Im a professional dancer and tbh, for a live show i think its acceptable for certain moments. Like, if the artist dances, its pretty impossible to hit high notes or complex vocal runs while dancing your ass off lol. Usually we choreograph moments for the artist to catch their breath and stop dancing for more difficult songs or verses
We will sing it if we can, 😮 but often the dance choreography is so involved/technical that the singing wouldn't be as good as it could/should be 🤷♂️☝️👀
