I recon I seen about 50 clips about the aqualand and you’re the only one that’s brought to my attention the water sensor going off every time you wash your hands and wasting battery power. I was going too get an aqualand a my daily wear. Now you’ve given me something to think about.. well done mate. Appreciate it

Hi there, your comments are much appreciated. Yes, even in the fine print of the watch's manual, Citizen recommend that these models are not used as daily wearers- they don't say those exact words but that's what they hint at and also discuss about the activation of the depth sensing circuitry even from excessive sweat on the water sensor. I've tested this out (no videos yet) and it is true one can simply put an almost damp finger against it and the thing will go into depth sensing mode. Ok after a bit it does recognise it isn't under the water. On some parts of the world, there just isn't much sun at all times of the year as in others eg closer to the equator and if worn simply for a daily wearer then maybe this could have an effect and one may end up having to charge it more often?
Plus it's getting dirt and fluff and what not into the pressure sensor if used as a daily wearer and having to wash it out but of course this activates the depth circuitry. I think this is why Citizen stress that one should immediately recharge their Aqualands after diving with them.
The alternative for a daily wearer is like the other watch on my wrist, the 300m diver, tough, good looking and no bigger, in fact a little smaller than these Citizen Aqualands. Just something to think about. Many Aqualands are for sale second hand and my guess is that people get them not for diving and then realise they are just a whooping big watch and has a lot of things one will never use. At the same time it can complement ones proper scuba depth gauge but not replace it.
Yes unfortunately I'd have to agree with you, there are many videos on YT about Citizen Aqualands but almost none of them discuss really wearing such a watch on a daily basis and just a couple if that for actually diving with one. I hope to make some diving vids a little later on. I suspect most of those vids, the watches are either given to them or they are on loan and can not be actually used or properly demonstrated. The other thing is i will leave you with is that the newer models, now use a locking ring around the reset pushers whereas this model shown here uses a typical screw down crown for the reset "pushers" -less parts less things to get dirty/damage etc over time. Plus if you decide to wear it diving, the newer models are much more "busy" on the dial and many have suggested (and I agree too) that it can be confusing. Finally, if you liked this vid u may also enjoy my in depth (no pun intended) blogs on dive watches, which contain heaps of info and are advertisement free LOL!

Citizen Aqualand JP2000-08E has a depth meter but it is on only when you switch it on before the dive. So you don't have to worry about the water sensor when you e.g. wash your hands or have a shower.

That was a good feature on that old model.

Good review. You are actually testing in real life situations.

LOL, we aim to please! But seriously yeah I think the Aqualands are def more suited for the purposes of diving than simply wearing. One can certainly like chunky dive watches but no need to get one which measures your depth if one is never going to use it let alone go swimming with it. I wear my others caving but would never consider wearing this one caving unless cave diving and even then there is just too much mud and crap inside a cave to clog up the depth sensor. Better just rely upon a regular dive watch. On this channel I try and test out the few watches I own by actually doing jut that. Later, I'll probably make a diving video comparing the accuracy of this watch with a depth gauge but many tell me already that they see them to be as accurate as their depth gauges, so that's not been a priority video as et. e shall see. Plus also Citizen do not recommend relying upon this watch as a sole depth gauge. Anyway, thanks for commenting and watching!

Hi, what's the deal with the band not adequate? please explain. One of the great things i find with Citizen is that you can get an ISO rated ecodrive diver for £150/$AU300. I know the Royal Navy uses ecodrive Citizen divers and i doubt that has changed despite their promotional arrangements with Casio for their 'Frogman' series.

Yeah sorry I realised what I had said was sort of ambiguous. I meant the NATO type strap is not so good for scuba diving (IMHO) because it (i mentioned this in some past watch videos, forget which one off the top of my head) but those Nato bands will def not break if they get caught on anything better to be only using a Urethane type band which does not connect under the pins, ie just better with the original Citizen band. Is that what yiu were referring to?
Yeah Citizen regular Dive watches, eg the 200m are great.

LOL, I can only hope to see one on Ebay going second hand from someone who watches this video and thinks, "hey that's too heavy for me"! and I'll get one LOL. No, seriously looks like it could go to mars and back (except it wouldn't make the grade being electric LOL, but no it looks great and I could wear half a pound less diving if I wore it LOL. Do have one?
