Single yellow line rules - No Waiting

  • Double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time, unless there are signs that specifically indicate seasonal restrictions.
'No waiting' signs are easily confused with 'no stopping' signs. Rather than displaying a red cross they feature a single diagonal red stripe on the same blue background. Drivers are allowed to drop off or pick up a passenger in a no waiting zone, although anything longer is prohibited.🚫
Unlike the “No Parking” sign, which allows brief stops for loading or unloading, the no stopping sign requires drivers to keep their vehicles in constant motion while passing through the designated area. The “No Stopping” sign is recognizable by its circular shape, red border, and a white symbol in the center.❌
The sign is exacty the same on both sides of the road in this video which is common BUT make sure you check the sign on your side of the road when parking on the line or the area you are parking in.

I knew this but it is good to get reminders every now and again. I think most of us who has been driving for years need a memory jogger every now and again. Thank you very much for a straight forward video. Let's have more.

I just need to know where I can park in London. Seems like there are parking meters eveything.

May I beg to differ. You explain how single yellow operates at "certain times" but you then park across the road (on the opposite side) to where the signage is displayed. I have personally successfully challenged a parking ticket from Islington Council when they failed to put signage on BOTH sides of the roads because there are, albeit in limited numbers, roads in the UK where the time restrictions on a single yellow on one side of the street, are different to the time restrictions of the single yellow on the other side of the same road, sometimes because a school is on one side etc. Rare, but a fact. So my advice would have been to have parked on the actual side of the road that you were using the signage in question as a guide for your tutorial video.

@@FishOnTwoWheels On this road the sign is exactly the same on both sides of the road all the way down which is common but yes it must be checked on your side of the road if you are parking on the line. This sign was easy to capture in the video for my explanation. I like your detailed mind

@@DSMcheltenham Thank you for your explanation and kind words in relation to my observation. To be honest, I never knew the above until I found myself with a penalty ticket and so did some research.
Needless to say, they next time I drove past said area there was a great big spanking shiny new sign there, lol.
