BL!
I really liked you performing a blind test with your wife! Excellent job.
Pro tip: watch series at flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
@Shane Orion Definitely, have been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :)
@Shane Orion Yup, I have been watching on flixzone for years myself :)
The PL-200ii is next level.... Dunno if you've seen my demos.... Its a steal, not supposed to be as good as it is for the money
Any idea how these compare to the Bic H-100II ???
Ahh the middle child of the the three, it's got little bit more power at peak and can go 1hz lower thn F12, it's got a nice finish and a better warranty, and it's slightly smaller... but when it comes to sound, you probably won't notice the difference between F12 and H100, they will perform very similar, if it fits ur bill, h100ii would be a nice pick since it's got 7yr warranty! which ain't so bad ... Now if u compare the h100 and pl200, then ya u'll hear the difference when its pounding, pl200 is more hungry for power and wants higher db lol
Nice review
Thanks!
Hey! I’m curing the BIC AMERICA F12 with my PC but for some reason the signal seems really weak and the subwoofer just seems weak overall. I, using the Yamaha RS201 receiver with 12 Guage wire. What could be causing the issue?
Hey, great question, that Yamaha RS201 is a great amp! Do u have speakers hooked up to it as well? If so, you want to make sure impedance ratings are matched between speakers and the sub - all 8ohms... Then you want to make sure ur crossover setting on the sub is adjusted properly, like @ 80hz cutoff... And then play around with volume, set PC volume to max, and the sub volume halfway, last but not least u can try adjusting volume for the sub from amp. Ur low sound is an issue of getting the right settings, using a 12 gauge wire is fine. If u can, try using LFE port to make sure it's not a faulty sub ;)
Sazzad Hossain The Yamaha RS201 doesn’t have a LFE port unfortunately and I’m not using any type of speakers with it at the moment because I’m trying to see if it’s a faulty sub or if it’s something else. I have to turn my RS201 Well over 50 before I start hearing audio from the sub with the volume on the F12 turned to 5. Is the issue because I don’t have any speakers connected with the subwoofer causing it to do this maybe?
@@dreskar yeah, try with some speakers before ruling it out. Instruction manual definitely talks about weak sub signal but after u followed through everything else (section G). if you followed instructions manual without skipping anything then ur best bet is contact BiC support, they are really good and will definitely help out with a faulty sub as long as u r in warranty :)
Sazzad Hossain Okay thank you one last question how does this sub compare to the Logitech z2300?
@@dreskar oh the z2300 is a great desktop subwoofer, I use to have one, ran it for 5-6yrs.. Its really meant to serve a small room (e.g 8x10), closer to you for games, movies, tv shows, music w/e u like. The F12 however is really meant to be treated as part of your dedicated hometheater. U wanna play the F12 loud to get the most of it. Z2300 and F12, both are great subs but will serve different purpose, real comparison is on the low frequency and power F12 produces over the z2300. Ones like Bruce Lee and the other is The Rock (F12) 😂
Hey man, I have a question the “sub in” port on the back what type of cord do I need to use? To get sound from my tv to the sub?
What kind of output does ur tv come with? 3.5mm audio jack or rca out (red/white)? If it's RCA, then you need a male rca to single female rca cable, then use an lfe cable to connect with subwoofer... Or just one female rca to single male connection cable will do, if you do that, set ur frequency cut off 👍
@@sazzad_hossain.s it comes with both but I’m trying to use my 3.5mm audio jack because I already have 2 speakers hooked up to a audio jack splitter. So idk if having a rca and a 3.5mm audio jack going at the same time will work so I’m looking at a single lfe to a 3.5mm will that work?
@@mylessmith272 In that case, yes, I also have a 3.5mm audio jack on my tv, so I use a 3.5mm to single rca.. does the job
@@sazzad_hossain.s thank u for replying it’s really helped out
I just got my 2021 PL-300 from Amazon and as in this video they DO NOT come with the machined nickel or aluminum looking woofer, they are spray painted gold.
