Hello D. This is such a sad, heartbreaking song. Till has done an excellent job again. To understand the message of the song, you might have to have grown up here. Here's a little context: the part with the hop, hop rider is a game where the child sits on your lap and your knees make the child hop. If you now hear this line in the context of the line: hear the screams in the night, my heart has stopped beating, the frost has flown INTO the child, you realize that it is about child abuse and that no one is coming to help the child. Every time the child receives a "visitor," he or she winds up the music box to survive the abuse. Once again, Rammstein has addressed a taboo. It is discussed superficially in society, but the song also points out that many people look away when it happens in their environment. I think this song is about an abused child that is emotionaly dead, only the music clock keeps him a little alive. "Hoppe hoppe Reiter" means Sex (forced on him), and he thinks: my heart does not want to go in 😰
I wonder now if the scenes where the man digs the boy up are from a movie, and if it's the case, which one it is. Does the kid get buried by accident (bomb, earthquake?), or did the man bury the child on purpose? I have to find it.
Being buried isn't a painful way to go out of this life. It's however a terrified way because you get all this time to think. You die of carbon monoxide poisoning. Translated you fall asleep and never wake up again. That's not painful at all.

How to describe Rammstein? I discovered them 3 years ago. Had 50 songs from them as my favorite ones. Now there are 51 on my list.
