      Everyone was in with a shout bar the Vanwall and Glickenhaus so the BoP worked as intended which is great to see and is the most teams that could actually win with 13 cars, since 2015 where it was 3 Porsche, 3 Audi and 2 Toyotas.
      I don't think GTEs having a lack of teams was an issue I think it was partly lack of manufacturers with GT3 racing having the most manufacturers involved, and also WEC wanting to align itself more with IMSA so teams could run GTD and LMGT3 like how teams can run GTP and Hypercar. Also stuff like BoP is easier as they could possibly use data from other series like IMSA or GTWC to get a rough baseline and also decrease the amount of sandbagging as if a car is quick at a GTWC round and if they use similar BoP parameters but is so much slower at the WEC round at the same or similar track than WEC team is probably sandbagging.

      @constantinegiotopoulos3033 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@maxb4085 most people don't watch the other endurance races so this fact is largely ignored. Looking from the outside one would think that Toyota dominated Spa, but if someone watches the race he would see that after Ferrari went over their bad luck with the tire selection, they did not only match the pace of the Toyotas but at some point they even unlapped themselves. Really weird that Toyota got hit so much with the unplanned BoP, I also think it was unnecessary because Ferrari proved at Spa that the BoP at the time was sufficient to close the gap to Toyota, we would still have a great race at Le Man. Now we get all this controversy which is a real shame.

    • @solinvictus1234
      @solinvictus1234 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      True that Toyota had 13kg more than Ferrari, but Toyota was allowed to use 4 Mega Joule per lap on their hybrid part, Ferrari was able to use only 2 Mega Joule per lap, equalizing the Toyota disadvantage in weight.

    I was lucky enough to be there for the race and it was brilliant, great close battles in all classes, LMP2 hasn’t been mentioned much but it’s the backbone of endurance racing for customer prototype teams and provided good action too. The Hertz Porsche was looking so good early on before it’s accident which was a real shame, but every hypercar looked competitive. Thank you for being impartial, some really horrible comments towards Toyota on other websites and forums and people forget that when other works teams buggered off they stuck around and pumped millions into their programs. They raced hard and pushed Ferrari hard too and if they’d won I don’t think people would have begrudged them too much. One thing worth mentioning. In the first hour when Seb was leading he started reporting issues with the rear brake by wire, so he was having to adjust the brakes all the time. Because of the nature of the fault I don’t believe Toyota where able to fully resolve it and the car was nervous under heavy braking. When I was watching at Mulsanne, a few times the Toyota was looking very unstable at the rear under braking. So huge kudos to the drivers to get the car to the end. An amazing race, I was looking at going again next year but due to the Ferrari win it looks like all the hotels have tripled their rates! Lol.

    Ferrari number 50 water leak was caused by a small stone that damaged the ERS radiator. They had also to make an early pit stop because right canbon aerodynamic strip on the roof detached and entered into the air scoop increasing causing raise of engine temperatures.
    Both cars had some problems with ERS, and it is supposed to be the reason for the need of the power cycle during pit stop.

    I feel there's a major oversight in your video: this is NOT the same team as the one making high-profile strategy fumbles in F1. Same manufacturer yes, but very different race teams.
    Look up AF Corse's endurance pedigree. They've won multiple titles up until 2022 in GTE Pro and have got multiple class wins at Le Mans to their name. This is the very same race team that took over the 499p in Hypercar. That was a major factor in pulling off a winning strategy as well as an operational masterclass in the 24h.

      I am very aware of the fact that this is a different team, having made a video about AF Corse in the past. People tend to be surprised that Ferrari did so well in terms of the strategy in this race especially when they compare it to what Ferrari do in F1. What people do not consider is the fact that Ferrari HY factory entries are operated by AF Corse which is extremaly experienced team which was on top of their game in GTE class winning WEC titles and Le Mans 24h races multiple times in the past. This is the team which knows exactly how to win a race like that and basicaly the only new thing for them was a different car. But even so, they already had a few races of experience in the bag which made things for Le Mans a lot easier. As for BOP, I think overall it was suprisingly good for this race. Every major manufacturer led the race at some point and could maintain the lead with the pace, like Jota Porsche or Peugeot #94.
