    Oh boy, strap in lads...
    What I love about this song is that it basically just follows a typical verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus structure with an intro and a coda, Except the bridge between chorus two and chorus three ends up taking 28 minutes of the song lmao. I feel that build up to when the final chorus kicks in is absolutely one of the most rewarding things I’ve heard on a rock record, and this song is one of my all time favourites

      WORD! The first time in my life that i have heard this song, like 13 years ago, i thought the exact same thing about the last chorus... I can remember my brain exploding.

      It truly is a mind-boggling song. I especially love how the first at least 6 minutes of the song are just pure hype the whole time. Other really long songs I've heard have long buildups at the start, but they take a different approach here.

      a 28 min bridge is probably the proggiest thing ever and I'm all for it.

    Awesome, I'm more than impressed that you actually liked it. I was so nervous after how the last song made you feel but now it's like being in peace. I'm glad you did it.

      In that last bit after the wives at the marble shrine he says "Take me all over". I've struggled about the lyrics too until I heard Cedric singing it live :)

    The song Francis the Mute was not on the origial album, but the lyrics were in the booklet (or rather, hidden behind the disk)

    I'd be interested on your take of Deloused in the Comatorium. Lots of vivid imagery to break down in those lyrics.

    Vismund Cygnus, the narrator, is also the same person as the Window & Cassandra Gemini.

    Sister Mary lol. You're almost there with the story, well, one of your interpretations is not so far. But you still have to figure out "who" is saying "what" because I'm not sure if the other song is the piece you need.

    Cedric did some great vocals on this. Can’t wait for you to get to the other albums. So much to explore.

    I think "stabbed" could mean raped. The product of a rape, that survived the rest of the situation (child trafficking?), the 25 wives (women) used to produce these children, raped (the icepick could be the male members hat it felt like) constantly, this whole part is quite disturbing.
    He then went on to live its own life, and grown up tried to find his biological family, to find they were all messed up. It's a very dark story.

    • @fergar0206
      @fergar0206 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Given the other references to botched abortions i am more inclined to say by stabbing they mean a botched coat hook abortion. He wasn't wanted by his mother and before he was even born she attempted to get rid of him but failed, possibly leaving him deformed. After he was born maybe he was given up by his mother.

    The endling loops because Frances is back where he's started. "One day you'll remember, you've always had a family, in the burial of your home". You go searching to find meaning out there but it's all in here, where you left it, all along.

    I'm 2 years late, but, as a concept album, Cedric has always maintained that the lyrics were "loose" and "open to interpretation". If you are looking for a definitive explanation of this song and this album? There isn't one. The song "Frances The Mute" was only left off the album because Warner Brothers Records refused to let them release a double CD. Frances should be at the beginning of the album. Cassandra is the proper ending.

    TMV is sonic chaos to me, that often converges into some really euphoric explosions. Listened to them since they started, but gave up on trying to determine the meaning of the lyrics before their first CD even came out. I know there are "general" themes, like Finnegans Wake, but I don't expect to make sense of it all, just parts. Like watching an opera in a different language.

    Very good review. It's a subjective complicated album. I had a few different vie, but the review was great. I thought, Cygnus became a serial killer. But that reviewer is great, and anyone can dusagree

  • @louisrepucci8407
    @louisrepucci8407 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Bold of you to dive into parsing the lyrics -- however, no one has seemed to relay to you that TMV's lyricist free-associates much of the writing, a la TS Eliot. There may be less of a cohesive narrative than one might expect. Enjoy!

    • @BroudbrunMusicMerge
      @BroudbrunMusicMerge 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's like he had a general narrative in mind, but the specifics are just whatever sprang to mind mid-writing. Was he the one who had TV programs running to help brainstorm lyrics, or was that another writer?

      It was supposed to be first. But with what happened it s nowhere and it s à décoder. It s like fire walk with me with Twin peaks, it s before but supposed to be watched after.

    Ok, some bands you might like then. Enjoy.
    Atlas of ID (basically a ripoff, but who cares)
    Hrvrd - 'inevitable and I' album is vert good, and 'from the birds cage' is prolly their best
    Cyan Marble - best of the bunch IMO. They have a song called ankh which is fucking sick
    Vela ceras
    Porcupine Tree
    Strawberry girls
    Rishloo - listen to Feathergun in the garden of the sun
    Tool - you've probably heard of these guys anyway
    Closure in moscow - a pop mars volta
    Shpongle - completely different (electro) but sick
    Circa survive - I hate all their albums but love the album called 'the amulet'
    Arcane roots
    Nothing but thieves
    Queens of the stone age
    At the Drive in - the main dudes of the mars volta were in this (although all members are critical)
    Red Hot Chilli Peppers
    Buckethead - guitarist, very diverse
    The Dear hunter - some songs are meh, but some songs are sick too.
    Fugazi - not everyone's cup of tea

      I'm surprised that you hate most Circa Survive but love those other bands listed especially HRVRD which is pretty close to Circa's sound. Juturna by Circa is one of my favorites, I'm not so into the newer albums.

      @@usefulidiot9896 that's weird lol, the amulet is a really weird and slow album, descensus Is much more fierce, explorative and epic. I love all their albums, but I think you should relisten to it, like tmv it took me several listens to start digging the vibe. Anyway, to each their own!
