I thought this was going to be some throw away game so it's great to know that it is worth checking out!

Great review as alway Tom! Thanks for keeping us distracted during this challenging time. I am very intrigued by this game and usually appreciate Friedeman Friese's creativity so this is a must try for me. Might even review it myself one day.

Friedemann Friese is an inspiring game designer. He really pushes the envelope. And while I am not a fan of many of his games, I am jealous of his ability to keep pushing forward.

Happy to see this reviewed after all. Back at Essen 2019 during the Dice & Mystics game night me and a friend had been breaking in my german copy of Fast Sloths (in German just Sloths or Faultier but due to Friedemann Frieses fad to have alliterations with the letter F for his games this had to be changed in english). Tom joined us for a bit to chat just coming from the fair ground and did not seem that interested in the title back then. I would blame it on the third day of the fair and anything that has been going on for the Dice Tower team around it. Either way chatting for some minutes with Tom made my friends already overwhelming day at Essen. And this is how I will always remember my first plays of this title.

Sorry if I seemed out of it, I was just tired. You all telling me the game was fun actually got me interested in it!

@@thedicetower The fair is stressful enough as a visitor and can only imagine how it is as a media creative and running your own booth as well at such an event. So no need to say sorry, fully understandable.

I thought the game was a lot of fun. But both times I played, the last several turns felt like everyone was just waiting for the person in the lead to finish up. The catch-up mechanism does an okay job pushing it closer to the end of the game. Still, at a certain point, I knew I was a few card draws and a couple hops away from the last two leaves and the only way I could be stopped is if someone sacrificed their own chance of winning to slow me down. But why would they bother? Wasting a turn to slow me down was probably not going to make me lose, unless they did it more than once... and at that point, they are just handing the win to someone else. I might have liked it more if it was half as long, or if there was a different end game condition.

Yes! I totally thought the same, Tom! Fast Sloths seems very similar to Elfenland, but it seems to 'smooth out' a few of the kinks that Elfenland had (although Elfenland's board was waaaaay cooler)

I really like pick up & deliver and I do not own a FF games and so this looks good and I will probably get it. BUT IMO it's quite expensive at the MSRP of $60 for what Tom is saying is lackluster component quality which is a bummer especially at that price point!

Basic gameplay is a little similar to Elfenland. (You also play cards to ride different animals, who move differently in different terrains.)

Hah, just saw Tom's final thoughts. He also noticed it.

I’ve heard it’s a good game, but that design totally turns me off. It looks like it was made in the 70s.

Yeah, most of his games look green and ugly, I don't understand that style.

Interesting listening to contrasting reviews.- the last issue ot Tabletop Gaming absolutely slated this and rated it a straight NO.
