People like Kanye West, Taylor Swift, etc. Of course as said previously, if you sell yourself away, other people own your name and your intellectual property. And this idea can stretch outside the realm of the music industry/business. Great example: John Cena. That’s his real name, but it’s also his ring name. But every he goes out and does a movie or project outside the ring, because WWE owns his name, they get a cut from it.
Most modern deals have a clause that will specify "you, any extension of you including aliases" - people caught onto this back in the day with Prince. Record labels now protect themself from you rebranding or doing a name change to nullify contracts. It's unfortunately not as just changing your name anymore.

Nah the name was supposed to be ‘makaveli the don’ but the people who did the album art had a misunderstanding; the name of the album was supposed to be ‘killiminati: the 7 day theory’, but since there was this misunderstanding the album name changed to ‘the don killumimati: the 7 day theory’ and the name got shortened to just ‘makaveli’
One that I really wanted too see was kid cudi's mr. Rager the first time we see him is in Man on the Moon 2 and it's about how Cudi's emotions overwhelming him and he just starts hurting other people around him that's Mr Rager
