YLOD either your cpu or gpu got disconnected from the motherboard (solders dead) or Nec/tokin not providing enough power to the CPU. YLOD is a nasty shit.
@@NSC-Modz Okay, so I replaced the second NEC/TOKIN cap on the back of the RSX chip and booted up the PS3, it turned on up to the point where it asks you to do the system check as it wasn't shut down and I went ahead and attempted to start the checking process but when it restarted it went back to the flashing light screen. I haven't delidded any of the chips yet but what could that mean?
lol.. its not fing coming off, so i have been considering delidding my modded e01 as it runs hot and I've been wondering why people have been putting the lid back on? we have been delidding cpus for pc's for ever and we never put the lid back on. so why would we on the ps3?
Hello NSC! Great video but heh lol... I was trying to delid the cpu and made a scratch.... Luckly it was little bit of the rails and the ps3 turns on!! but i was hella scared :D
Ok but if we wanted to glue it and wanted to remove it later and not to use the incorrect ones what is the correct glue for both chips I know one uses silicon glue but witch one and the other chip I don't know what glue it is I know it isn't silicon so what are the type of glues Sony used on both chips ??????
I wouldn’t want to glue them back anyway, as it’s too risky to break the actual connectors, plus it makes maintenance so much easier! If I did that with my 60GB console it would break! Plus the glue is probably not as conductive? Too many variables :) I will also admit.. I did remove my IHS plates with a thin pallet knife and it was alright but there’s still risk! :D
I ordered a 0.08 cutting wire and paint knife set. I am thinking of using the wire to cut the adhesive and pry it open with a paint knife. I think the combination of tools should be safe?
Glueing them back, will create a additional layer that will lift the IHS from the Chip Die even further, not only the risk is bigger of overheating the system, but sooner or later youll have to take them back again, and good luck taking that Glue off without ripping a VRAM on the RSX or rip a solder-mask on the CELL B/E, the IHS will stay in place by the Thermal Paste and the pressure done by the clamps,i dont understand why people want to glue them back, but is theyre choice if they want to ruin theyre systems.
i have ps3 that hv jet fans so when i try to search about it i find a lot of people doing IHS removal but i don't understand after they remove it what they do did they glue it back or let it as it be but u Thank you so much for the video u help me so much.
No, don't glue it back, just clean the Chip, clean the IHS, apply new thermal paste and put back the IHS with thermal paste on the cooler, close it, READY! :)
So just leave the old original silicone glue that you cut through to remove the lid in place then? There's so need to scrape any of that off then right?
One more thing. I have the same psu as the one in your video. It has 3 screws underneath that i removed and i bent the metal tabs out of the way but i cant pop it open. Whats the trick?? i want to change the fuse. I went around the edges with a plastic pry tool but its being a real bitch.

Which I managed to take off and I tried putting it back in place but was sliding a lot so I did your method and put it back together and same thing no power no sign of life 😔 any hints what could have went wrong? Hi NSC. I love your channel. Could you give me a tip? I am going to do a homemade reball on 2 of my PS3 fat editions. One of them has not been delided, so I am wondering when is the best moment to do this, either before, during of after a reball. I wonder the best moment would be just after I removed the CPU/GPU, having the advantage to handle the component outside the board, making delid supposedly easier. Is that correct? Thanks.
Is it easy to remove the heatspreaders next time after delidding? I mean if you perform a successful delid and you need to change the paste once again years later is it easier?
If I do this, can I still remove the heat spreader from the heatsink? Just asking for the future (maybe 5-10 years?) when eventually the thermal paste goes bad on top of the spreader.

Is delidding your PS3 the best way to fix a YLOD or is it a NEC/TOKIN issue?
YLOD either your cpu or gpu got disconnected from the motherboard (solders dead) or Nec/tokin not providing enough power to the CPU. YLOD is a nasty shit.
Yes, it's the best way to prevent overheating, but the NEC/TOKIN's will get lower with the time, it has nothing about to do with the temperature.
To answer your question probably no, it wont fix it at all.
