    alot of you guys saying that the pit isnt deep enough here is something to consider. where i build we use use driven pilings and before we are permitted to build we musr drive a test pile and have it tested by the state. that is typical of homes built along the coast and the actual depth of the pile is determined by butt size as well as tonnage. that being said i single story structure isnt as heavy as the 4 story custom homes that we build so the footing doesnt have to be as deep. from what i can see that is a pretty wide footing for that column so the structures weight is displaced over a pretty large footprint. keep in mind that a state inspector is signing off on the footings so we can deduce that the depth is within engineer spec. of course alot of that has to do with the depth of the frost line as well as the makeup of the soil. looks to me like there is a bit of clay composition so that will be harder than regular top soil. just sayin.

    Hi, I have a clarification, one of the column has 4x16 dia rods and 2x12 dia rods are used. Now the column is poured for cement concrete and cured. Now plinth beam tie is finished and ready for pouring cement concrete. There was dimensional mismatch so now 4 rods in column are cut and another 4 bars are added in plinth level tie up. And then cement concrete is poured. Will the column be strong..if not what to do for reinforcement?

  • @ardacsdacs4481
    @ardacsdacs4481 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Consider the spacing and number of lateral ties from the top bars of the footing. It might be 6 @4 and 4 @ 6, and the rest will be the least dimension of the column based on ACI Code.

    1&2 to prevent sands suck Cement mixing water or will be cracked

      Use of plastic sheet is not really necessary here. Using coarse aggregates as coarse base would do the job

    can you just explain how to place one grid of rebars layer over second one...??

    • @obeycastle2547
      @obeycastle2547 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You build both grids. Then on the bottom grid you equally space out "chairs" of rebar, the prints will tell you where to put them and how high. Then you add the other grid on top. Everything tied up ofcourse. And leveled.

  • @gherdaiulian
    @gherdaiulian 10 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Stirrups are only for stabilizing vertical bars of column? The distance between stirrups is veeeery high. Columns are designed for compression with bending moment. That reinforcement could buckle if the distance between stirrups is that much. There are other things to talk about your column, especially the design part.

    • @nickaquinio2934
      @nickaquinio2934 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YES THE STIRRUPS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSER AT THE BOTTOM PART

      especially because the column is short, the stirrups should have been closer at the bottom (the shear force is higher)
