    "The Void of Space" is one of the finest pieces of audio the Genesis' chip ever produced.

      @@axelriviere7605 I mean by today's technological standards all Chiptunes is pretty much outmoded anyway more interesting from a historical and cultural preservation standpoint like the old psychedelic Albums on this site are and for artists to study (like the old Psychedelic Albums on this site are).

    "The Void of Space".........
    I remember playing Verytex for the first time too long ago, and I remember too the heating sensation around my chest and a whole body chill when I first heard near its loop when it reaches C#, then D# and falls to D9/7, driven by a strong, echoey and slowly vanishing bass, just like an explosion of emotion, the climax. Pure eargasm. Those are symptoms I have when I hear a masterpiece.
    This tune has some motivational connotation for someone who pursuits one goal, knows of many adversities, gets sad sometimes, but stands up and decides to never give up.
    Gameplay wise, It may have simple mechanics and graphics, but I love the game as a whole. In fact, I cited "The Void of Space" because it was the first punch, but the whole soundtrack is pure marvel. See 11:37 and 18:37 also. Hitoshi Sakimoto deserves a special place within my musical heart due to many unforgettable works, from Verytex to Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga, Gradius V and many RPGs. Sadly, nowadays, video game music lost its way and expression. The relation between what's going on and the atmosphere is set by music.

    Wow, amazing OST. Has a mid-80s timeless pop rock feel to it. Its a shame more developers did not bother to take advantage of the Gen's soundchip like in this game.

    I don't really where to ask for requests, so I'll comment under this fantastic Sakimoto soundtrack.
    I'd really like to hear the soundtrack to the game "Nightmare Circus" captured from the real hardware!! I think it's an interesting and overlooked OST (mainly because the game itself is obscure). It's actually one of my favorite soundtrack from this system.

  • @supermariobro93
    @supermariobro93 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    While the game itself is OK, the soundtrack’s quite stellar, especially the first stage! Man, that “Terpsichorean” sound driver is quite a treat to listen to, no matter the quality of the game!

    Love Inside Lining and Inside Planet. Really driving, exciting tracks that are almost as good as the ones in MUSHA (almost). Actually all of the main stage tracks have a driving, pulse raising feel except for Void of Space which ironically is the one everyone seems to love the most!

    I sort of wonder why more games didn't use this driver. It was the one that made the Genesis/MD sound the closest to the X68000.

    • @sociedadhistoriayeconomia
      @sociedadhistoriayeconomia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nobody knew how to program sounds like this except the japanese developers.Sega of Japan was keen to give the documentation of the Yamaha 2612 to the developers.Sega of America didnt have those documents.So the developers outside Japan had to do workarounds to get sounds on the console.

    • @danmakuman
      @danmakuman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Japanese composers knew much more how to program FM sound chips because basically all the systems from Arcades to home computers used them so it was natural, not so much for western developers tho.

    • @MastaGambit
      @MastaGambit 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sociedadhistoriayeconomia Exactly. Sega of Japan gave absolutely no shits about collaborating with 3rd-party western developers in almost every aspect. You basically had to have a Commodore/Amiga-era sound engineer on your team as a western dev if you wanted your game to have strong music, cuz they'd have to write their own driver for it. Had western devs been given documentation on the SMPS driver, it would have been a whole different story.

    • @camulodunon
      @camulodunon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Carlos Eduardo Espinosa Sánchez you actually don't have to be able to create your own instruments to make good sounding music with FM. Michiru Yamane didn't program any instruments herself yet she made great stuff in the Genesis. Often times Genesis music sounding good has more to do with use of channels than it does instrument patches.
