Hi Michelle, I really appreciate this video. I had a few follow up questions. I am in my last year completing my bachelors of psychology. I hope to get my MSW next year. 1) I have a keen interest in sexual trauma, family & couples therapy within a private practice setting. Do you have any recommendations for potential programs that could be of my interest in Ontario? 2) How much does GPA really matter in comparison to volunteer experience? 3) What is beneficial volunteer experience beyond a hotline centre? I find it difficult because I want to integrate myself into a more intimate setting but I do not have the sufficient credentials as of yet. I am not sure where else to look. - I understand lots of people get Research Assistant positions in labs, but I am not really interested in research. Would that be beneficial to take part in? 4) How soon should I be starting my statement of interest? 5) What should I look for when selecting candidates for writing a recommendation letter? I feel as though a professor wouldn't be able to speak on my strengths as much as someone who's worked with me could. 6) Should I also be considering Psychotherapy as an alternative route? Not really sure of the difference.
