Nobody I've seen react to it has called the line, "who gets lucky when he speaks" 100% for me. Knox was super close matching in lucky with dog as a name, but I think the last part might be a reference to Hi Ren. It's a lot of spoken word/rap/bardic in nature and is what really blew up for him. Agree it's not luck, but at teh same time it is. Always takes a little luck to get a book published, or a song seen/heard for it to go viral. Least that's my read.

  • @Apollo.Rising

He actually talked about his creative process in a recent Q and A! He said he usually has the beat/music part first, then figures out how the flow will sound, then writes the lyrics, then comes up with the concept, and finally revises the lyrics to fit the concept. He said he tries to get thought out of the way. As a creative it's mind boggling as thats almost the exact opposite of how I put something together.

Post by Ren on his Community Tab: "Overhwlemed by the amount of support for illest Of Our Time. Have been loving watching all the reaction videos and hearing everyone's interpretation. I never usually break down my own words because I love letting people apply their own meaning, but there was one line I wanted to explain. The title of the song. Alot of people took this to mean "The greatest Of Our Time"
"Look for all the answers that I never seem to find,
Till then I guess I'm still the illest of our time"
Its my reluctance to be the illest - the clue is in the word 'guess' - ive spent the better part of a decade looking for solutions to the damage lyme disease dealt with countless doctors visits, and am still in that boat. "Illest" can also mean "dopest" "best" etc. So it's a bit of a double entendre. Same as "Sick boi"
This theme is repeated with the line "elementary dear Watson you might find" cause Sherlock Holmes was always searching for the clues to piece the puzzle together, which is very relatable when trying to piece together parts of a very complex health picture, anyone with a very complex illness will relate to almost having to become your own detective.
    And finally
    "A pathologic entity -
if eveything is set in stone then this is how its meant to be"
Acceptance that this might just be the cards I've been dealt.
To search for answers and simultaneously accept that chronic illnest may be your fate is a bit of a paradox because it is the rejection of acceptance that spurs you forward in the persuit of answers, but it is the acceptance that you may always be sick that let's you lead a more peaceful life... so one must walk this contradictory line between both opposing states to have the motivation to find the answers whilst not being so outcome dependent. Still haven't mastered this, but think it's an interesting concept" posted by Ren Gill (The Illest of the Ill)

I'm not saying that this is true for everywhere but when I've been down in the states where I've been like in Indianapolis and in North Carolina near Asheville the mental health people didn't really behave like the people here in Alaska do they didn't listen to me here in Alaska we have really good mental health providers that actually listen to the patient to because the patient is the one actually going through it and having knowledge of the brain is quite difficult. In fact a lot of mental health patients like me have been misdiagnosed even I was diagnosed as three 98.8 with tendencies towards schizophrenia when I was thirteen and in my twenties I got re-diagnosed and that one is the one that is the correct diagnosis bipolar one with schizoaffective disorder. But to get misdiagnosed as mentally ill and then have taken pills that you do not need that scary to me. Some of these drugs can have some pretty drastic side effects. Or side effects like some of my pills have where you can't go in the sun for extended periods of time and you can't eat grapefruit...

You know when you're asking about his creative process I'm not him I can't say for sure but I believe looking at his past music especially the old stuff from when he was in the four elements he has like four different videos for the trick the fox video and it look like the one that came on top was a poem, then again in money games part 2 there are two videos to that and in one of them Ren is walking down a beach and gives you the seashell part as he's walking so I believe he starts with poetry. As a writer myself when a creative person is writing poetry for the most part it usually just it doesn't really start off with a rhyme or reason but it ends up just naturally becoming what poetry style is your strong suit. My writings were either hugely dark because when I was a teenager I didn't understand my mental illness and so that's how I let it out was through writing or the publishable stuff which was more like Hallmark cards. So either Edgar Allan Poe or or happy birthday card 🤣🤣🤣

I'm also wondering if the demogorgon of Oppin or is it double entendre or not because there is a German city called Oppin that dates back to the Saxony era and having listen to run for a while I can definitely tell you he does like to research and is interested in history he's always adding Little gems. Demogorgon is a demon in that definition. So I'm wondering if there wasn't some sort of tale from way back when of some demon similar to maybe Lilith that terrorizes the town? Just a thought I had.
