This guy knows exactly what he’s taking about. It just makes so much more sense than any of the other weird, convoluted shoulder work with resistance bands I’ve been watching.
Agreed. I think calisthenics appeal to a lot of people who aren't into heavy weights (which is fine). However, it's good to see them used as an alternative to traditional shoulder moves.
Thanks again, James. Been following you since the "muscle-geek" days & now I've got my 17yr old doing your routines. He's a bodybuilder/athlete & loves pushing iron but now he also loves resistance training! Just ordered him a new set of resistance gear. You've got a new follower now, it's a family tradition!
Here’s the thing. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxS7ex6L4sMqpaTn4LnBPyBmRQsSingL8y These are not meant to be stretched to 12ft or 14ft or whatever else where you’re a 6ft person, stepping in the band and trying to do standing shoulder presses. If they tear, (assuming they’re not defective) then you’re trying to stretch them way too far. For a full body stretch, bands should be like three feet long, doubled over. Don’t buy the bad press. A fully extended reverse fly is avoid as far as you should stretch these. If it’s too easy, use more than one band at a time. Not rocket science.
jimmy5634 . You are right Jimmy, they are safer and more versatile in some ways then weights. Its not really what gym owners would want to hear though l.o.l.
Definitely safer and better range of motion which can be varied for maximum results. I can’t get the burn in my delts any better with free weights or machines.
I'm going to start to train my shoulders more at home during lockdown haven't done much because my gym been shut for 9 months I can see the difference not training especially at my age of 69 yr Alec from Scotland
Thank you, all of your videos are very helpful including this one. In this one in particular I wish they would zoom out for a second so that I can see the whole setup. I think I get where/how the band is supposed to be anchored, but would prefer to be able to see the entire length of the band (hands and feet) while you're doing the side and front lifts, just to be sure.
Its been 3 weeks that I have started training exclusively with these bands (gyms are closed) . Had bought them to take them on my sailboat to keep fit while on my circumnavigation. I had to relearn to train (watch videos) and build a full program but it was well worth it. I was septic at first but now Im sure I will not have any issues keeping fit, not sure I will be returning to the gym. Cant wait to train on exotic beaches.
@@maryetdave my friend, if it's not a problem, could you please share the link to the program that you are using. I just bought my set of bands with handles so it would mean a lot. Thank you in advance, sir

James, this is great. I'm changing the way I work out. It would be great if you could do a video on how to prevent resistance bands from snapping, and the likelihood that this happens. It is the only disadvantage I see about the bands.
Perishing is the main cause. Had mine for 3 years or so and it snapped on me the other day. Left a welt on my back and wad very sore. Just ordered a new set. I'll probably replace mine every year or two at the most.

Hello, good video thank you. I'm having a sharp pain inside my shoulder, it is not muscle growing pain, it is more sharp and seems quite aggressive. I'm not using a lot of resistance from the band, but I can feel it everytime I put my arm up, and even without the exercise I can feel it... any help or advice?
I see you're attaching your bands directly to hard surfaces like the steel and metal bars. How do u protect the band from cracking? Mine only lasted 4 workouts before I noticed cracks
They shouldn't crack from being wrapped around a metal post unless it has sharp edges. It's more likely you're stretching it too much or using bands with different resistance (e.g. you may need to use stiffer bands and stretch them out less).
I suppose if there are sharp edges you could tie a small towel round the post and then attach the band? I have to do this at home because I attach the band to a square stair bannister pillar.
Plenty of bodybuilders use bands to pump up before going on stage. I guess people don't like them because they don't look manly and satisfy the he-man ego!
I think you can get results with bands, but you need to keep realistic expectations. And for some excersises it's better than free weights. It's also better than nothing during a pandemic. I personally bought adjustable dumbbells up to 71.5 pounds each, and a set of bands, and get great workouts at home.

So many bullshit band videos popping up due to current situation. Some decent but none as good as this buy that has been doing this for a long time

Since I ordered resistance bands, the possibilities are endless. There’s quality content on this channel.
Thanks! This really helped cut through the crap and noise in the resistance band videos.

As a brit, one of the things I love about americans is their innovativeness.
Its no accident that the US rocks in so many ways.
I’ve been using resistance bands since my gym closed. Bands are excellent for shoulder development...excellent!

This guy makes such an excellent argument for resistance bands. His illustration... I mean, damn.
Had to switch to resistance bands during the pandemic. I really can attest to the increase is tension for full range of motion. Thanks James!!!
Great video. Thx.
James Grage the band master!
Lateral raises are one movement that bands lend themselves quite well to.
dont you have the same effect with cables at the gym??
@@burlhorse61 No
Unlike the cables the bands under tension increase weight.
