    my fav set up is, immortal T in front and L shaped dipole antenna out the back, and 500mw. before you push any set up you should find a place you can test the maximum distance you will be needing, on this set up i could freestyle 1 mile away (1.6km) without any drop outs or scares. i would also recommend falconrad fpv vids, even if you dont want to fly 3 miles and 10,000 feet altitude, its good to know how it can be done.

      Really valid and solid advice here. I'm gonna pin that if that's ok

    The other thing you should consider is your antenna orientation. If you have your antenna vertical on your quad then you should have your antenna vertical on your radio. The crossfire antennas lose a lot of connectivity once they go past about 45⁰ of being in plane with each other. Pavel Spychalski has a great video about antenna orientation for long range. BTW love your kitty.

    Most important tip for long range is battery management. Know how far out you can take it. Consider wind direction. Always try to fly into the wind on your way out that way you spend less battery on the way back. Also get a basic understanding of how the fresnel zone works. It applies to both the TX and VTX. Better fresnel = better video/control link, ie, longer possible range.
    I've been really getting into long range in the past two months, mainly with my flywoo ex and hex plorers. I've only recently gotten a naked GoPro so expect some long range content soon. But yeah, those are my two cents. There's a lot more to it and it's impossible to condense it into a short video but all the tips you've said are solid.

      Great tips! Since this video was about crossfire - I didn't get too much into detail on other things but it sparks an idea of making a more detailed video on other aspects of lr 🤔

    Excellent tips for crossfire users!! Always check output power level for long range and I also highly recommend the dual diversity rx antennas setup! Great informative video, MaiOnHigh!! 👍👍

    Excellent tips Lexie!! I experienced an rx loss on my I-Flight DC 10. I bought a tbs diversity receiver so hopefully that will take care of it. Then for my receiver antenna, I put double sided tape on the arm. Then mounted it on the tape so hopefully it'll work 😊

    • @MaiOnHigh
      @MaiOnHigh  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Be sure to isolate the arm with tape so the antenna doesn't touch carbon where it's being held onto the arm!
      I think you shouldn't have any problems!

  • @w1llyFPV
    @w1llyFPV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello Lexi, I have only one similar problem as you. Sometimes when I'm checking settings at home I usual change output power of my RX to 25mW to save battery in my radio and sometimes I forgot to change this setting back 😜

    Crossfire has bitten me a few times, and you mentioned some of the causes that got me also. One that people need to check is the Tx ant coax condition. I had the Tx Tee ant coax break where the dipoles connect, caused an ugly crash. Good Tips Video !

    Very good info. I went with 2.4 ELRS instead of crossfire but the points you made can apply to it as well other than antenna on the quad.

    It's important, especially long range, to have a "RTH" capability, using beta flight or Inav. No reason to ever lose a drone (or plane-wing) again. If you are in a panic or no-signal condition, flip a switch and it returns.

    • @MaiOnHigh
      @MaiOnHigh  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes it fails, or during RTH it hits something 😉 I saw enough but I agree - it helps