The new 300 is a very good subwoofer but they are still advertising it as having the shiny metal woofer in the ads and on the box it comes in....looks are important, that's false advertising!!
I know how you feel, thats exactly what I thought when I looked at it.. like wait a minute, it doesnt look like the picture lol
JBL subwoofer models pls explain
Question, Did you put your ear up to the sub and listen to for any 60hz power supply hum? I have an expensive B&W 15" sub that I've had for years. I love it and it's power supply is dead quiet. The power supply of a many number of cheaper speakers have a hum that is typically not audible, but to me, speaks to the quality of the power supply design.
I know what you mean, cheap subwoofer amps could give off a hum sound, but I dont recall hearing anything like that coming from the bic subs. Would be really annoying 🤦
OK, thanks for the quick reply.
Nice video.
Found a great deal on the f12s 2 subwoofers for 120$ a piece.. vs the pl200ii for 300$.. what would you recommend buy 2 f12s or 1 pl200ii? Thank you for the videos btw!
For $120 a piece, ya for sure get the F12, get two if u want lol hope u are getting the warranty too ;)
If you don’t mind, where did you find it for $120?
Does the PL-200II have a rubber surrounding vs foam surrounding on F12?
Do you mean for the woofer? Around it? I think it's high quality foam
@@sazzad_hossain.s Yes. It's foam on PL-200II?
@@kevinshometv yeah, to help reduce noise. It's foam where the woofer is screwed to the box... but the woofer itself (black thick rim) is a different material, something of high quality that's durable and flexible ... Not exactly sure what that's made of
@@sazzad_hossain.s Thank you. I've heard rubber is better than foam because rubber doesn't degrade/rot as fast over time. What do you think?
I agree on going for 2 sub (f12) than to just have one Big Sub coz two small subs are always better than 1 big sub. In 300 dollers one can buy 2 F12 and place them on place them properly to get more accurate bass.
Pl200ii is way better than F12 and I own both
In what way ? Means clean musical base for music or thump and rumble for movies...??

Well said!
F12 for movies
Pl-200 for music
The PL 200 IM looking at has a silver speaker not copper that's kind of odd
Ya kinda throws you off the first time, but totally 😁
@@sazzad_hossain.s so is it just silver in the stock photos or just a production run variable?
@@TheTrueSonOfFire image on the box and even their website show it's chrome/silver looking, but when u seethe PL sub out of the box, it's matte copper looking
@@sazzad_hossain.s hmmmm looks like the perfect "item not as described/pictured" case to open on eBay when it arrives in the mail...thanx buddy 😉 I'll offer the seller a five star rating and a great feedback in exchange for partial refund 😂😂😂

Bic America best
Hello! I have 2 subwoofer PL-200 ll I have doubts where you put the crossover in 'Sub 'or in the Digital receiver'?...
use 'digital receiver' when subwoofer crossover settings are set by ur receiver, the other option is when u set crossover limit on ur subwoofer itself. I would set crossover on ur receiver and set subwoofer to 'digital', usually 80hz is good place to start
Ok. I use in 'Digital Receiver' .how many Hertz you recommend me put in my crossover receiver. I have now in 120hz what you recommend???
@@joseismelreyes3879 120hz is fine, I actually like it at that because of certain sounds effects sound better when it comes from subwoofer and speakers at the same time
I bought the F12 and I regret it, its like you said, its loud most of the time when it doesn't need to :(
Personally I think that if you are going for the pl 200 your either undercutting a 400 dollar budget or stretching a 250 dollar budget, but if you have a 400 dollar budget I would recommend not going for the pl 200 but rather dual f12s because 2 subs working at 50% is always better than one at 70
sounds more tighter ..NO...sounds TIGHTER...or Sounds more tight. Sorry, my English teacher engraved that in me!
You need to break the new one in b4 you do comparison..spider needs to loosen up..
He said he tested them for a couple of days; how long do you think he should break them in? I generally consider a sub "broke in" after about 5 hours of use.
Please tell me your not testing with a Bluetooth Signal!!!
Always use CD's!
Bluetooth is a terrible way to test SQ!
