Jenson is the coolest dude. I remember e-mailing him when I was like 13-15 years old and asking him what settings he used on his 5150 because I thought the tone on "One Kill Wonder" was so raw and awesome. He e-mailed me back, gave me some settings and explanations and offered me to e-mail back with anymore questions I had. Weird shit like that I never forget.

There’s very few info about him and his rig tho...also very hard to get into him as a guitar player, like visualy his playing seems beastly and “poorly trained” but actually sounds awesome and pretty clean, also that reverse galloping shit that i now wanna master hahaha, just wanna find what i can get from him as a guitar player and his influence in The Haunted ( don’t tell me everything was writen by Anders and Jonas, that would be very sad 😞)
Ps: IM NOT FORGETTING i invocated him in Ola’s FB group, he answered and i was fucking blown away, i was shaking the whole day and ripping Revolver and The Dead Eye

Jensen is my spirit animal. What a riffmonster.
Back in the early 00's I messaged Jensen (don't remember where I found him though...) and I raved about the first two Witchery albums, mentioning that I had reviewed them on Amazon. He was remarkably humble and said that he would send me some stuff by mail. A few weeks later, I discovered that I had been added to the Necropolis Records press list and started getting advance copies of *everything* the label was releasing. It sucked that the label went under after a few years.

I remember hearing All Against All for the first time. Was so damned blown away. Jensen's use of octaves in the riffs rather than the usual fifths, was an eye opening moment for me.
He actually made me a bass player kinda. Came up with my own tuning that allows me to do a Jensenesk riffing type of thing and it sounds like I'm playing bass and guitar.
Jensen, if you read this I'd be blown away if you'd take a listen. And if course you too Ola.
Didn't know S'ola'r was your guitar company. Cheers! Looks like your kicking ass all over the place.

The Haunted was the first band I ever saw, when I was 15 years old at Ozzfest. Jensen and the band was putting 110% into the performance, and that experience solidified my taste for heavy music. It's incredible to see that this band is still going and couldn't be happier to live in a time that I can see these Q&A type interviews. Keep these going Ola, I hope to see you play sometime!

    • @bluepvp900

I agree about how cool it is having interviews like this. Ola's channel is excellent. The first band you saw was at Ozzfest, that's cool. I can't mention the first I went to after that, kind of embarrassing really. It's amazing to see Jensen talk about choosing between accordian and guitar, going with guitar because Elvis had a guitar and that was quite a bit cooler than anyone he'd seen with an accordian. Unexpected, honest, and interesting start to the interview that continued throughout. Fun to watch.

Me and my BF had just bought Witcherys dead hot and ready and was jamming the shit out of it. Angel ( one of the latinos name) was coming in our hotel room and we had dead hot cranked and he said to us " man you guys listen to some sick shit" all with a smile on his face! Come to find out he love witchery as well and we slapped hands and partied on! To this day dead, hot and ready reminds me of being out west almost 20 years ago!!!

This was really a lot of fun and very informative. There really isn't a ton of information about Jensen online, so it was awesome to hear some of his back story. He lived in Edmonton for about a decade....he's got some Canadian roots! I remember him telling me that one time.
Jensen and I used to be Metal tape trading pen pals in the early to mid 90's when he had his old DM band Seance going. I bought their "Levitised Spirit" demo from him through an ad in Metal Maniacs magazine. He was always very friendly, very quick with his responses and always wrote a lot back in his letters. Class act.

Jensen starts playing at 36:00. The Haunted is my favorite band! Thanks for this Ola. Although, I should become a member because I have so many questions; Are we going to get more The Haunted vinyl reissues? Why the stylistic change from the first and second Haunted album? Could he talk more about the individual albums? What does he think about the different lineup changes throughout the years? Was The Haunted meant to be a departure from At the Gates in the beginning? Although I love every album, what does he think about fan reaction to Unseen? What does he think about the way the Gothenburg style has changed the metal landscape over the years? My favorite album is The Dead Eye btw. One more question, with Revolver, the band even had a United States southern feel to it. Was that intentional? Very bluesy. I have a million more questions btw.

When I hear the name "Jensen", I think of the speakers I have in one of my cabs and a bad ass, metal guitarist. The Haunted has remained a favorite of mine since 2002 - Unfortunately, I hadn't heard any swedish death metal until I graduated from high school...only listened to American death and Norwegian black metal back then but I wish I would have heard Seance...Fornever Laid to Rest and Levitized Spirit are both classics!
As an aspiring metal guitarist, I love these interviews, Ola, and regardless of what you may change the shows name to, I will still tune in to get to know some of my favorite musicians a little better.

One December night in 2004 in Fort Worth, TX a starstruck young man (yours truly) handed Patrik Jensen a black Sharpie marker and asked him to autograph his brand new Revolver tour t-shirt. This young man walked away without said marker, and Mr. Jensen caught up with him a bit later and made sure he got it back. Super nice guy, I can vouch. This was on the Damageplan tour, and was the last time many of us would see another of North Texas' native sons, Dimebag Darrell Abbott. The young man had been humbled by the younger Abbott brother several years prior when he caught a glimpse of Darrell's black-toothed grin in the crowd at one of his gigs at Fort Worth Metal hub the Tattoo Bar.
I'd also like to apologize to Anders Bjorler for cornering him on that December evening and nerding about guitars when he could have been having drinks with the Abbott Bros. and others who were much cooler than myself. With the benefit of hindsight we are reminded to make the most of each moment and to tell our loved ones how much they mean to us.
    Thanks for the memories, guys.

I was exposed to Witchery the 1st time by one of the members being in King Diamond for a short time, (I may be wrong, but I think it was: "House of God" album) & he was always with the hand-sign, & "Do the W!" Which I don't think Mr.Pettersen liked all that much! So MAYBE that's one of the reasons he was only on one album, but Kim shuffles members around a lot anyway, so who knows. But that was what got me into researching the band. So his self promotion helped ME at least! I also want to say; I fukin love Jensen's answers to every question put to him by you Ola! So I can see why you love the guy also! Do the W!! Wicthery! 🤘

Fucking excellent interview. Very cool chat with Jensen. Very informative and interesting. You covered a lot of subjects in depth and Jensen seems like a great guy to just hang out with much less be in such a creative band with. Love the signature axe as well.
